"You going to tell me where we're going or what we're doing?" You ask Kailer as he focuses on the road

He looks over at you for a second with a smile. He shakes his head "No, because then what's the point of a surprise?" He said looking back to the road

You pout as your cross your arms over your chest. "No fair"

Kailer laughs.

Eventually you two drive into a city park. It looked really pretty with all the sparking fresh snow on the trees and paths.

"What are we doing here?" You ask

"I thought it would be nice to get out and go for a walk around the park" He said as he found a parking spot and pulled in

You smile as you get out of the car and join him at the back. "What's with the bag?" You ask him as he grabs a backpack from the trunk.

He slips is on "You'll see" He says with a smile

You just shrug it off knowing he wasn't going to tell you. Kailer closes the trunk before taking your hand in his.

You two walked around the park for a while until approaching the frozen duck pond. There were people skating all around it. You and Kailer sat on a park bench watching everyone skate.

"Sometimes I wish I could move like that" You say as a little kid zipped by on the ice

"You can always learn" Kailer says

You shake your head "No thanks"

"Come on Y/N. How long has it been since you've been on the ice?" He asks

You sigh "I was ten when I was on the ice last. I've been scared ever since. That was the worst accident ever. I had a really bad concussion and I broke my arm"

"I don't want you to be scared anymore. I want to help you face your fear"

"I-I don't know K, I don't even own skates anymore. Plus I enjoy being on solid ground" You say trying to make up an excuse

"Well good news for you. I have skates for you" Kailer says grabbing the bag and opening it

He pulling two pairs of skates out. "What do you say Y/N. I won't leave your side until you say you're good" He tries to negotiate

"You promise?" You say biting your lip

"I promise" Kailer says as he holds his pinky up

You hesitate but then interlock pinkies with him. He smiles as he crouches down to help you with your skates. He gets you all laced up and then he does his own.

"Ready?" He asks as he holds your hand before stepping on to the ice

You nod slowly. Kailer gets on the ice first so that he could help you. You look down at the ice, hesitating.

"You'll be okay. I won't let anything happen to you" He assures you

You make eye contact with him as you hang on to his hands for dear life. You slowly step out onto the ice. You slowly take a few small steps as Kailer holds you.

"There you go Y/N. Just take your time. We're not leaving until you're skating again" He tells you

You nervously laugh "That might take a while"

"I don't have anything to do tomorrow so take as long as you need"

"Great, there's no getting out of this" You whine

"Nope" Kailer says with a smile

You hung onto Kailer for dear life. You slowly started moving more and more as Kailer guided you. The sun was setting and everyone in the park had left. It was just you and Kailer now.

"I think you're ready for me to let go" Kailer says as he tries to move away from you

"No, No Kailer. Don't let go" You yell

Kailer laughs "Why are you screaming. You're fine" He said from two feet away from you

You realized you were standing on the ice, without holding Kailer. You started to calm down

"I hate you, you know that" You tell him as you stand there

Kailer easily skates around you "No you don't. You just hate that I was right"

He skates down the pond and back over to you.  You look down at your feet and look back up at your boyfriend who was flying around. You slowly start to glide your feet along until you got more comfortable. You skated your way to Kailer, who had his back to you. You were about to reach for him as he turns, knocking into you. Your feet lost balance as you fell backwards. You never feel the cold ice though. You feel a tug on your jacket and Kailer is hanging into it, bringing you back to your feet.

"I promised nothing was going to happen to you" He says smiling

You smile and hug him. "Let's get out of here" He says as the lone lamp post lights up the pond

"What? I was just starting to have fun" You say

"Fine we'll stay a bit longer"

You smile and grab his hand as you two continue to skate around the pond together.
