Fun-Fun Quote from Yugi Mutou!

Yugi: Hmmm...What was the term that Joey would always use? Kick butt until the fall? No, wait. I think it has something to do with "I'm bad, you know it. I'm bad, I'll show it."?

Joey: Oh yeah, my boy is growing up so fast. *tears of joy*

Now, let's get back to the story!

M

"Uh....Yami?"

"What?"

"Ya do realize that the back entrance is locked right?"

"Give me a minute."

Yami kneels down to get a better view of the keyhole inside the twist door knob. Analyzing its structure, Yami gave a satisfying sound before taking out a bobby pin from his pocket.

"Since when do ya carry hairpins?"

"Since the day you lock me out of my own dorm room."

"Oh.....still don't like that huh?"

"Shut up."

Hearing that Joey's comments are making Yami irritated, he smartly zip is mouth from further interruption. After a minute or two, Yami gave a successful sigh when he was able to pick the lock and open the door.

"Nice!"

"Alright, remember to follow me and don't let the culprit see both of us okay? Until we find a way to free the other civilians, we need to stay quiet."

"I got ya back Yami."

Joey gave a thumb up before both of them silently enters and find themselves in the kitchen. No one was around so Yami suspected that they were forced to go up front so that the murderer can keep an eye on them and the others.

'Yugi.'

A wave nausea and fear struck him in the stomach when he saw Yugi sitting across from where the culprit is at the seating booth.

"What the-Yam' what is Yugi-sensei doing!?" Joey hissed quietly. Yami hushes him to shut up before both of them quietly stayed silent. Yami may not know what is going on here, but based on how Yugi is converging himself-casually relax with a charming smile-he would have to say that he is directing the culprit's attention to himself. Though the culprit may be suspicious, it gave Yami the opening to signal Yugi where they are.

Back with Yugi, he immediately spotted them behind the kitchen door-since it's literally right in front of him-and faintly nodded at them.

"I'll ask you one more time. Why are you sitting here, shrimp?"

"Oh? I thought that you might need a game partner. That's all."

"Game? I don't need to play anything you f*cking brat! Get back down there with the rest of the lot!"

"Now now. There's no need to shout. I'm here to give you some sort of entertainment. Here."

Yugi places his hand on the table, before clenching it in a fist. Then, he turns it around and reveals a pack of cards when he opens his hand.

"Tsk. So you know magic tricks huh?"

The culprit pause for a moment. He remembers how he took his family to an amusement park where there was a live stage performance for talented magicians to show their skills and talents.

"Not just any magic tricks. It's a game where the cards tell about your past and your future."

"I don't get it. Are you a magician or some fortune-teller?"

Yugi silent gave him a wink but directed to Yami to stay a little longer.

"You could say that I am a magician who knows the outcome of this game. If you would like to play that is."

Yugi's words began to sound softer, much lighter than before. The culprit and the hostage couldn't help but stay silent as Yugi began shuffling the cards and spreading them in rows across the table.

"Here is how we are going to play. Each card holds specific numbers and suits, correct? Both of us will randomly pick cards from all of these rows that are spread all over the table. From there we hold up the card that we pick before showing them to each other. Based on the number of the card we had chosen; if the number is higher than the other than the one that holds the lowest number of the card will have to do what the other person say."

"Are you bullsh*ting me?"

"Not at all. I simply want to play with you. You know, since I heard that you're quite good at playing cards."

"Oh? How do you know?"

"Simple really. The way your eyes diligently count the cards that I had previously shuffled up gave me a hint that you are quite familiar with playing cards. Another would be that the way you hold cards-like this one for instance-keeps leaving the same dent mark on the left side of your middle finger while using your forefinger to secure it."

"H-How do you-?"

"There's no need to be surprised. I've seen a lot of professional making those same kinds of habits."

"Aren't you only a brat?"

"Anyway," Yugi decided to stop spilling out too much of his information as he encourages the culprit to play along.

