A/n: Challenge: Try to decipher Zane's nonsense.

It was a beautiful day in Ninjago. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the butterflies were fluttering about, and Misako and Wu were taking a nice stroll through the park.

Wu sighed happily. ''Oh, Misako. All the time we have known each other...''

''Someone wise once said, "We do not go forward by looking back." She replied softly.

''When did I say that?'' The Old Tea-Obsessed Man asked.

''Never. I did.'' Misako answered. The pair shared a laugh before hearing a scream. The Time Twins and the Vermillion Army appeared, jumping out of the bushes in front of them.

People screamed and ran out of the park, while their enemies came closer. The twins were taking their time, walking with a swagger. There seemed to be a familiar shaped silhouette of a person behind them, but they weren't that noticeable.

''Stay by my side, Misako. Misako?'' Wu asked, and looked to his side, only to see her disappear in a cloud of dust. The Time Twins laughed evilly, taking off their masks which hid much of their face.

The old man woke up, to find himself in his bed, as it was just a dream.

''Misako! At my side.'' The Old Man said, relieved.

''Of course. As I always will be. And as you always will be for me. What is it, Wu?'' The Old Woman asked, worried.

''I haven't told anyone, but when I fought Acronix at the monastery, something...happened. Something bad.'' Wu answered.

Morro stood by the closed door, listening in on their conversation. He then glanced around, to see if anyone was there, before continuing to do what he was doing.

Meanwhile, in the Samurai X cave, Nya was looking after Zane.

''This is bad. I told everyone to go back to the Airjitzu Temple while I got you back online and still nothing. All I got left is trying a total system reboot.'' The Water Ninja said, pressing a button which made Zane twitch and stand up.

''Nya!'' Frosty the Ice Ninja said, looking relieved.

''Oh, I'm so glad you're—'' Nya replied.

''That potato was a flange. 41, 824. A narwhal horn is too red as weather is greater than pudding. Fifty sheet auto doc feeder.'' Zane interrupted and walked away from the table.

The Water Ninja stopped him before he could go any further, and walked him back to the table. ''Okay, Zane. Take it easy. That's it.''

''Banana curtain nine.'' Error 404 replied.

''Oh, come on! I've tried everything.'' Nya said, bonking him on the head with a screwdriver. ''What is going on in there?''

''What is going on is I'm trying to unscramble Zane's neural pathways so we can go rescue Cyrus Borg. And you haven't tried everything. You need to realign Zane's neural inputs. Can you hear me? Hello—'' Pixie/Pixal said, trying to help.

''Hello? Hot dog rainy day in seven.'' Zane replied.

''Okay, maybe what you need is...'' The Water Ninja said, thinking.

''Don't say a new binary power core,'' Pixal spoke.

''...a new binary power core! I'll be right back.'' Nya told the nindroid, and ran out of the cave.

''Wait, no! Don't leave!'' The-girl-in-Zane's-head said, unheard.

''Plate! Show! Clipboard!---'' Frosty the Ice Ninja exclaimed.

''And at the monastery, Acronix hit me with what he called the "Time Punch." Now I'm rapidly ageing. I would estimate one day every hour. The effect is accelerating and will continue to do so until—'' Wu explained.

''Master Wu?'' Lloyd asked. ''Wait, why are you here Morro?''

The Master of Wind quickly dashed out of the room, while Lloyd gave him a confused look.

''Say nothing. The Ninja must not be distracted at this crucial time.'' Wu told Misako.

''They might be able to help you.'' The Elderly Woman replied.

The Green Bean knocked. ''May I enter?'' He questioned.

''My fate is inevitable, Misako. Like the sun rising in the east, like fall turning into winter...'' The Elderly Tea-Obsessed Man told her.

''Wu—'' Misako replied.

''Master Wu?'' Lloyd asked, walking into the room.

Wu gasped. ''You must keep my secret.'' He said, whispering. Misako nodded in response.

''How is he?'' Greenie questioned, looking concerned.

''Still recovering.'' The Old Woman replied.

''So little time, so many lessons! Fight with your back to the sun. Eight cups of water a day is a myth. You should have been there when I fought Acronix. But I-I—'' Wu spoke, before closing his eyes.

''He's right. I should have been at his side. I failed my Master. I will not make that mistake again.'' Lloyd told himself.

Kai and Morro were destroying the training robots while Cole and Jay trained together.

(Y/n) was practising using her manriki-kusari on a dummy, trying to avoid getting hit by the weight on the end of the chain.

