Percy had never been to a muggle party, much less a school dance. The only kind of social events he'd ever gone to were balls and formal dinners, all of them high class, and with only the most important and influential of purebloods and (some) half bloods invited. This... informal party filled to the brim with muggle children wasn't exactly an environment he was used to.

Red and black (the colours of the school, perhaps?) balloons covered the gym floor and some were floating in the ceiling. A bunch of male students were kicking it to each others faces and trying to strangle their friends with the decorations. Girls wearing bright colored pants and tops were spread around the room in groups, some talking, others were wielding lipstick like weapons and surrounding lone boys to attack their faces with makeup.

Percy must've been standing there with a bewildered expression or something because Thalia snorted. "Not what you expecting, rich boy?"

The son of Poseidon shook his head. "I admit... the parties I've attended before were more of the... formal sort. Is this what a muggle school dance is like?" He murmured this question underneath his breath, slightly overwhelmed by the loud music playing and feeling more than a little out of place. Before Thalia could question what the hell a muggle was, Grover nodded towards some younger kids arguing by the bleachers.

"There they are." The satyr murmured and Percy followed his gaze to a young girl and an even younger boy. The girl, obviously the older sister, wore a floppy green hat and was scolding her little brother who was shuffling what looked to be a deck of cards. Both had olive skin and silky black hair and were using their hands a lot to communicate, the girl kept looking around around the gym as if she was paranoid about something and judging by her slightly tense movements she was.

"Are they aware of their heritage?" Percy asked and Grover shook his head.

"You know how it is. The moment they realize who they are their scents would get stronger, it might put them into more danger." The raven haired boy wondered briefly how that worked, as someone who lived behind magical protective wards most of his life Percy had never had to worry about his scent attracting monsters, even if, he was told time and time again by monsters, he smelled exceptionally delicious.

"We should get them out now, then." Before he could move forwards, however, Thalia put her hand on his shoulder to stop him.

"We have to be more cautious, I don't know how long your magic or whatever will keep Thorn at bay, but he could come in at any moment. We'll have to act like students then gradually get closer to those two." The spiky haired girl reasoned.

Percy mentally berated himself for not thinking about that sooner, drawing attention to themselves would be unnecessary, and if it could involve the schoolchildren around them, potentially very dangerous.

"Don't look at those kids either, we don't want them to be suspicious of us either, and it would throw Thorn off to smell three powerful demigods somewhere else in this room." Annabeth ordered, and without further conversation the daughter of Zeus grabbed Grover's hand and dragged him off further into the gym, saying something about dancing, something called Green Day and mingling.

Now left alone with Annabeth, Percy turned to his friend and jokingly bowed. "Well? Would you like to dance, my lady?" The young wizard smirked and she punched him lightly on the shoulder before accepting his hand. The two glided towards the dance floor where Percy placed one hand on her waist, Annabeth clasped his other hand and they both swayed slightly to the music.

"You're not so bad at this, Riddle." the daughter of Athena commented, not really surprised as she knew her friend was born into some rich family that probably insisted he knew the basics of ballroom dancing. She expected him to be graceful, like he always seemed to be, weather it be in a fight to the death or waltzing.

Percy shrugged slightly with a sly smile. "Dancing is something a gentleman should learn, it makes one much more desirable,"

Annabeth laughed, "Right, because you're very desirable aren't you?" her eyes scanned the room and she smirked. "Well, all the girls over here seem to think so... " a quick look around the gym showed that many of the female students had stopped and stared at the duo dancing, more specifically at Percy who sighed,

"Well of course they do, who could ignore this handsome face?" A punch was directed at his stomach leaving him slightly winded.

Talking like this with Annabeth after many months of only writing letters was refreshing, his friend had changed quite a bit since they last met ages ago. Her hair was longer and she had grown in height, although Percy was still taller and he was sure he could thank his adopted father's genes for that. In a way she seemed more... mature. Her quest to the sea of monsters had obviously affected her in many ways.

"So.. how is your new school doing?" Annabeth's eyes lit up, happy as she began explaining about new programs and such, her expression growing brighter.

"But.." she sighed, suddenly looking down.

"Is something the matter?" Percy questioned, concerned as the blonde pursed her lips.

"Its my dad, just as I'm getting settled in New York he took this stupid job to research for a World War 1 book and wants to move to San Francisco." she says this as if her father had just suggested to live in some dirty flat in Knockturn Alley.

"So he wants you to come with him?" she nodded miserably "To the other side of the country? He should know by now that half-bloods can't live in San Francisco." Percy resisted the urge to ask why, "So you're going to go back to living in camp, then?" His friend's relationship with her father was rocky- he knew this, but he had thought that they were working it out and was getting better.

"It's more serious than that... I... I should probably tell you something." Suddenly she froze. The two stopped their dancing.

"They're gone." Annabeth realized suddenly. The young wizard followed her worried gaze to see that the two half blood kids had indeed disappeared, the doors next to the bleachers were wide open. "We have to go get the others!" Annabeth exclaimed, frantic as she looked around searching "Damn it, where are they? Come on!" before she could run off though Percy snatched her hand.

"You go ahead, I'll make sure the kids aren't in too much danger." Before she could refuse Percy tightened his grip a little, "I won't take any drastic action, only if those two are in critical danger. I'll stay hidden, make sure the coast is clear and that Thorn doesn't get too far away. If you're worried I'm going to get caught, I have my pendant." He reminded her, tugging it out so she could see. Annabeth relented when she saw the determination in his eyes and the reason behind his words. He missed this.

"Fine! Just make sure we don't lose them," she said before running away in the opposite direction to find Thalia and Grover. Swiftly avoiding a group of girls coming his way, Percy turned in a slow circle, examining the room to see where the kids might have been taken. As he was doing this he saw a sight that raised alarm bells in his head.

About fifty feet away a floppy green hat, the very same one that Bianca Di Angelo was wearing only minutes ago, was laying on the gym floor. Not a few steps away there some scattered cards, the son of Poseidon whipped his head around as he caught a glimpse of Dr. Thorn hurrying out a door at the opposite end of the gym with the two Di Angelo siblings tight in his grasp.

Without further hesitation the sea green eyed teen took riptide from his coat packet and grasped the sword-pen on one hand, his other gripping his wand, and moved like a shadow across the gymnasium floor. Percy passed others unseen, merely a trick of the light, as the snake pendant around his neck began its work.

To greet the new month I present you with a new chapter! I hope you liked and enjoyed it! Tell me what you think as usual. I'm exited to get a move on with the plot, next chapter is going to be very action filled. Arghhhhhhh I don't know about the dialogue in this though, I feel like when it comes to writing the one thing I really have to improve is conversations between characters. Oh and to those who requested a one shot for my "Extra's from the Dark Heir series" book thanks for being patient!! I'm very slowly going through it.