Yugi smiled sweetly, compelling the culprit to play. The culprit took in the innocent look before he nodded without a second thought.

"Good. Now then. Ready?"

Yugi looks at the cards in front of him before picking one up from the far right. The culprit, making sure that the hostage wouldn't think of trying anything funny, took out a piece of cloth from his back pocket before roughly tying it around the girl's eyes. She whimpered when she lost her sight. Everyone in the background did not dare look at what was happening. They stayed silent and elude away from the danger. Sometimes they would hold their breath for every sound that they heard.

When the culprit holds out his picked card it reveals that he has the highest number than Yugi's.

"Ha! Who would have thought that you would lose on the first try? Guess you underestimated your luck to early. Since you lost, I want you to go fetch me a drink."

"As you wish."

Yugi got up from his seat and started walking up to the kitchen. When he opened the door and quickly closed it he was immediately embraced by Yami.

"Yugi, are you alright? Did he hurt you?"

"No. Luckily he didn't. But I can't stay here very long before he gets suspicious."

"What are you trying to do there teach?"

"I'm getting to that. Now, I know that the situation may be risky but we have to act as soon as possible to get the civilians to safety."

"But how!? That guy has a freakin' gun!"

"I know that, which is exactly why I need you two to listen to me. Now, here's the plan."

While Yugi was away, the culprit decided to take this moment to look at the hidden cards. He smirked to himself at Yugi's defeat as he memorized all of the card's numbers and place before quickly turning them to their rightful positions earlier when he heard Yugi's footstep.

"So sorry for taking too long. I hope that I haven't made you impatient. Here's the drink that you want."

Yugi placed them on the edge of the table. The culprit was delighted to find that the drink that he wanted was 90% alcoholic.

"After you lose the next round I want you to pour me some of this stuff."

"If I lose, of course."

They proceeded throughout the game. For each round, Yugi didn't have a choice but to listen to the culprit's demands such as pouring him a glass of the alcoholic drink, telling him to get cigarettes, a lighter, and even stripping off his accessories one by one. At this point, the culprit was gleefully enjoying himself while losing his train of thoughts on what his purpose was supposed to be in the first place.

"Are you enjoying yourself?"

"Very. Looks like the game has finally chosen its winner."

"Don't count on it."

At this point, Yugi has finally got all of the pieces in place. His next course of action is to take back the hostage that the culprit is still currently holding. Yugi picked up the card from the far right. The culprit recognized it as the Joker, so he chooses the one that contains the Ace.

"Before we show each other's our cards, how about we try this. Instead of look at our cards, we place them face down in front of us. At the count of three, we flip our cards as the final."

"Sure. It doesn't really matter anyway. Because I am going to win this game."

Yugi smile before counting.

"One....two....three!"

Both of them flip at the same time and what the culprit expected became the unexpected.

"What!?"

In front of him lay the Joker, whereas Yugi's hold the Ace in his hand.

"It seems that I win this round. Maybe my luck is finally changing."

"Yes. Maybe it is, but you're still losing now matter what."

The culprit scrunches his eyes in confusion. He was sure that the card that Yugi is holding was the Joker. But then, how did he end up holding Joker instead of the Ace? It doesn't make sense at all!

"Since I won this round, that means that you will listen and do what I say. Release the hostage."

"Never!"

The culprit grabs his gun and points to at Yugi while wrapping his arm around the girl's shoulder. The girl holds herself stiffly from the sudden touch. Yugi's face became expressionless as the culprit smirk.

"If this was your plan in the very beginning then you are clearly naive. No one would follow those goody-toe shoe rules like you expect them to do, you stupid brat!"

"I have listened to your orders already. Now it's time for you to listen to mine."

"Bullsh*t!", the culprit unlocks the safety before threatening Yugi again with a warning.

"You'll regret it Murderer-san. The game that we just played is no order game. It's a game that tests the goodness of your heart."

