Chapter 18 - My Life for You

As Ragini looked at her siblings and best friends fight and gain the upper hand, she could finally see a new hope for their survival. "Finally! Finally it will all be over."

"Not so fast girl!" Before Ragini could say a word, Pawan muffled her voice and took her away, unnoticed by the rest busy in fighting. Ragini could only shout unheard, silent cries as he pulled her with him towards the roof.

Sanskar kicked Rajat hard on the chin, making him fall unconscious on the floor. He looked around to see Laksh, Mani and Rishi gaining the upper hand. However, something seemed amiss.

It took him a moment to realize that Ragini was no longer there. And neither was Pawan. His blood turned cold on the realization. "Guys! Guys, where is Ragini?!"

Rishi and the others finished off the rest of the goons and looked around. "She was right here."

"Rishi bhai! Pawan isn't here either."

Laksh looked around and saw the door to the terrace open. "Guys, that way!"

All four of them rushed towards the terrace. On reaching there, they saw Ragini being held at gunpoint by Pawan.

"Don't come forward or I'll shoot!" Pawan threatened. "Make a safe path for me to pass from here without the police being able to catch me. If you don't..." he pushed the gun harder on Ragini's neck.

"No! No wait! Don't hurt her!" Rishi exclaimed. Pawan stood there near the edge of the building.

Below, the police officers could see their figures. Swara and Tanuja reached their as well. While they were happy that they were all alive, they felt fear seeing Ragini's situation.

"Oh no! Ragini." Tanuja exclaimed in worry.

"Officer. Officer, do something! What if Pawan pushes her off the building or shoots her?!" Swara spoke in panic.

The officer felt irritated at the fact that they didn't listen to his advice and stay back. But he could understand that it was their concern for their loved ones that made them do it.

"Don't worry ma'am. We've got everything under control." they were distracted by Pawan's shout.

"Tell them to back off Rishi! Or else, she dies!"

"Bhai no. Let him kill me. I'm ready to die. But don't let him escape. Please bhai! Don't let this evil bastard get away. Put him behind bars bhai." Ragini cried out.

"Shut up bitch!" Pawan shouted, pulling her hair, making her scream out in pain.

"Ragini!" exclaimed Sanskar and Laksh. None of them noticed Mani slowly sneaking to the side and approaching Pawan with slow steps.

"Let me escape safely!" Pawan exclaimed. He noticed Sanskar and Laksh moving closer. "Don't come closer! I'm telling you. Don't dare come near me. Move back!" he shouted, while moving back himself further towards the edge.

"Pawan, don't you dare fire the gun! If you do, there is no way I will let you live." Rishi warned.

"Then do as I say!"

As Rishi kept Pawan engaged in his talks, Sanskar whispered to Laksh. "Lucky, listen. I've got a plan."

Laksh kept looking forward, but whispered back. "Alright. What is it?"

"I'll push him over the edge."

"But bhai, you might fall off as well." Laksh reasoned. But on seeing Sanskar's knowing look, he understood that his bhai knew it as well, but was willing to do it.

"Keep her happy, alright?"

"Eh?" Laksh asked in confusion.

"Ragini. Keep Ragini happy, alright?"

Laksh's eyes widened. "W-what are you saying?"

"I...I'm ending this Pawan today so that you all can live a happy life. I can't see any of you hurt and th-"

"And that's why you're thinking of sacrificing yourself? No! No way bhai! I won't let you do any such thing!"

"Lucky, listen to me! That is the only way. I'll grab Pawan and push him over the edge. As for Ragu, I don't have to fear for her future. Because I know you love her truly and you will keep her happy."

"But...but you love her as well."

"I do. I love her. I love her more than my own life. I want to live and have a family with her. But I can't be selfish." Sanskar said in a shaky voice. "If I want to save her, I must sacrifice myself."

Laksh felt like crying. "Bhai please. Sanky don't do this. I...I already lost Sneha Di. I can't lose you as well."

Sanskar gave him a soft smile. "You've grown into a great guy Lucky. I'm proud of you bro. Never forget that." he looked forward towards Pawan. "Tell Maa and Baba I'm sorry for leaving them. Give my love to Ragu. Never let her shed a tear, okay Lucky?"

Laksh wanted to argue, but knew his brother wasn't changing his decision. Barely stifling his sobs, Laksh nodded.

He watched as Sanskar moved closer to Pawan. Laksh was in awe at what his brother was about to do. 'I...I thought no one could love Ragini more than me. But now...now bhai is ready to sacrifice his own life for us. Rishi would do the same. But Sanky is sacrificing himself as he knows how much Rishi means to Ragini. I thought my love for Ragini was beyond limits. But compared to Sanskar's love for Ragini, it's nothing!'

With slow steps, Sanskar move ahead towards Pawan. However, before he could execute his plan, Mani came from the side and grabbed Pawan's wrist, raising GE gun to the air.

"Mani!" Rishi exclaimed as he saw Mani struggling with Pawan, trying to get the gun from his hands.

Mani managed to push Ragini towards Sanskar and get her safe. At once, he grabbed Pawan tightly in his hold and looked towards Rishi.

Rishi felt his heart still at the look his brother was giving him. He knew what Mani was about to do. Ragini gasped as she realized it as well.

"Mani no! Mani, don't you dare!" Rishi shouted in panic.

However, Mani only gave a shaky smile in return, with a struggling Pawan still in his grip. "Good bye Ragu. Goodbye Rishi bhai. Love you both." saying that, Mani pushed himself and Pawan over the edge of the building.

"Mani!" Ragini shouted after him. She couldn't handle the shock and fell unconscious in Sanskar's arms.

"Nooo!" Rishi gave a heart-wrenching cry and charged forward. However, the only thing he could do was look down the building. "Mani!!!"
