Heaven was rarely given justice from the Bible. It is a place where God and his Son, Jesus Christ, lived together with angels and those who did virtue in their lives. It has never told mortals there were a royal family and a certain system in place in the holy kingdom of God. Clouds so pure white they sparkled like diamonds, the water crystal clear, people laughing and always full of love. They were always told to protect mortals, even though some dare sin. Or worse, commit a seven deadly sin.

(y/n) looked up at the sky, where the stars and planets were in a place where mortals would only see a blue sky. She looked over at the brilliant sun, its waves of fire adsorbing and bouncing around the small star. A single thought always came to mind whenever she looked directly at the glowing gas ball.

Morning Star

"Wake up. The circus doesn't wait for anybody."

(y/n) jumped at Sebastian's voice. He held his hand out for her to grab to exit out of the carriage. Without eye contact, she took it and felt the bitter nip of a winter frost. The circus was filled to the brim with lights flashing everywhere. They had visited the Undertaker before coming, and with surprise, even he could not determine if the children were alive or deceased.

She kept close to Sebastian's side, holding his hand the entire time as Ciel was on Sebastian's right. The plan was to disguise (y/n) as Ciel's mother; she was a widow and kept to the butler's side to keep her loneliness at ease from the passing of her husband's death. Looking around, the plan seemed to be operating excellently.

They followed the crowd as Ciel, Sebastian, and (y/n) found seats in the back of the stage. Even with (y/n)'s angel sense, there wasn't any huge childlike life force grouping around.

"Sebastian, did you see any suspicious character when entering?" Ciel asked, setting his top hat on his lap.

"I'm afraid I haven't, my lord. It seems to be a simple circus act."

(y/n) kept to silence, she wasn't too keen to speak since the incident. Ciel decided to not push her since she would open her mouth to speak if she had a reason. Sebastian, on the other hand, would try to do light talking. Such as, 'how is the tea?', and the responses are 'good, excellent, and a bit more sugar please'.

The lights dimmed as everyone's voices went to hush whispers. From the center stage came out a man that (y/n) could tell from his life force, he was missing a hand. He had color paint on his face and an interesting costume as he stepped towards the center light.

"Ladies and gents! Welcome to the Noah's Ark Circus!"

Behind the colorful gentleman, a litter of people just as unfamiliar and unique like him came pouring out. The announcer explained the acts and how the night would go. From out in the crowd, the announcer would locked eyes with (y/n) on the occasion. The smile he wore was cheerful and radiant, so full of life from one whose arm was robbed from him.

(y/n) watched in silence and awe at the acts being performed by the circus. She heard about them while up in Heaven, but they said mortals could only do so much with the limitations upon their bodies. This was... something else unusual entirely. Humans have advanced faster than she thought, for them to be eating fire, bending their bodies without breaking any bones, it was incredible.

"Their act seems rather normal for a traveling circus," Ciel commented.

"Indeed," Sebastian said, "but there is a charm about them that stimulates the audience. And there seem to be no children being forced to act that I can see."

(y/n) opened her mouth, her voice cracked from not talking and quickly tried to lower it before the audience could hear. "Yes, but even so, it can't be a random miracle that everywhere the circus goes children go missing. There must be a base or some area they keep for the children to stay at, otherwise, someone would notice a lost child if one escape."

It was true, (y/n)'s was on point. Someone at any moment would have to notice a child walking around in one of the tents. Everyone in the group grew silent as the next act came on. A woman named Beast and her darling tiger was up on the stage.

"Now, this act requires audience performance! Are there any volunteers?"

"Who out of their mind would try and tame a tiger," Ciel commented.

It was at that moment, (y/n) noticed the missing presence of Sebastian's hand. It caught her off guard that she was used to the sensation of his hand in hers, but that feeling was quickly thrown away as Sebastian gently touched the tiger.

"Ah, those eyes and paws, you simply radiate fine beauty." He said, gushing over the tiger as he squished its paws. "So round and plump, you are well fed."

At that moment both (y/n) and Ciel realized the same thought in their head. 'Tiger's are bloody cats!'

"That idiot!" (y/n), raising her voice a bit too high for the audience around her to hear.

The circus troop didn't understand how to act either as they stood there dumbfounded. As Sebastian continued gushing over the big cat, it put its mouth into Sebastian's head. The audience began to scream bloody murder as Beast raised her whip.

