Wouldn't it be lovely?

Wouldn't it be lovely to touch a cloud?

Wouldn't it be lovely to swim without fear of drowning?

Wouldn't it?

That is what we think, at least, to some degree. The questions, the wonderings. Our curiosity makes us human, and, in that sense, greedy.

Now, if we did not have cars, would we miss them? The answer is yes, though not the way you might think.

We would long for, we would miss, something to carry us along instead of walking.

In the same way, we long for, in such a way that it can only be described as miss, the things we cannot have or touch or see.

The unknown.

The wonders of the universe.

It makes us human, these desires.

Greedy.

Utterly and wonderfully flawed.

For if we did ot have these longings, how could we have advanced so far?

If we could fly, if we had gills or what have you, if we had everything we desired, would it really bring satisfaction?

Would it calm the intense curiosity that burns in the soul of every human?

No.

We reach, stretching our puny selves into the darkness in the vague hope of quelling, of fulfilling, that want.

The want for another.

The want for something new.

The want that causes our every move to be dictated...

...

Now wouldn't it be lovely to touch a cloud?

Wouldn't it be lovely to escape from the harshness of reality?

Wouldn't it be lovely to know the question that races through our bloodstreams?

Wouldn't it just?