Cole was punching the punching pads Jaybird held, thinking. ''Zane is down. Folks disappearing all over town, and we can't do a thing to help! If we just knew why Acronix and Krux are taking people.'' Cake Devourer said in frustration.

''You know, my theory—'' Jaybird spoke.

''For the last time, they are not hostages.'' Cole interrupted.

''How can you be sure?'' The Lightning Ninja asked.

''No ransom note.'' The Earth Ninja replied.

''Maybe they're gonna hypnotize them into being an army?'' Jay questioned.

''Krux and Acronix already have an army. Of Samurai snakes.'' Cole told him.

''Well, you know my other theories—'' Jaybird said.

''Do not say alien abductions again, or dimensional rifts, or elfin magic portals!'' Cake Devourer exclaimed in frustration, before launching himself into the air, his fists glowing orange as he landed, hurling Jay into the air.

''Sorry. It's just...I'm tired of speculating. We need to take action!'' Cole told him. ''Right, Kai? Kai? You okay? You haven't been the same since you squared off against Krux. Did...did he do something?'' He asked the Fire Ninja.

''More like said something. No, Nothing. I'm fine.'' Kai replied. Morro walked over him, looking concerned.

''Good, 'cause I was just saying it's time to stop guessing and to start fighting!'' The Earth Ninja said.

''So you're saying we capture one of those snake guys and bring them back here for Wu to question?'' Burnt Toast asked.

''I just want to fight somebody. But okay, we could do that too.'' Cole replied.

''I could get Remo to follow them.'' (Y/n) said. The little snake lifted his head at the mention of his name.

''That plan won't work,'' Lloyd told the others, walking down the steps to them.

''Why not?'' Kai asked.

''Because Master Wu still hasn't recovered from his battle with Acronix. He rambles. He passes out. I think he's a lot more hurt than he lets on.'' Green Bean replied.

''Oh, great! All this and now we have no leader, either?'' Weather Boy questioned.

''Uh, that's not exactly true. Ahem! With Wu out of commission, the, um...logical successor would be, uh...'' Lloyd replied awkwardly.

''The Green Ninja.'' Cake Devourer finished.

''Correct.'' Greenie said.

''Uh, Master Lloyd?'' Cole replied.

"Temporary Master Lloyd," you mean.'' Burnt Toast corrected.

'"...in Training." Jay finished.

(Y/n) tried to give him a reassuring smile, but it quickly disappeared.

''Okay, Temporary Master Lloyd in Training, we mere Ninja await your words of wisdom. Which I assume involve kicking some butt till we get a few answers. Right?'' Cake Devourer asked before the ninja cheered and ran past him.

''Wrong. Too random. We need a plan.'' Lloyd answered, making the others skid to a halt.

''We have one. Go kick some butt.'' Flame Brain told him.

''Really? Who's butt? Where?'' Greenie asked.

''Someone's butt at least, I just don't know,'' Morro answered.

''We'll work it out down there,'' Kai added.

''No. We'll work it out here first. That's what Wu would do. Come on!'' Lloyd urged, walking back up the steps into the temple.

''Oh, yay, I just love sitting around and talking instead of doing.'' Burnt Toast replied sarcastically.

''Cut him some slack, guys. He's doing the best he can.'' Cole told the others.

''Well, I'd be sure to do that.'' (Y/n) replied.

Meanwhile, back in Ninjago city, the metal was starting to disappear.

A guy was carrying a trash can filled with metal to the garbage truck. He took the trash can lid off and put the metal into the truck.

''Huh?'' He said, confused, seeing the trash can lid gone. As soon as he turned his back, the trash can disappeared. ''Aw, come on. Jimmy! You ain't gonna believe—'' The guy said, and looked around, to see no one. ''Jimmy?'' The whole truck was gone too.

''Hey, hey! Just calling to tell you that I'm walking to the coffee shop now!'' A man said, talking into his phone.

''Cool! I'll see you there!'' Said the guy on the other end, who was walking beside him, unknowing that his friend was right next to him. The cell tower then mysteriously vanished.

''Hello? Hello? Hm, no bars. What's going on?'' Asked the first, confused.

''Can you hear me now? Now? Aah!'' The second said, before turning around to see the cell tower MIA.

''The cell tower is down!'' The first man screamed, and soon everyone was screaming as they ran down the street, panicking.

Dareth looked at his trophies, only to find them missing. ''Aah! My trophies! Why would someone steal them? Why? Why!?'' He asked.

The Brown Ninja screamed as he ran to Swiper's shop.

''Someone stole my trophies!'' Dareth screamed as he ran in, grabbing Ronin's shoulders.

