Merry Christmas everyone! This is my Christmas special for the year of 2017 and I hope you like it. I'm sorry this wasn't on Christmas, the internet was down and I didn't get inspired until Christmas Eve. - This is a Percy Jackson/Grinch crossover.

Enjoy.

Percy sighed as he dropped down to the couch in his mom's place. It had been only four or five months since the Giant War and Percy had yet to feel anything close to back to normal. He and Annabeth still had that cough they gained from Tartarus. Will Solace had said that they might not ever be rid of it. Which was just great, you know. Why wouldn't you want that painful reminder of the most terrifying weeks of your life? Percy found it hard to see anything positive in his life-except for Annabeth of course and his mom.

Lately everyone has been doing their own thing. Jason and Piper were traveling between camps, building those temples and shrines the son of Jupiter had promised. Frank and Hazel were at Camp Jupiter with Reyna, things back to normal for them. Leo was still missing, though Percy had a feeling he would not be gone for long. Nico was hanging out at Camp Half-Blood and spending a lot of time in the infirmary. The son of Hades was getting hurt a lot more often than usual and Percy wondered what was up with that. Percy and Annabeth were pursuing the idea Percy had to go to college in New Rome. Now all they needed to do was get Percy into the same college as Annabeth. Easy peasy.

Right now though, everyone was gathering at Sally's and Paul's house for the holidays. They'd rented a large enough mansion to house as many demigods as they came. The location protected by barriers provided by Zeus. (It was the least he could do) It seemed like the entirety of both camps came. Even Thalia and Clarrise were there.

"That's a happy sound," Sally said, dropping carefully next to her son. She had been expecting a baby for quite some time now and it was starting to slow her movement. "What's wrong?"

Percy didn't answer right away, going o ver his next words carefully and staring incomprehensibly at the movie playing in front of him. The words of the narrator talking about a snowflake and Who-ville running softly in the back of his mind. How the Grinch Stole Christmas had always been one of Percy's favorites but right now, Percy just wasn't feeling in a Christmas mood. Kind of like how Cindy Lou Who felt.

"I don't know, Mom," Percy finally said, "Ever since...you know..."

"Oh, honey," Sally pulled her son's head into her lap, "how much sleep have you gotten these past few nights?" Percy didn't say anything, which was all the answer she needed. She started stroking his head, softly running her hands through his raven black hair. The soft, slow movement was slowly lulling Percy off to sleep.

"Merry Christmas, Sally," a voice came from the right, "how's Percy?"

Sally looked up from her son's face and smiled sadly. "Hello, Annabeth," she looked back down, "not very well, what about you? Are you sleeping?"

Annabeth smiled wryly. "Sally I know you know the answer to that," she said.

Sally worried her lip between her teeth. "You two slept better together right? No night terrors?" She asked uncertainly.

Warily, Annabeth nodded. What was going through that mother's mind?

Sally bit her lip one more time before she finally said, "You are staying here tonight and however long you two need to get over what ever happened to you two in that place," she paused, "I'll get a bigger bed brought to his room so you can sleep with him."

"But Sally-"

"No buts," Sally interrupted, pulling the daughter of Athena to take her place as Percy's pillow. "You two need to heal and this is the only way to do that right now."

Stunned, Annabeth stared at Sally's retreating figure then at the son of Poseidon in her lap. Shrugging as she realized she wouldn't be changing the pregnant lady's mind anytime soon. She relaxed in her seat and ran her fingers through her boyfriend's hair.

Percy woke with a start. "Annabeth?" The last thing he remembered was Annabeth's voice saying something he couldn't make out because he was falling asleep. That and the Grinch playing right across from him as his mother played with his hair. 17 years old and that was still his favorite feeling in the world.

Percy looked around, taking in the weirdly shaped buildings and mouse like people rushing by carrying packages wrapped in bright colored paper. Then he did a double take.

What?

How in all the spirit of Christmas did he end up in Who-ville?

A small piece of paper floated down in front of his face. On instinct, Percy's hand snatched out to catch it.

    Dear Percy Jackson,
We have noticed you are not in the Christmas spirit and while we understand, you need to find your old self. Therefore, we have mentally sent you into your favorite Christmas movie. No one can see or hear you, no one can touch you but you can touch them if you want so be careful. You are to stay here until you are your old self again. Try not to change the movie too much.
            Good luck!
                    -The Fates

"Oh, minotaur dung," Percy mumbled as he read the short note in Ancient Greek. "Which part am I at?"  He looked up and around to see a brown hooded figure walk by with a saw behind his back.

