Chapter 31

~Nolan~

"You've been in a cheerful mood," Jerome suddenly said. I looked over my shoulder to see him sitting up on the bed having just woken up. "You're even out of bed before me on a Saturday, which is definitely saying something."

I lifted up the red garland from the cardboard box in front of me. "It's December first, so it's now socially acceptable for me to take out the Christmas decorations. My family would think I'm weird if I did it any earlier."

Jerome pushed the blanket aside before he got out of bed. He crouched down beside me, looking at all the decorations in the box. "Ah, right. I remember last year when you tried getting your decorations out early and your dad had to fight the box away from you."

I scowled. "That was mean of him. I just wanted to make my bedroom look all pretty and festive, but no, it was too early."

"Nolan, in his defence, that was literally the day after Halloween," Jerome said. "Not even the day after Halloween. I'm pretty sure you tried getting the decorations Halloween night."

"In his defence?" I asked. "What about my defence? My defence of loving Christmas?"

"Your defence of loving Christmas so much that you wanted to start decorating on another holiday? The spooky holiday?"

I took a string of lights out of the box, looking around the room to try to find a place to hang the lights. "Christmas is more of a state of mind."

"Nolan, Christmas is a holiday, not a state of mind."

"I beg to differ." The wall where the desks stood against seemed like the best choice to hang the strings of lights on, so I stood up and started dragging the lights over there. Unfortunately, I didn't do the best job at putting them away last year because they were a bit tangled.

Jerome helped me untangle them before he helped me hang them up on the wall. It was the first decoration we put up in the place, but seeing it hanging up on the wall shining colourfully was enough to make me feel really happy and festive.

Christmas really was my favourite holiday. There was just something about it that put me in a good mood, which was saying something since my mental health would make it hard for me to stay in a good mood for a long time.

There was one thing that really put me in a good mood, however. I looked over at Jerome, who was digging through the decoration box to see what else I had in there. "Wanna have sex?" I asked.

Jerome looked at me. "You know I would love to, but I'm certain your family is still home."

I sighed. "They need to get out of the house more."

"I know, right?" Jerome asked. "How dare they stay in their own home all day, preventing you and me from getting down and dirty on the bed. Wait, what's this...?" He dug at the bottom of the box. "Awe. These are so cute." He carefully pulled out a few snow globes; my favourite ones, in fact.

I walked back to Jerome and sat down beside Nolan. "I like collecting snow globes." I picked up my favourite one; a rose gold deer was inside. The base of the snow globe was also painted rose gold to match. "This one's my favourite. It was the first one I got, actually. Orchid got it for me when I was in the hospital one year right before Christmas. I don't know, it calmed me down for from reason. So I started collecting snow globes every year. Sort of like... A reminder that I made it to another Christmas."

Jerome smiled softly at me, gently tucking some of my loose strands of hair behind my ear. "I think that's amazing." He leaned towards me and pressed his lips onto mine. I carefully set the snow globe on the ground before I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me.

I laid down on my back, pulling Jerome down with me. Jerome kissed me back for a few more moments before he pulled away. However, I leaned up, pressing kisses onto his neck. "Nolan."

       "Hmm?" I murmured.

"We can't have sex on the floor," he said.

"So we can go have sex on the bed?"

Jerome kissed me one last time before he pulled away and went back to taking out the decorations. For the next hour or so, Jerome and I used all the decorations in the box to decorate our bedroom. It was probably the only place in the house I could decorate for now. My family didn't exactly like me decorating the rest of the house 'too early'.

I could always decorate the house when my family wasn't home because I knew they wouldn't take the time to take it down, but I would rather use the opportunity of my family being out of the house to have sex with Jerome.

Maybe I should buy them tickets somewhere to get them out of the house.

"Thanks for helping me decorate the bedroom," I said as I pushed the now empty cardboard box off to the side of the room so it wouldn't be in the way. "As a celebration, I think we should-"

Jerome cut me off by gently grabbing my hand and pulling me towards where he was sitting on the bed. I ended up in his lap, where Jerome then pressed his lips onto mine. He cupped my face in his hands, kissing me deeply.

Jerome flipped us around so I was lying down on the bed with him hovering over me. My hands trailed down his chest, reaching the hem of his shirt. I tugged it up, thinking that Jerome was going to pull away, but he didn't. Well, he did, but just so he could take his shirt off before kissing me again.

Once he took off my shirt, he said, "We can't go too far right now."

"That's okay," I said, pulling him back to me and kissing him once again.