''I have an alibi!'' Swiper replied. ''Wait. Why would anyone steal your fake trophies?''

''I know! They were irreplaceable. Which is why I'm here to buy replacements.'' The Brown Ninja told him.

''You want world championships this time or just intercontinental?'' Ronin asked.

''Uh, um, let's mix and match,'' Dareth answered.

''One sec,'' Swiper replied and walked over to get a trophy. Dareth heard the clanging of metal behind him, and he looked to see Vermillion rummaging around in Ronin's shop.

Not long after, Ronin came back, holding a fake trophy, noticing the Pile of Snakes in his shop.

''Uh, they're not with me,'' Dareth informed.

''Fellas, we have a very strict store policy against shoplifting,'' Swiper told them, pointing to a sign he had on the wall. When they didn't answer Ronin pulled a lever to make the sign spring out, hitting them and knocking them down.

The Brown Ninja then noticed more of the Vermillion Warriors outside carrying his beloved fake trophies. ''Hey, those are my trophies! Give them back!'' Dareth exclaimed, running outside and trying to get them back, only for Ronin to use his Salvage M.E.C and escape with him.

As Lloyd was explaining his plan, Jay was slurping his drink while (Y/n) and Morro ate some of his candy, trying to see how many they could eat without the Green Bean noticing.

''So I think we can safely rule out—'' Lloyd said, being interrupted as Jaybird slurped his drink, stopping as Green Bean turned around. ''these places as hiding spots for the missing people.'' Ginja did it once again. ''These are too small. These are too public. And these are too obvious.'' He said, getting annoyed as Jay did it again.

''Or are they so obvious that they're actually the perfect hiding spot?'' Jaybird questioned.

''Hm. Interesting.'' Lloyd replied and looked back at the drawing board, turning to glare at Jay as he slurped his drink once again.

''What are you doing?'' Cole asked.

''I'm bored. So I'm messing with him.'' The Lightning answered, whispering.

''But now Lloyd's starting over! He's gonna take even longer.'' Kai replied, making Jay sigh but (Y/n) shrug indifferently.

Ronin and Dareth then walked in. ''Sorry to interrupt what looks to be the most boring party game ever, but the city's under attack down there,'' Swiper told them.

''Yes!'' All of the ninja in the room except for Morro and (Y/n) exclaimed.

''Oh, I mean, that's horrible,'' Jay replied awkwardly.

''Terrible.''

''The worst.''

''Awesome,'' Morro spoke, tossing a piece of candy and catching it in his mouth, making the others look at him.

''There's a bunch of Samurai and snakes stealing every piece of metal they can find.'' Ronin replied.

''They took my trophies. My trophies!'' The Brown Ninja added.

''Your beloved trophies, who knew you couldn't survive without them.'' (Y/n) told him sarcastically, rolling her eyes.

''Any sign of Krux or Acronix?'' Cole asked.

''Who?'' Swiper questioned, confused.

''Doesn't matter. Let's go!'' Cake Devourer replied, and the other boys began to leave.

''W-wait. This doesn't make sense. Why are they after metal?'' Green Bean asked.

''We can ask as we pummel them,'' Jay answered.

''No. It might be a diversion to draw us away from the Temple so they can finish off Master Wu.'' Lloyd replied.

''We can't just ignore the damage they're doing.'' Cake Devourer told him.

''Nor that they have my trophies,'' Dareth spoke.

''I'm not leaving Master Wu unprotected again.'' Green Machine told the others.

''But we're going,'' Kai replied.

''I'm ordering you to stay,'' Lloyd told them sternly.

''And we're ignoring that order.'' Burnt Toast replied. (Y/n) was the only one who stayed, along with Remo, who just woke up from a nap on her shoulders.

''So...'' Ronin said, looking at Lloyd.

''Just go.'' The Green Ninja replied, and the others left, with (Y/n) leaving the remaining bits of candy. ''Nya will have my back.'' He said and tried to call her, but there was no wifi.

Below ground, the Vermillion Army and the Twins travelled through the sewers.

''All these tunnels under the city look the same, huh? Pretty confusing, I'll bet.'' Acronix said to his brother.

''It's a secret lair. It's supposed to be hard to find.'' Krux replied, pulling out a map.

''Yeah, but not for us.'' Younger Boomer told him.

''I'll figure it out in a second.'' Older Boomer said.

''Oh, get with the time, brother. My new BorgWatch has built-in GPS, the, uh...'' Acronix said awkwardly as he realised one thing.

''What's wrong?'' Krux asked.

