^media above is Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star variations (aka the song Colin plays, btw I couldn't find one with violin, just imagine a simple violin tune with it)

The next day, when Lily walked in, got a violin, and Miss Hanson began to instruct her, Colin gave her a little thumbs up. She returned it with a smile and then focused on what Miss Hanson was saying. Lily concluded that the D scale wasn't so hard after all. After learning a few short songs, Miss Hanson congratulated her with a huge smile on her face, told Lily she was a wonderful student, and went to go help a little boy who had somehow gotten his arm stuck inside a trombone.

"You were great today," Colin told her as he was playing a scale on the piano when she came over.

"Aren't I always?" she joked, "That's the D scale, isn't it?"

He nodded and continued to play, "So what did you learn today?"

Lily answered, "The D scale and some little songs."

"What songs?" Colin asked curiously.

"Uh..." Lily hesitated to answer. Surely her short little melodies were nothing compared to what Colin could do.

"Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star?" he guessed.

She looked at him in bewilderment and replied, "Yes... How'd you know?"

"It's one of the songs every beginner learns. There's no shame in it, you know," Colin assured her. He played the simple song on the piano, "Show me."

"What?" Lily said, taken aback.

"Play it for me. Please?"

She sighed but did so. The words appeared in her mind as she played. Twinkle, twinkle, little star—

And now Colin had picked up on it and played along with her. The two played the straightforward song with ease. Colin gave Lily his usual carefree grin and she winked back.

"Twinkle, twinkle, little star!" Colin sang loudly, apparently not caring that people had begun to stare, "How I wonder what you are!"

"Up above the world so high!" one of the parents sitting by the window continued happily.

The boy who'd gotten his arm unstuck from the trombone carried on the song, "Like a diamond in the sky!"

Colin laughed merrily and continued to play as the rest of the children sang. He called out, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star! How I wonder what you are! Come on, Lily! Keep going!"

Lily nodded as best as she could and grinned. Colin changed his part when they repeated, switching out the simple notes for a complex song of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. As breathtaking as his playing was, Lily felt no jealousy or embarrassment of her easy version compared to his complicated one. She felt free.

They repeated the song for another minute and then simultaneously stopped. Everyone in the studio clapped and cheered. And in that moment, Lily didn't feel overshadowed. She didn't feel like someone's daughter or sister. She felt like Lily.

"That..." Colin breathed out, starring at the keys of the piano.

"Felt wonderful," Lily finished for him.

He looked up and his gaze connected with hers, "Yeah. It did. I told you. We're destined for greatness together."

Lily laughed, "Sure, you are but a five year could've played mine," she joked playfully.

Colin punched her lightly on the arm, "Looks like you've got to go." He pointed to Ron, who was gesturing at them.

"Yeah," Lily replied, "I'll see you later, Colin. My birthday is coming up, by the way, July 7th, you should come."

Colin nodded, "Maybe. Bye, Lily!"

Lily skipped over to Uncle Ron. He clapped her on the back proudly. "That was quite something."

Lily agreed and mused, "It was, wasn't it?"