"Schist," he said as he saw the Grinch hand it off to a couple of kids. "I'm at the beginning!"

A few hours later, Percy was still banging his head on a twisted pillar when the Grinch walked by, Max not too far behind.

"Let's go home," the hooded figure said to the dog and Percy hurried to follow him into the dump. The ride was actually not as bad as he thought and despite the rotten smell, he had fun.

Percy came tumbling out of the chute with a few toxic waste bags and missed the Grinch by only a foot.

"Agh!" The Grinch said as he caught one of the bags. "What is that stench?"

Percy looked down at himself. "Do I honestly smell that bad?"

"It's fantastic!" The Grinch finished as he took a closer look at he red bag.

"Oh, that's right," Percy nodded to himself. "Not only is he not a monster, but he can't see me. Seaweed brain..." Percy muttered to himself as he followed the Grinch to his lair.

The Grinch's lari was almost exactly how he imagined it and Percy had a lot of fun going around the cave and exploring until he got bored. Unfortunately, he got bored rather quickly. He groaned as he floated down to the level the Grinch was on. Something he learned he could do when he tried one of the Grinch's inventions. Percy was starting to wish he had stayed behind in Who-ville with Cindy Lou.

Somehow they ended up just outside the cave, staring down at the Whos.

"Man, I forgot you were immune to cold weather," Percy said as he hopped from foot to foot in the snow.

"Alphabetically; Aadvarkian Abakenezer Who, I hate yooooouuu! Aaron B. Benson Who, I hate you. Hate, hate, hate. Hate, hate, hate. Double hate," he paused as his finger came to a name in the phone book. "LOATHE ENTIRELY!" He said in a deep voice.

"Oh, who is it?" Percy said, coming to peek over his green friend's shoulder. "Is it the Mayor? If so, then I feel you man. That guy needs to get his head out of his-"

"Nutcrackers!" The Grinch cursed. "It's their Whobilation. Tomorrow is Christmas!" He gasped. "It's practically here!" He threw the phone book into the air. "Max! Fetch me my sedative!"

Percy followed the Grinch casually at first back into the cave then his eyes widened as he remembered what the Grinch's 'sedative' was. "No, dude, brain damage!" Percy called as he started running but stopped as a thud came from the distance. Percy shrugged. "Oh, well. I guess this explains the mild insanity, right?"

A couple hours later, the Grinch woke up singing along to one of the Chirstmas songs coming up from the town.

"No!" The Grinch yelled, sitting up straight in bed, making Percy fall off the seat he had himself on in surprise. "Blast this Christmas music!" He said as he got a pillow and put it over his head, covering his ears. "It's joyful and triumphant."

"You know, I think you just summed up everyone's attitude about Chrismas music for everyday of the year expect for the days leading up to Christmas itself," Percy said dryly, watching the Grinch go around making lots of noise to drown it out.

He watched the Grinch spot his symbol crashing monkey and suddenly Percy realized which part of the movie they were at.

"Cindy!" Percy exclaimed. "Finally, come to save me from the boredom that is the Grinch's cave!"

Suddenly the Grinch stopped. "Why do I feel like someone just insulted me?" He asked no one. Then he shrugged. "Oh, well, back to drowning out that trashy music!"

Percy rolled his eyes and smiled at Cindy Lou as she walked by even though she couldn't see him.

"Mr. Grinch?" Cindy Lou tapped his back. "Mr. Grinch?"

Suddenly, the symbols stopped crashing over the Grinch's head and he turned to face the smaller girl that snuck into his lair.

"Aand let the series of weird faces trying to scare her begin," Percy said, looking over at Max, who had started to sniff him. "They're going to be at this for a while. wanna help me make some cookies? You know, since the fates let you see me now." Percy led Max to the kitchen area where, fortunately, the Grinch had edible baking supplies in his cupboards. "Now where did you put the food dye?"

A few minutes later, the Grinch's voice came through the halls, "Who knows? Maybe this whole Whobilation will change my entire outlook on life!"

"Really?" Cindy's voice came.

Percy grinned as eh mixed the batter and mouthed the word along with the Grinch, "No."

Next thing he knew, Cindy's screams turned to laughter came through the chute and the Grinch was calling for his dog. "Max!"

Percy shared a look with the patient dog on the floor and jerked his head in the Grinch's direction. Max then barked loudly to let him know where he was.

"Max what are you doing in here?" The Grinch asked. "What is this place/"

"The kitchen," Percy muttered. "Surely you've seen one, living with those Whos in your earlier years."

