The forest was filled with silence. The only noise heard was the sound of Isla's heavy breathing as she stared blankly at the corpses lying at her feet.

Well, this sucks, Isla thought as her head started to clear out a bit. She was glad that Valerie didn't get the chance to kill her but now, she didn't know where Hayden was and how she was going to find her.

However, there was no time to worry about Hayden right now. Isla walked towards their house, knowing that all the wolves must have transformed back, not that the moon was fully hidden.

She had to prove herself, prove that she is worthy of leadership. After all, she knew that everyone only ever saw her as Cameron's sidekick.

She skipped away from the rocks and strolled quickly to the big door. As she was about to open the door, she heard something that interested her.

"The moon is punishing us, for making a female the alpha." Noah said.

"Are you sure? Hayden said that the ring chose her."

"Clearly, that was a lie. Ever since Cameron and his father died, nothing good has happened to the pack. Today just adds more proof." Noah whispered.

"What do you suggest we do then?"

"It's pretty obvious, isn't it? There is no saving the pack, it has gone in too deep. All we can do is leave before the curse consumes us too." Noah said.

Isla looked at the door with furrowed eyebrows.

After all I did, Noah's convincing people to leave the pack? Isla thought, balling her fists. Nothing was going according to her plan and there was no fixing it now.

Isla opened the door, to which Noah stopped talking.

That's odd, Isla thought, Why did he stop talking when I entered? Wouldn't he want to convince me too?

"I hope you all are doing better." Isla said loudly as she scanned the room. Some people were lying on the sofas while the others were massaging their sore knees. Some were in pain while others were in anger.

Hayden ruined everything, again, Isla thought, trying to suppress her anger.

Isla felt a slight tap on her shoulder. She spun around to see Claudia in front of her as she signaled to talk to her alone. Leading their way, Isla and Claudia walked out of the house as silence filled the space in between them.

"I'm sorry Isla, I really am." Claudia said, looking right into Isla's eyes.

"I don't know if you heard, but most of the pack is planning on leaving, because of what happened today." Isla said through gritted teeth.

"I shouldn't have trusted Hayden. I just thought that she was the alpha's daughter and it made sense-" Claudia said.

"Silence! I don't have time for this. I see no point bickering about what's done." Isla said, looking at Claudia, "If you have anything else to say, then go ahead."

"I wanted you to know if there is anything I could do to make it up to you, let me know." Claudia said with earnest eyes.

"There is, actually. We need to find Hayden." Isla said, jumping at the opportunity.

"Why would we need her?" Claudia asked.

"I know that she is capable to be the alpha. Then why was the moon so against her? There's something that I don't know and I intend to find out." Isla said.

Or, I simply might need backup to end her life.

"Are you okay?" a man in his mid-twenties asked as Hayden was furiously rubbing her forehead.

"That's none of your business." she said in an irritated voice.

"Let me buy you a drink." he insisted.

"Listen, I don't have time for this. Find someone else to bother." Hayden said.

"It's not that big of a deal-" he began but was cut off by the squeals of someone.

"Hayden!" Isla exclaimed, causing Hayden to jump off her chair.

"Is something wrong?" he asked, to which Hayden asked him to leave sternly.

Now, it was only the three of them, Hayden, Isla, and Claudia who remained in the cafe.

"What do you want?" Hayden asked with a clear tone.

"There's a lot I don't know and I plan to figure it all out." Isla said.

"You should just ask Valerie, you seem to be in an alliance anyway." Hayden said.

"I would, but she's dead." Isla said to which Hayden looked back in shock. Hayden tried to interrogate but saw no point as Isla began speaking, not paying attention to her at all.

"Tell me. Why do you think every remained immobilized after the full moon?" Isla asked with vicious eyes.

"I don't know." Hayden lied.

If I tell her that I'm a human now, she'll kill me, without a second thought, Hayden thought as she tried not to break eye contact with Isla.

"You know it's funny. Claudia and I followed your scent and it led us here but it felt different." Isla said, looking at Hayden slyly.

"It felt like you weren't a wolf anymore." Claudia said, bringing a wide smile onto Isla's face.

Hayden backed away slowly, her heart was pounding out of her chest.

"There's no need to run Hayden, I'm not here to kill you. I just need you to come to the pack and explain this to them." Isla said.

"And what would I even say? That suddenly, I'm not a wolf anymore?" Hayden asked, irritated.

"Tell them that Valerie did something which made you a human. Tell them that the moon couldn't stand the fact that a human was the alpha and so she punished us all!" Isla said.

I need her to vouch for this. It's the only way they'll all stay.

"What's it to you anyway?" Hayden asked.

"Thanks to you, the pack is planning on breaking up! They think that it's cursed!" Isla exclaimed.

"What's it to me? I won't even be a part of it now." Hayden said. Her heart broke saying those words but it was something she had to learn to accept.

"I think you should just help her out." Claudia said as Hayden scoffed.

"Besides, you can easily just kill me once you get what you want." Hayden said.

"You're no competition to me anymore. You're not even a wolf." Isla said, chuckling.

Those words stung. Just a few seconds ago, she told herself that she was going to accept it. But every time she thought about it, her heart sank deeper and deeper.

"Think it through, I know you'll make the right choice." Isla said as she walked off with Claudia following her.

Her mind was clogged and she felt suffocated, unable to breathe. There was nothing left for her here and a part of her was willing to do as Isla asked but something was stopping her.

She didn't know what to do and her mind was filled with doubts and confusion.

She felt her heart weaken, feeling even more suffocated than she did when Isla was around. She held onto a chair that was in front of her and tripped over nothing.

She grabbed her chest suddenly, as she panted for air.

What's happening! she thought, her mind filled with panic.

She wanted to cry for help but she couldn't bring herself to. As she closed her to blink, a void haunted her thoughts as sweat ran down her forehead.

She heard faint footsteps hurry towards her and shake her body vigorously. She tried to see who it was but her vision was blurry and she wasn't able to make out anything.

Her pulse slowed down, and so did the world around her. She could hear the clock ticking with each passing second, but the seconds seemed longer every time.

I guess I was always meant to die all alone, Hayden thought, hurt.

She took her last breath on Earth and her heart stopped beating completely. All the time she spent running, hiding, fighting, it had all come to an end.

Her death was final and no magic could bring her back this time.