''Um...nothing. Just respecting your feelings about tradition and—'' His brother answered, quickly hiding his BorgWatch.

Krux grabbed his brother's wrist and looked at the BorgWatch. ''No service. That's why I don't get with the times. The old ways are still superior. Follow me!'' He commanded, walking closer to their destination, only to find a dead-end.

The Vermillion having obeyed their commands, unfortunately, pushed them into the wall, giving them no room to move.

''I hope things are going this well topside,'' Acronix told his brother.

''Last one up is a rotten Ninja,'' Jay told the others as they climbed up the metal scaffolding.

Nya appeared in her vehicle, with Zane.

''Clear off as many snakes as you can!'' Kai said to the others.

Morro used his wind to knock a few off, making them fall to the ground, with the others punching the Piles of Snakes to make them fall off.

''Wow! Total snake invasion!'' Dareth exclaimed as he appeared with Ronin.

''Why am I so good?'' Burnt Toast asked as he defeated some snakes. ''It's a curse, really.'' He added before the snakes regenerated into a giant Pile of Snakes in armour.

''Oh, great.'' He said, falling as it tore a few pieces of metal from the scaffolding, but Nya caught him. ''Nya, what are you doing here?'' He asked his sister.

''I came to warn you about the metal-stealing snakes, but it looks like you already know.'' The Water Ninja answered.

''How's Zane?'' Kai asked.

''He's, uh...'' Nya replied, looking down at the nindroid.

''Avocados are not vegetables! Fifty-three, eleven!'' Zane shouted.

''Uh, we're still working out some kinks.'' The Water Ninja replied awkwardly. Then, the mass of snakes attacked the siblings, but they dodged it, making it fall to the ground and regenerate into a bigger Pile of Snakes in armour with multiple heads.

''Spleen sauce, cow box!'' Frosty the Ice Ninja said.

''That's right, bring it on.'' Ronin challenged. ''Oh, boy. Feel free to jump in, Dareth.'' He said after the Pile of Snake Abomination grabbed him.

''Sorry. My back's totally jacked again.'' The Brown Ninja apologised.

''These guys took your trophies.'' Swiper reminded him.

''Brown Ninja vengeance!'' Dareth screamed, putting his mask on and fighting it while kicking poor Ronin in the process.

''Aah, my leg! I think you broke it!'' Swiper told the Brown Ninja, holding his leg.

''Ronin, are you okay?!'' (Y/n) asked, shouting.

Swiper looked up in her direction. ''I think I'm fine!'' He shouted back.

''Gotta get more snakes!'' Dareth shouted, kicking left-right and centre.

''Nya, where you going?'' Burnt Toast asked his sister, who was already at the top of the scaffolding.

''Come on!'' Water Lily urged.

''Jay, Cole, Morro and (Y/n). Let's go!'' Kai told the other ninja. They then climbed faster up, with the Vermillion chasing them.

''So, does anyone have a plan?'' Jay asked as they reached the roof.

''Welcome to Ninjago!'' Nya said, operating a crane. She then swung the metal and knocked the Vermillion off the roof.

''Nice one!'' (Y/n) exclaimed, beaming at the Water Ninja.

''It was great,'' Morro added.

The ninja met up with Lloyd, who was waiting for them at Ninjago's power plant. ''What took you so long?'' The Green Ninja asked.

''We were—Hey, how'd you know those whatever-they-ares would be coming here?'' Jaybirb questioned as they walked towards him.

''When all the power went out, I assumed they must be at the source,'' Lloyd answered.

''You figured that out yourself? Nice. We had to follow them.'' Burnt Toast replied.

''I should have been following them with you guys from the beginning. I'm sorry.'' Green Bean apologised.

''Yeah, yeah, so are we. So what's the plan, Temporary Master Lloyd?'' Jay asked.

''In training,'' Kai added.

''Hehe. We go in there and kick some snake butt. Or whatever passes for a snake's butt. Like it?'' Lloyd asked.

''I love it!'' Ginja exclaimed.

''Yeah. That's a great plan.'' Cole replied.

''The treadmill was invented in 1818,'' Zane spoke randomly, looking as if he was ready to give a hug.

''All right, snakes, time to—where are they? The place looks empty.'' Jay realised as they walked in.

''Zane, (Y/n), you detecting any snakes?'' Greenie questioned.

(Y/n)'s ears moved, listening carefully for the Vermillion, with Zane scanning their surroundings.

''Cranberries. Corkscrew. Squab.'' Frosty the Ice Ninja informed.

