Plot Summary: Ran was just minding her own business until she found herself tangled by a cat and a certain silver haired. A side story for Comforting Hand.

A deep breath of exhaustion pours out of Afterglow's vocals, Ran Mitake's mouth. Having to help with everyone in her class to prepare for the upcoming school festival.

"That's everything." Ran announce as she place the last shopping bag on the counter.

"Thanks Mitake-san." Her classmate said. "You can take a few minutes break."

Nodding silently, Ran simply took a small bottle water to refresh herself. Seeing as everything was going well, she went out of her way straight outside the courtyard.

Total silent free. Everyone were too occupied back at the building that even she couldn't find Moca nor the others. It was both a good and bad thing somewhat. The usual bombardment of enthusiasm that she can always find, kept her company throughout those years, enjoying all those good and bad moments she had with the band.

Contrasting to it were the times that she could think of making lyrics for their next song. Speaking of music, they were supposed to have a live at the last day of the festival. Hopefully it'll be the same as usual tune only they can make.

Stopping on her tracks, she saw a grey cat loitering, looking at her with those wide blue eyes, searching for whatever it probably needs.

Meow. The cat walk towards her, rubbing its furry head onto her ankle, purring while circling around her.

Kneeling down, Ran pat the cat's head before rubbing it softly to feel its touch. Smiling at the interaction they both share, Ran enjoyed the sudden company it gave.

Carrying it slowly to her arms while using her free hand to direct the rubbing to its neck, the cat simply meow in gratefulness. Content, Ran then sat at the nearby bench, not minding the time left as she enjoy the small moment with a cat.

"Mitake-san." Abruptly, a familiar voice takes her attention in surprise. With her mind wandering with the soft touch the cat gave, she didn't even notice someone had walk into her.

Turning her head around to the source, she saw, none other than her silver haired senior, rival and vocalist of Roselia, Yukina Minato.

"Minato-san." Ran greeted back. "What bring you here?"

But before Yukina could answer, both of them were focused to a certain someone. Meow. Yukina's ears perk and her eyes widen with glee to find the grey cat onto Ran's hand.

"Excuse me." Yukina said as she scoot over to Ran and stare at the cat intensely.

Eyes raising in confusion, Ran waited to see how the course of action would take. Commonly, Yukina rub its head straight down to its small figure, enjoying the soothing touch. Once more, the cat purred in happiness.

"You like cats?" Ran straightforwardly ask.

Somewhat, that had snap her back to reality. Retracting her hand and give a hefty cough to adjust her composure back originally.

"Like doesn't comprehend how I feel about them." Yukina said.

"A cat lover, huh?" Ran reply. "Never thought of you to be one."

"We all have our own secrecy." Yukina said. "It's just a matter of time before anyone finds out."

Nodding slowly in agreement, Ran simply watch Yukina do her thing. Surely trying to endure the temptation, Yukina still gave glances to the cat. And those times, Ran could see the small smile forming on her face that it felt different than most expression she saw when on band. Like it wasn't those smiles you commonly see nowadays at their age like for example, Moca's grin-shitting smile that makes people join in for the trickery of fun or maybe Tsugumi's caring smile that shows how much support or care she wants to give.

No, it was more of a child like smile, bringing in memories of moments that they enjoy. Moments that molds them to who they are. Like the day Afterglow was born. She could never forget those time how they started.

Meow. Calling out to her thoughts, the current situation was a bit embarrassing as it sound. As she had thought, Yukina couldn't control her urges, that now she finds herself too close to Ran, entrapping her space as she fondle the grey cat on the raven haired's laps.

A light red crept onto Ran's face, seeing Yukina's face a bit closer to hers. Even though she knew it was unconsciously done, it somewhat felt like an invitation of some sort. Shaking the idea off, these was seriously not something to be thinking about. What would the others think if they found her thinking something like that!

Surely, Moca would go do what she do best. Teasing. Like supporting them together or whatever idea she could come up to embarrass her. Just thinking about it further is making her head go dizzy.

"M-minato-san..." Ran finally called out, having her breath taken away from her just a few second.

Reluctantly, Yukina fix the strand of her hair and place it behind her ear before looking at Ran's gaze. "Hmm? Is something the matter, Mitake-san? Your a bit feverish."

"Your a bit too close." Ran said.

Noted, Yukina arch her back to her former condition, giving Ran the space to breath in. "Sorry."

"It's fine." Ran assured.

And as if the cat was finally happy with the attention they both gave, it suddenly jump down to the ground. Now walking away slowly while continuing to meow. Yukina almost felt like reaching out her hand to the cat but was suddenly restricted by the truth of it it. She wouldn't be able to take care for them sadly.

Sighing to see the outcome, Ran said. "We'll get to see them some other time."

Even though the reply she got was a hesitated answer that ends up with a silent treatment, it was sort of understandable having to contemplate about one's secret to be find out. Especially when she was merely more of an acquaintance than a friend to Yukina.

Looking at her phone, it was time to head back. She didn't want the others looking for her just to tell her she was late or anything. Standing up slowly as she tuck in he phone, Ran said. "I need to head back. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone what I saw."

Waving goodbye, Ran trudges back to the building. But before she could leave, Yukina called out to her. "Mitake-san."

"Hm?" Turning her head around, she saw the smile of someone who was thankful and genuine yet with the hint of rivalry and seriousness.

"I heard that you have a live at the last day of the festival." Yukina said as she was already close to Ran once more. "I expect to see better results."

Ran couldn't help but think it was because of a single cat that made them a bit closer. Nodding slowly and with an amuse smile, she answer. "It'll be the same as always."