"Who are you?" The Grinch asked. "How did you get in here? Max! We need to up out security. Too many intruders getting in here."

"You can see me? And hear me?" Percy stopped stirring briefly to get over this fact.

"Well, yeah, I mean you're right...there," the Grinch used both his hands to point in Percy's direction

"So I am," Percy looked down at himself to see some of the dyed batter on his pants, seeing there wasn't an apron anywhere.

"Who are you?" The Grinch repeated.

"Sorry, Percy Jackson, at your service," Percy bowed, careful not to spill the cookie batter. Then he started scooping some of the dough up and rolling it up into a ball. He plopped the first ball down on the cookie sheet just as the Grinch asked another question.

"What are you doing here?"

"Making cookies," Percy smiled at the face the Grinch gave at that. "You'll love these, I promise. My mom's recipe. Here-" he grunted as he put the tray into the old oven behind him and closed the door, "-we can talk while they cook."

The Grinch shrugged and dropped the invitation down on the dough covered counter and leaned back on it. "The nerve of those Whos. Inviting me down there. On such short notice!" He started.

"I know," Percy agreed with a smile. "It's not like you have a five minute shortcut to the center of town or anything."

The Grinch narrowed his eyes. "Was that sarcasm?" Percy smirked in reply. The Grinch turned to Max. "I like this guy."

"Even if I wanted to go, my schedule wouldn't allow it!" The Grinch continued.

"Right, you've got that, um-what was it," Percy snapped his fingers, trying to remember, "wallowing in self-pity thing at 4. Staring into the pit of darkness at 4:30-"

"The abyss, stare into the abyss," the Grinch corrected. "Then it's solve world hunger but tell no one, Jazzercise. 6:30, dinner with me-"

"You can't cancel that again," Percy told him, rolling his eyes at Max.

"7, wrestle with my self loathing," the Grinch threw up his hands.

"You're booked!" Percy said for him then laughed. "Man you need to get a life! Or even just a friend."

"What about you, Mr. Show-up-out-of-nowhere-making-cookies!" The Grinch asked.

"I have friends!" Percy protected. "I have a girlfriend too!" Percy calmed, looking sadly at the table.
"It's just- I mean-" he sighed. "I think the fates brought me here to heal a little."

"From what?" The Grinch asked. "How could I help you heal?"

"My girlfriend and I," Percy sighed, "we went through some hard times, along with a couple of other friends. "Falling into the pit of monsters and all. My mom doesn't even know half of it."

"What about-" the Grinch started.

"My dad?"" Percy laughed. "He was the cause of half of all those problems. The thing is, it's Christmas where I live too and I just haven't' felt any inclination towards celebrating when a bunch of my family died because we were trying to put a great grandmother back to sleep."

"And I thought I was mad," the Grinch said to Max.

"Nawh, it's just your coping method and way to hide your true emotions," Percy waved a hand. "I had-have a friend who does the same thing."

"Oh, really?"

"Yep, except he uses jokes and laughs," Percy smiled at the ceiling. "I miss him."

"Where is he?" The Grinch asked.

"Oh, I have my suspicions," Percy laughed, "but I don't want to say them in case it's not true. Now, are you going or aren't you?" He asked the question just as the timer beeped for the cookies.

Percy went to pull them out as the Grinch hummed. "Oh, but what would I wear?" He finally said.

The son of Poseidon laughed and winked at Max. "You'll find something-hey! Stop!" Percy batted the Grinch's hands away from the cookies. "They need to cool or else they'll fall apart!"

One yodeler later, the Grinch showed off his new outfit for Percy.

"So are you going?" Percy asked.

"I don't know, Perce, what if it's some cruel prank?" The Grinch worried.

"Then how dare they," Percy answered. "Are you going?"

"Alright, I'll go," the Grinch sighed.

"Good, because I think I'm about to wake up," Percy said. "See you on the screen, lover boy!"

"Wait, what's that suppose to mean?" The Grinch demanded as Percy's vision went blurry.

"Enjoy the cookies!"

🎄            🎄            🎄            🎄

Percy opened his eyes and took a big intake of breath, momentarily discombobulated at his new surroundings.

"Percy?"

He took in a deep breath, smelling cookies and...lemons. "Annabeth," Percy smiled up at his girlfriend.

"Percy are you alright?" Annabeth's beautiful face finally registered in Percy's tired mind and he smiled even more.

"Never better," he said, bringing her down for a long awaited kiss.