''Multiple contacts. Six meters in.'' Nya translated, making the others look at her with mild surprise. ''Uh, after a while, you start to pick up on the meaning.''

The Vermillion appeared, some on swivel chairs with others carrying metal with them.

''That's a bunch of Office Warriors! Literally!'' Ginja exclaimed.

''Okay, let's do this! All of us!'' Lloyd told the team.

''All of us?'' The Water Ninja asked, pointing to Zane who was walking into a wall.

''Oh, right. Zane, stay here.'' Green Bean said to the nindroid.

''Newt.'' The Master of Ice replied.

''Pretty sure that means okay,'' Moreo said.

''Ninja, go!'' The ninja exclaimed, charging at the Vermillion.

''You don't look so big,'' Cole told a mass of snakes. ''And now you do.'' He said as it reared up to face him.

(Y/n) intercepted the snake's attack with her manriki-kusari, knocking a few snakes off the Vermillion Warrior.

''A desk is no good without a chair. Have a seat!'' The Water Ninja exclaimed, pushing a swivel chair to a Vermillion Warrior that was mostly a table. It then came back, chasing Nya. ''Aw, come on!''

The Green Bean used his spinjitzu to reduce it to snakes. ''I hate not having a full team. We could really use Zane's help.'' Lloyd told Nya.

''Right now he basically has one move: short himself out with a massive blast of power. It creates a magnetic field that yanks off their armour.'' Water Lily informed him.

Lloyd turned his head to see some turbines. ''Those turbines. They're basically big rotating electromagnets, right?'' He asked.

''Yeah. Basically.'' Nya answered.

''So if Zane were to hook indirectly and supercharge one of them, all this metal armour the snakes have—'' Green Bean replied.

''I'm on it. Zane, I need you!'' Water Lily said, grabbing the nindroid and pushing him towards the turbine.

''Hog knock!'' Frosty the Ice Ninja replied.

''We have to buy Nya and Zane a little time!'' Lloyd told the others.

''Ninja, go!'' Jay exclaimed, using spinjitzu to defeat a few Vermillion.

''Got it! Now, Zane. Now!'' Nya told the nindroid.

''Gargle my pudding! Gargle my pudding!'' Zane shouted.

''We need more juice!''

''Jay, (Y/n)!''

''On it!'' The two used their lightning powers to power the turbine, making it attract all of the armour.

The Vermillion snakes began slithering towards the ninja. ''Boo!'' Kai said, making them slither away. ''That's right. Slither away! Hahaha! Way to go, Nya!''

(Y/n) crouched down to let Remo follow them. She gave him a pat on the head, making him smile. ''Be good, Remo.''

''I promise I'll do that.'' The little snake replied. ''I'm not called ''The Strong One'' for nothing.'' He then slithered away, turning invisible as he followed the Vermillion snakes.

''Way to go, Master Lloyd!'' Jay told the Green Bean.

''Yeah, you forgot the "temporary in training" part,'' Lloyd reminded him.

''I know. Don't let it go to your head.'' Jaybird replied.

''Uh, not to ruin the feel-goods, but maybe we should save the celebrating for after we get the power and Zane back on?'' Cole asked, turning to the nindroid.

Nya pressed some buttons. ''One more switch and...'' She said as the power came back on.

''Well, we know civilization has been restored. The TV is working again.'' Jay replied, looking at the screens.

Zane twitched before standing up. ''Hello, everyone. What have I missed?'' He asked.

''Oh, not much. Missing people and snakes trying to steal your metal skin. But we kicked their butts if, in fact, they have butts. It's still an open question. But for now it's game over.'' Jay answered.

''Uh, I'm not so sure about that.'' Burnt Toast spoke, pointing to the tv.

''Snakes are attacking Monster Amusement Park. They appear to be after anything metal that isn't nailed down, including the nails themselves!'' Gayle reported.

''Ninja, we're leaving,'' Lloyd told the others.

Before they got into their vehicles, Zane and Lloyd stopped to give (Y/n) a quick head pat, before hopping into their vehicles.

''Amusement Park, really? Do these guys have fun?'' Cole asked.

''Nah. More like they love metal.'' Lloyd answered.

''Agreed. I cannot think of a better place to steal it from. I'm sure you concur, Pixal... Pixal.?'' He asked the now absent girl-in-his-head

''Now let's roll. I've got a Samurai X Suit to get back.'' Nya told the others, and they left.

''Wait!'' Jay said, being left behind. ''There is a better place. A scrapyard. Like the one that belongs...to my parents!'' He realised and drove toward his parent's junkyard.
