Phoenix's POV
Disclaimer: I have never been to London nor on the London Eye.

Today is one of the rare dates my dad is off. He called the school and my work and said I was sick today so we could spend time together. Kai knows that I'm spending the day with my dad and is taking notes for me.

Fortunately, one of the few forms of entertainment we have is an annual fair that comes for a month each year to each area, each area being a circular plot of land with a 30 mile radius in every direction. This month is our month considering our area is number 10 in state 27, so we always have our fair in October, which is good considering we don't have to deal with the scorching heat of the summer, which most people prefer to go to the beaches if they can find time off.

My dad has made it a tradition if you can find at least one day off in October he takes me every year to the fair. It has become one of my favorite activities that I look forward all year to, even though they have the same rides that I've ridden a hundred times every year.

The fair is also a time when me and my dad can really just have fun together in a carefree and happy manner as if all our troubles faded away at the gate.

My dad rides every ride with me every year as if I'm still a five year old, but I don't mind in fact I love that he does. It reminds me of when a time when I thought everyone read picture books with their families, a time when I thought it was normal to talk about what the world was like before, a seemingly simpler time.

"What do you want to ride first?" He asks me when we're almost to the fair.

"How about the one that used to be called bumper cars?" I reply.

"Anything for my phoenix," he smiles.

We almost always start with bumper cars. That ride was always my favorite. I guess the fact that the main concept of that ride is to break almost every traffic law drilled into us is appealing to me.

We soon reached the fair and headed to the bumper cars. I drove my car into everyone else's except my dad instead I protected him from getting hit by others.

We rode more rides after that including what used to be called the Ferris wheel. My dad told me when I was younger that there used to be a huge ones all over the world for scenic purposes including one in a city called London, called the London Eye. He said he used to go there with his parents. Every year when we ride this one he tells me stories of what he saw from those scenic rides.

"One time, the few times I wasn't with my parents was when one of the fae I grew up with married his amor aeternus, he was my best friend and one year he went with my family to the London Eye.

"He happened to meet his amor aeternus inside the London Eye. She was another fae who happened to live in London, and just felt like going on the London Eye that day.

"As a light fae he was obsessed with photography he ended up bumping into her right as Big Ben, the Clock Tower, told the city it was noon as our observatory pod reached the top allowing whole city to be in view. Upon looking at her he completely forgot about his picture and dropped his camera. The rest of the way down you could feel the love between them as they talked to each other.

"He stayed in London to be with her and on their 1 month anniversary he proposed in the same pod at the same time as a pod reached the top. They had an 11 month engagement and on their one year anniversary at exactly noon they said I do at the top of the London Eye in the same pod and which they met.

"The vows were spoken in Latin no one thought anything of it considering Latin was used sometimes in religious events it was considered more romantic that only the bride and groom (and a few others) knew what they were saying to each other." He told me in a nostalgic tone.

The hopeless romantic side of me could see it in my head except replacing my Dad's friend and his amor aeternus, as myself and Amator. The thought was bittersweet.

"Where are they now?" I asked curious.

"Still in London last time I saw them was a month before the law was passed saying citizens of this country cannot leave this country." He responded.

The day continued in the fun, easy, laidback way, in which it began only ending we had to go home.

When I got home I did my nightly routine of brushing my teeth and taking a shower I'm getting out of the shower there was a notification on my communicator is that I had a private date with Lucifer tomorrow. As I read this a small seed of dread was put into my stomach.