"What the hell are you spouting out now b-"

He wasn't able to finish his sentence when he noticed how cold and dark Yugi's eyes became. Their surrounding became cold for some unknown reason as the culprit found himself standing alone in a dark room.

"What the-what's happening!?"

"We are inside the darkness of your heart. It reveals your darkest desires, memories, and your true feelings. Right now you are currently in rage towards yourself and at others. These feelings have ultimately changed you. You have lost the goodness of your heart and now become someone who would hurt others for your revenge."

"Shut up! Stop it!"

"You put this on yourself. You played my game and choose to cheat your ways towards your own demise. You will be punished!"

Black swirls that began forming like a monster's claw wrapped itself around him and holding him in place as he tries to pull himself out from its grip.

"What the hell is this thing!?"

"A monster that you raised within your heart. Now, your punishment is to be eaten by the monster that you have created. But don't worry, you'll see daylight again. If you survive its clutches."

Yugi knew when he is dismissed, so he uses his magic to bring himself back to the surface of the outside world. From there, he saw to it that the hostage is carefully taken away to safety while the officers took the drunkard man away. He kept mumbling to himself about "monsters" and "help" throughout the entire ordeal, which made the officers and the Inspector concern. If he was asked what happen, he'll just have to explain that the culprit got himself drunk with the drink that he requested from "a gutless kid".

"Yugi!"

Yugi turns around and saw Yami and Joey heading towards him.

"Yami! Joey!"

Yami sigh in relief. Thankful that everyone, especially Yugi, are all safe.

"Yug-sensei! That was awesome just now! Your plan worked!"

"Yes. It was brilliant indeed."

Yugi laughs at their praising words.

"It's nothing really. I'm just glad that everyone is alright. I'm glad that both of you were able to secure the civilians away to safety while I was distracting the culprit".

Flashback:

"Here's the plan. The cards that I choose will represent the table's number from where the culprit won't be able to see you. That way you'll be able to safely secure the civilians and get them out of here."

"Okay. But how are you going to be able to get the right card? We heard you explaining the rules and that the chances of you getting the card that you want out of all of them would be almost impossible."

"Don't worry about that. Those cards are the ones that I made myself. Anyway, while securing the civilians I'll try to converge with the culprit to get some hints on where he might have hidden the bomb."

"And how exactly are you going to do that?", Joey hesitantly asked. Yugi simply gave him a grin before walking up to one of the high counters. He uses the nearest stool chair that was behind him, climbs up, and grabbed what he was looking for. Showing the 90% alcoholic drink to the boys, they immediately understand.

"Don't worry Joey, he won't know what'll hit him."

Flashback Ended:

Truthfully, he added a bit magic in the bottle to make sure that the culprit gets easily drunk in the end. While the man was half unconscious, Yugi was able to successfully obtain where the bomb was, which was located at the number 13 carriage of the biggest Ferris wheel of the amusement park. After that, he took the hostage away from him and let the rest of the dirty work be to clean up by the police. Yugi has to admit, but today he wistfully wishes to get back home and regain his strength by having a dreamless sleep. Although he may have been able to successfully regain his powers back, he still wasted a lot of his good energy away.

"I'm going to the restroom alright? Meet you two at the exit gate okay?"

"Alright!"

When Yugi is out of sight, Joey gave Yami the "look". He immediately stops when Yami glare at him that screams out, "Don't you dare say a word or else".

It didn't take Yugi a long time to locate where the men's restroom is. He just finished washing his hands and was about to go out and find the boys before he felt beefy hands grabbing him by the arm and covering his mouth and nose with a white cloth. Yugi screamed in shock but was muffled because of the cursive cloth. Yugi struggled to free himself from the clutches of the mysterious man but was still too weak. Actually, Yugi notices that his struggles are becoming weaker, including his vision.

Before he fell into a deep sleep, he heard his capture whisper, "Rest assured. You won't escape from us again, little Yugi."

That was the last thing he heard before plunging into darkness.

"Ya.....mi."
