You sat quietly on your couch as the Edmonton vs. Boston game was about to start. Jake had just finished up talking with his dad. You couldn't help but smile at the relationship they had. Suddenly you felt your heart drop, you missed Jake so much.

You guys had started dating when Jake was playing in the WHL. You two were so happy together you really thought he was the one. Things started going south after Jake got drafted by Boston. You were so happy for him that you didn't realize how far Boston actually was from Edmonton.

That summer was great for you two until Jake had to leave for training camp. You remembered his last day in Edmonton as if it was the back of your hand. You two sat on his front steps as you told him you got accepted into UofA for the up coming year. You then started crying and blurted out what you thought was the right thing to say. You broke up with Jake thinking you weren't able to handle the distance while he played in Boston and you lived in Edmonton. You left his house that night leaving him speechless and confused. You two haven't said a word to each other since.

You came back to reality as you heard the anthems begin on the TV.

You watched the first and second period of the game. Your mood got worse as the game went on that you eventually turned the TV off and started crying. You always watched Jake's games but today felt harder to do so. You laid on your couch not knowing what to do with yourself.

You laid there for a while until you got a notification on your phone. Letting you know the game was going into overtime. Suddenly you felt like this was your chance to try and see Jake. So you got up quickly made yourself look presentable and drove down to Rogers Place.

Forgetting how much traffic the games caused you found yourself in downtown Edmonton traffic. You got to the arena eventually and walked around the building until you found the players entrance. Knowing you couldn't get in you decided to sit on the curb near the door.

You could tell that Boston won because groups of Edmonton fans quietly walked passed you. You waited about 30 minutes seeing Oilers players leave and some of Jakes teammates. You were about to give up when you heard a familiar laugh come to a stop.

"Y/N?" you heard Jake say from behind you

You looked up at him with tears in your eyes.

"What are you doing here"

"I came to see you" you choked out

"How long have you been out here it's pretty cold"

You shrugged your shoulders still keeping eye contact with him.

"Let's get out of this wind and go to my car and talk"

You nodded as he lead the way to his car. He put his stuff in the back seat before he opened your door for you. He then ran around to the drivers side and got in. You two sat in silence the only sound you heard was the car running.

"I was so stupid" you blurt out

Jake snapped his head up in confusion "What?"

"I was so stupid that night. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm such a mess now I have zero social life because all I think about is you, all I see is you. I'm just so stu—"

Suddenly you feel a familiar set of lips on yours.

"Still works" He said breaking the kiss and smiling

"Listen Y/N, you were not stupid and you still aren't. I knew you were scared not knowing how we were gonna make things work so you did what you thought was right for us. There's not a day that goes by where I don't think of you"

"I miss you Jake" you said crying

"I miss you too Y/N. Please don't cry" he said as he wiped your tears away

You took a breath before talking again.

"I'd like to try long distance"

Jakes eyes went wide and bright after you said that "Really?"

You nodded your head. "Let's try it for the rest of the season if I really can't handle it I can try transferring to BU"

It was Jake's turn to cry. "You'd really do that for me"

"I'd do anything for you. I love you" you said as you wiped his tears away

"I love you too" Jake said before kissing you again

That night Jake decided to stay the night at your place. He would just head over to Calgary on his own in the morning. You finally could fall asleep without crying or worrying. You had your Jake back and he wasn't going anywhere.
