Feeling really great! Got up a bit late today and decided to check Wattpad first thing because my notifications were going crazy. Turns out, I won second in the best writing style category and in addition to another award for the best blurb category! Can you believe it? Say something about yourself as an author and as an individual.

As an author, I'm a bit of a newbie, just testing the waters with no real writing background – still learning the ropes. On the personal front, I'm wrapping up my final year of high school, gearing up to dive into university life in a couple of months. Exciting times ahead!

Since when did you start writing? What/Who inspires you to do so?

I jumped into writing about five months ago when I hopped onto Wattpad. It wasn't a planned thing at all – one day, I just decided to create an account and thought, "Why not start writing?" Kind of spontaneous, you know? The funny part is, I had the title and the ending line for my book right from the start, but zero clue about the plot. And guess what? Even now, I'm still figuring out where the plot is headed. It's a wild ride!

What is your very first book to be written? What’s your inspiration for this?

My debut book is titled 'Dungeon', and it's the initial spin-off in a series of five. The main inspiration behind it comes from being a massive fan of Dan Brown, particularly the Robert Langdon series. There's this captivating quality in Brown's books that sparks a sense of intrigue and fascination in readers, and that really influenced and inspired me as I started my own writing journey.

In all of the books you written, which is your favorite and why?

Given that I currently have only one book under my belt, let's talk about my favorite chapter instead. Chapter 11 holds a special place for me. It weaves together symbolism from religious elements and delves into the theme of science versus religion, portraying them as two sides of the same coin. The chapter highlights the idea that if you focus solely on one side and disregard the other, things could take a downturn. It's a meaningful exploration that resonates with the overall narrative.

What’s the book’s genre? Sub-genre?

The book falls primarily under the mystery/thriller genre, with action sequences adding a sub-genre twist. Crime plays a significant role in the storyline, adding an extra layer to the overall narrative.

Who among your original characters relates you most? Why and how?

I'd say I relate quite a bit to Bryan, the main protagonist in 'Dungeon'. The connection comes from immersing myself in his perspective while writing. I often find myself asking what I would do in the situations he faces, so his actions end up mirroring my own, albeit with the added bonus of his impressive fighting skills. If only I had those in real life!

Have you won any book awards before? Which one of your masterpieces?

I'm thrilled to share that I've secured nine wins since my writing journey began. Notably, 'Dungeon' has earned first-place accolades in the mystery/thriller category, best plot twist, best blurb, best description, and best author. It's a source of immense pride for me, considering that these victories span across various aspects that collectively contribute to the overall making of a book. I'm honored to consider 'Dungeon' as a masterpiece, given its success in multiple categories.

Do you experience Writer’s Block? How do you cope with it?

Surprisingly, I don't feel the weight of Writer's Block too intensely since I'm not bound by a predetermined plot. The freedom of not knowing exactly where the story is headed is a major advantage for me. It allows me to approach writing with ease—I can simply open Wattpad, start typing, and hit publish. While I do encounter writer's block in certain sections of my chapters, the good news is it doesn't linger for too long. Ideas tend to pop up out of nowhere, and I can keep the creative flow going.

Instead of writing, what are your other hobbies/talents?

Apart from writing, I'm an avid reader with a passion for diving into various genres. Beyond the literary realm, I'm a devoted Model United Nations (MUN) enthusiast. When I'm not engaged in Wattpad, you'll likely find me representing a country in one of the MUN sessions, exploring my interests beyond the world of words.

Do you have any tips for other writers out there? Your championship might be an inspiration to others. Here’s your chance to let them hear your voice.

Given my status as an amateur writer, I don't have a wealth of writing tips to offer as I'm still in the learning process myself. However, I'd encourage fellow writers to keep participating in various platforms. Each award book you encounter involves different judges, and with each interaction, you receive unique tips and insights about your story. This process allows for continuous improvement. Moreover, try to steer clear of clichéd plots. In a saturated genre like mystery/thriller, for instance, setting your story apart can be achieved by introducing unique elements. In my case, the use of murder verses by the antagonist distinguishes my work. Having a fresh and different plot not only enhances reader engagement but also increases the likelihood of getting your book recognized. So, keep writing, keep experimenting, and most importantly, keep improving. Success often comes from the willingness to learn and evolve.