"Release him, Betty!"

Sebastian stopped the whip from coming into contact with the tiger, clearly annoyed that the owner would dare to strike a beautiful creature such as the tiger. "She as done nothing wrong, but striking at this lovely creature only proves your poor skills as a trainer."

Beast's cheeks grew pink from embarrassment, "Shut it!" And continued to help Sebastian as Betty bit onto his head once again.

'I can't believe what is happening right now.' (y/n) thought to herself.

After the act, they headed out of the tent, where Sebastian continued to hold his hand in (y/n)'s hand. "I am sorry, my lord. Cats are such fickle creatures! I simply adore that about them." He was simply growing from radiance that a cat touched him.

Ciel sneezed, clearly annoyed that Sebastian touched a feline. "Damn you! You know I am allergic to cats. Stay away from me."

As Ciel began to walk away, the colorful gentleman from before approached them. "Sorry about before! I was wondering if you could come to our medic tent to see to your wounds!"

Knowing it was suspicious if they didn't, (y/n) answered for him. "Of course. My dear butler is too reckless at times, forgive me for his behavior."

Joker turned and faced his attention towards her. "Hello, miss! I saw you from the crowd, and I was wondering if you two were engaged."

(y/n) blushed, only a tiny bit too seem believable. "Oh, not at all. My husband died not too long ago, and I need some physic contact to help ease the loneliness in my heart."

"Oh, I apologize for my rudeness." He bowed quickly and lifted his head. "The name' Joker, come with me."

They both followed him towards the tent, and (y/n) sat in the back on a single wooden stool. Joker brought her some warm tea and a scarf. "I apologize we don't have anything too fancy for ya, but I hope this makes up for it."

(y/n) was taken aback from the sudden kindness. She cracked a tiny smile at him and took the offered items. She held eye contact with him as the warmth and kindness stirred an unknown emotion inside her heart. "Thank you, it is quite enough."

She waited in the back as Joker took Sebastian to the doctor. The look on their faces as Joker explained he was bitten by the tiger was... funny. Watching the scene fold out poked a smile on her face. After a few conversations were passed along, Sebastian suggested a crazy idea.

"How does one join the circus?"

Joker's face lit in surprise. "From an audition of course, but don't you have your mistress to take care of?"

"I don't mind." (y/n) quickly added in, she was panicking, knowing what Sebastian was trying to do but didn't know how to help the situation with their story. "I will have to ease the grief on my own. He always followed me by his own will, but I want him to follow his dreams."

Sebastian walked over and keeled on one knee, "Are you sure it is okay? For me to live out my dreams?"

She nodded and flashed a polite smile. "Yes, you deserve more than I can give you."

Joker wiped a tear from his eye. "Oi, that is the most beautiful scene I have ever seen! It's enough to move even me!"

Sebastian stood up and flipped out his watch, checking to see if their plan was going right on time. "I am afraid we must be going, but I will show up for the audition on a coming day."

"It'll swell to meet ya! And make sure to stop by and watch for a visit, miss." He flashed her a wink and a smile.

"I-I will." (y/n) responded, clearly shy at the sudden flirting.

While exiting the tent, (y/n) caught a look at Beast, who was not too happy at the flirt comment Joker made. Once they made some distance, Sebastian's grip on her hand tightened.

"I don't want you to be near that Joker fellow." He said, a certain harsh but light tone in his voice.

(y/n) sighed, for she didn't care if Joker was falling for her. "You don't have to worry about me. I'm too wrapped up inside my head to even care for the blooks flirting."

"Even still," Sebastian edged on and stopped them a few inches from the carriage. "You shouldn't be around any male on this mission. If one of them takes a liking towards you, it will be harder for us to move around without them noticing anything on our tail."

(y/n) opened the carriage door herself, refusing Sebastian's hand to help her up. Even in anger, she still refused to make eye contact with him. "Think about what you want, but I'm not here to flirt or think about wanting other men. I'm tired of males and don't want anything to do with them. And I won't be a compromise to the mission. I owe my life to the lord, I would do nothing to hurt or tame his honor for my romance life as a woman."

Once she entered the carriage and sat, Sebastian, whipped around, his tailcoat flying behind him. "If you are sure on that promise, don't ever make eye contact with that prosthetic man ever again."

Once he shut the door, Ciel sighed. "Good grief. Might as well get a move on while he scouts the area for us."

"Agreed."
