Nancy's POV

I closed the hypothetical book, not wanting to read another page, my eyes were tired. I removed my glasses then placed a strand of my shoulder length hair behind my ear then sighed.
My chin met my palm as my elbow rested on the wooden desk. I also had just done sorting out some science fiction books in alphabetical order. I was tired.

Sandra my boss, had wanted me to work overtime. I had nothing in particular to do anyways so I sat down waiting for someone to enter the doors of this library.

Buzz!

The door buzzer buzzed, signaling that someone had entered. I removed my chin from my palm and adjusted myself. I curiously turned around to see who it was.

The person came into view. It was a tall guy with mousy hair. He stood there observing the library as he scrunched up his nose as if the books had some sort of contagious disease. He then started to come my way.

He made his way in front of the  the wooden table that I was behind of.

" Excuse me? " he said politely.

" Yes, can I help you?" I asked.

He didn't respond. He only slid a piece of paper on the desk and kept his head down not saying another word. I slowly took up the paper, unfolded it and smoothed it out with my fingers from its crumbled state.

It was a list of books.

"Do you need these to borrow?" I asked.

" Well...yeah " he said as if it was obvious.

"Lucy! " I called.

" I'm busy!" She responded, her voice seemed to be coming from behind of one of the shelves.

Well, this means that I'll have to get the books myself, I had no problem leaving the counter, seeing that there weren't going to be any other customers....for now.

"Come this way" I said, while leading the way like a tour guide.

" Does this place normally smell like this?" The boy asked.

" I don't see any difference about the smell,so yeah" I answered.

" Ah, right here. Hold this" I spoke as I handed the book to the boy.

" Why the hell his this so heavy, it's so thick" The boy said as he furrowed his eyebrows.

" Ya think?" I responded sarcastically.

" I know when someone's being sarcastic" He spoke, in a low voice.

I simply smiled at him then placed another heavy book in his hand, then moved into a different ile, while the boy had muttered incoherent words.

I took the last book from the shelf then placed it on top of the pile he struggled to hold in his hands.

"Come on" I spoke while internally laughing at his struggle.

I returned behind the counter and bent down to grab the big blue book.

I opened it and placed it on the counter, while simultaneously doing the same thing with a pen.

" Sign here, here, and here" I said and pointed at the blank spaces in the book.

" I have my own pen" The boy responded.

I had no idea how he was going to reach his pen that was in his pocket with pile of books in his hands. Of course he could rest the books on the counter, but I guess his brain gave up on him.

" Fine then" he spoke as he gave up and used the one I placed on the counter.

" Thank you, come again" I said nicely as I'd say to every customer who came.

" Yeah sure" He replied in a sarcastic way. After the door closed I sighed and rested my head on the counter.
