I was inspired, and Miguel is from the Dear Evan Hansen novel. Also angst.

Miguel's POV

I was watching something when my phone started blowing up. People were going off about something that happened at a school. I decided to see what the fuss was about. My eyes widened.

Never planned that one day I'd be losing you.

Connor was dead? CONNOR MURPHY WAS DEAD? I hadn't seen him in so long and now.... he... he... was dead? C-Connie was dead? I'd never see him again? Oh my God... oh my God.... I never told him... and I'll never get to.

In another life, I would be your girl, we'd keep all our promises, be us against the world.

He had been my friend a long time ago. I had hoped we'd reconnect, so I got to tell him. Connie is dead... Connie is dead. We'll never meet again.... I curled up, hugging my knees and started crying.

~~~
"So what's your name?" The dark haired boy asked. He had just told a joke and I'd laughed. He was actually smiling. I gave him a return smile.
"Miguel," I said, holding out my hand. The boy shook it, smiling wider. "Yours?"
"Connor," the boy answered running a hand through his short hair. "And you have a nice name," he complimented. I nodded.
"It is a nice name," I replied. "And so is yours."
Our relationship was mostly like that for the first few months. Awkward compliments but we never minded.
~~~

"Can you help me study for this test," Connor asked, his hair longer now and I kinda liked it. It made him look h- attractive.

"Sure," I answered. "Though I suck at the subject, not gonna lie." Connor chuckled, he always seemed to laugh with me, more than usual.

"It's fine M," he said. "Though you're the only one I trust to help me study." I noogied his head, laughing. Connor blushed.

"Aw, that's so sweet~!" My voice came out more flirty than I intended it to be. "You like being alone with me~!" Connor giggled, still blushing.

"Maybe I do~," He replied back with his own flirty tone. This caused me to blush.

In another life, I would make you stay, so I don't have to say you were the one that got away.

So, I liked Connor, big deal, it's not like it went anywhere. As much as I hoped it would, and now...

More tears fell, I was full on sobbing now. I don't think I'd ever cried this much before. Connor was dead. My friend was dead. No more friends thing would we do together. I would never tell him how I had felt about him.

~~~
"You're staring," Connor commented. I blushed and looked away. I shook my head.
"No you've got it wrong, Connie," I said. "I wasn't staring at you, I was staring at the artwork in your book, did you draw those?" Connor went scarlet and covered the drawings with his hands. "They're good!" I complimented. "Nothing to be ashamed of!"
"Like you being an open rainbow?" He asked, smiling slightly. I giggled at him.
"Why hide? Seems ridiculous." Sure, Connor and I had had fights but we'd always come out of them. "I like boys, so what? Let the world think what they think!" Connor rolled his eyes, yet smiled.
"So basically, love is love?"
"Yeah basically," I answered glancing at Connor smiling. I was also blushing but he didn't notice.
"Huh fun," his eyes then darkened and I looked at him, smiling dropping.
"Connor?"
"Hm?"
"Are you okay dude?" I asked, eying him suspiciously. Connor nodded.
"I'm fine," he answered, though his voice cracked. I took his hand, causing him to blush.
"Are you su-"
"Dude I'm fine!" He suddenly snapped and I coiled backward. Connor blinked and then looked away. "I'm going to the bathroom."
"Connor-"
"Don't follow," he commanded. I blinked, why was he acting anti-social?
~~~

I sighed. Then he left my school and I never told him. And now he's dead.

I stood by his grave. There was a flower in my hand. I placed the flower down and kissed the tombstone.

"I should've told you what you meant to me, cause now I've payed the price. Guess this is goodbye, I'm sorry, I couldn't be there for you," I said. "Love, Miguel."

Okay this was a shorter one, but I was inspired by The One That Got Away to write Conguel.
