SELENE VELVELA had a plan. A mission. And she could not fail.

But that was okay, because Selene never failed.

Selene had been born to a mother who never wanted her and a father who changed his mind. Her mother, Nadia, was a Veela. Vain as she was beautiful, with not an ounce of compassion or empathy.

Nadia, as Selene referred to her, had never been a mother to Selene. Hadn't even tried. Her mother's only talents lied in seducing men to get what she wanted, and throwing them away until they were of no use to her. Finally, in some karmic retaliation of the universe, one of those men had given Nadia something she didn't want.

Selene.

Nadia had no idea how to raise a daughter, and grew bitterer with each passing year. Selene always suspected it was because Nadia was jealous of her own beauty, arguably more enchanting than her own mother, despite being only half Veela. Then again, Selene was just as vain as her mother. She learned from the best.

Growing up, Selene learned how to smile so the shopkeeper would give her sweets free of charge. She practiced riding a broom, while still remaining flawless for hours at a time. She knew just how to flirt and bat her eyes and soften her voice to make things go her way. And when necessary, she used her Veela allure, precise and finessed to the tee. All it took was a flash of her red eyes, a careful blurring enchantment, and men were putty in her hands, She perfected every pout and every hair flip, even the dainty way in which she walked. She was- in essence- perfection in it's finest form.

In her opinion, the only thing her mother did right was name her Selene. After the moon goddess. And Selene definitely thought she was deserving of that title. She shone, iridescent, attracting everyone. Selene thought it was fate when Greyback found her, welcomed her into her pack. She'd never had a family before, and now she reigned over them all.

She was powerful, and beautiful. She had control over anyone and everyone. She was feared and worshipped, and to Selene there was nothing sweeter than the knowledge that she could bend people's will to her own accord.

The day she was bitten was the best day of her life. Fenrir Greyback, her father, her savior, had gifted her everything. She could do this for him- she had to- wanted to do this for him. For her brothers and sisters. She would bring Theodore Lupin back to the pack, and he would reign next to her as her mate, leading the battle. Greyback needed him, so Selene needed him. And Selene always got what she wanted.

There was just one thing standing in her way.

Juniper.

The pesky ponytail girl was just as annoying as her mother. The blonde witch that was among those currently trying to fight against them, who'd Selene enjoyed toying with, leaving her with a couple scars. Selene longed to give Juniper matching ones. It was a pity the blonde had gotten away, Selene would have liked to sink her teeth into that meaty flesh. She wouldn't get away again, if she was stupid enough to come back. Selene would make sure of it.

Once Teddy was there she would share, they could take turns mauling the pitiful wizards who dared oppose Greyback. Who treated werewolves like lepers instead of kings.

Selene would quite like to maul Juniper, bite her head off and taste her sweet sweet blood.

Juniper was not part of the plan.

And if you couldn't tell by now, Selene did not like it when something got in the way of her plan. She did not like it at all.

She had the boy right where she wanted him, and then she walked by, and he was gone. That girl messed everything up, from the first time Selene had laid eyes on Teddy. Her wolf senses zeroing in on another, she claimed him then. She had him, and then her. The stupid girl had been cold and Teddy had all but forgotten Selene was there in his rush to put a jacket over her shoulders.

Nobody forgot Selene.

Certainly not for someone like Juniper. What exactly did Teddy see in her? She was nothing much to look at. Selene knew she was undoubtedly prettier than her, but she was prettier than everyone. So what was it?

What was it that made him resist her and think about Juniper? What was it that had him drifting off during class, thinking about her and not Selene? What was it that a made him so much harder to control? It was supposed to be easy. It was always easy.

She couldn't figure out what was different. And she hated that. Selene hated when she wasn't in control. She was going to have to try something a little stronger, she decided. But first things first, she had to resolve this horrid issue of Juniper Potter.

Even thinking about it left a foul taste in her mouth.

Selene crept out of the shadows where she'd been watching Teddy and her, Greyback's words echoing in her mind: No mercy

She held the silver whistle aloft, glaring harshly at the engraved initials. J. P. Her eyes went red, then began to glow an eerie yellow. Selene clenched the small object in her fist, knuckles white.

Yes, Selene mused to herself, one thing was for sure, Juniper had to go.

Not to worry though, Selene was going to take care of it.

She always did.
