DELETED SCENES ARE THE BEST

Everyone here has seen the mall deleted sense, right? XD

~

The next day, they (as in River, Jubilee, Scott, and Kurt) were lounging around one of the many parlours upstairs in the house when Scott stood up. River and Jean looked up from their chess game, Jubilee looked up from fixing the pins on her jacket, and Kurt looked up from his new book.

"What now, Summers?" River said with a smile.

"We should go out," he announced. Jean raised an eyebrow. "Prison break." The mansion was nice, but after about one day of school, Scott had gotten very bored. It was practically a boarding school, and he wanted out. He usually went to the mall or some place after school, and without that freedom, he was slowly suffocating with boredom.

"As if. And this place isn't a prison. Plus you know we're not allowed to leave without anyone's consent, right?" she said. River nodded.

"The professor and Hank aren't here though!" Scott protested. "We could take a car, I know how to drive, and go to a mall 'round here!" Jubilee perked up.

"The mall?" she grinned at River. River sighed.

"I mean..." River trailed off. "That does sound..."

"Fun?" suggested Scott.

"No, against the rules," Jean cut in. "If the professor found out, we could all get in big trouble." Kurt watched the debate with great curiosity.

"What is a...mall?" he asked. Jubilee gasped theatrically.

"Ok, now we have to go! I'll be so stoked if we went to the mall! C'mon, Riv!" she pleaded. River looked at Jean, and Jean sighed.

"It is officially a matter of national duty because of him," Scott added, nodding to Kurt. C'mon...agree with me! he thought. I'm slowly dying in this mansion!

"Well, what do you think, Kurt?" Jean asked the blue mutant. He nodded.

"I would like to go to the mall," he said, the new word heavy on his tongue. Scott put his hands up in exasperation.

"Well, we're going! Where does the professor keep the cars?" He started to walk towards the stairs. Kurt followed him, closing his book with his tail. Jubilee stood up and grabbed River, dragging her along.

"Jubi!" River laughed. "Jean! C'mon!" she called. Jean sighed and used her telekinesis to pack up the chess. There wa no way of talking them out of this.

"Wait up!" She ran after them.

~

"Ok, what to do first...hm..." River stood next to Scott by one of the maps.

The ride had been about fifteen to twenty minutes long; there wasn't much near the mansion. The ride felt much shorter though. Scott was a decent driver, and Jubilee sat shotgun. She had called it faster than River. They had taken the yellow convertible, the only one Scott was willing to take. He complained that they were all "too old."

Kurt looked around in wonder at all the people and colorful shops. Jean went up to River, looking at the color-coded sign.

"Arcade?" she suggested.

"Ooo! Yes!" River said excitedly. Scott grinned.

"Sure. Arcade good?" he asked Jubilee behind him. She nodded enthusiastically. They all turned around and started to walk towards the escalator.

"Ha! I'm going to totally beat you at 'Mario' again, Riv!" she teased. River rolled her eyes.

"Ok, you cheated last time!" she shouted.

"Oh my god, you guys are drawing attention. Again!" scolded Jean with a laugh.

"Whatever, Mom." Jubilee grinned then stuck her tongue out.

"They have a sort of rivalry at the arcade," Jean explained to Scott. "And then the new two-player game, Mario, got them even more competitive. It's like a weird cousin thing."

"Ah," he said. He looked around. "Come on, Kurt, it's upstairs. Don't get lost." Scott grabbed Kurt before he wandered off.

"Ok," Kurt replied. He was shocked that no one laughed at him or pointed.

"Wait!" Jubilee stopped making everyone bump into her.

"Ow!" River rubbed her arm. "What happened?"

"That." Jubilee pointed to a red leather jacket that matched Michael Jackson's in "Thriller" displayed in the window of a store. Scott whistled.

"Sweet jacket. What about it?" he asked. She turned to look at Kurt, who was distracted at all the children running around.

"Ohhhhh," River got it. "Jubi, we don't have any money remember? You only have a few quarters, and your wallet is at home. Which sucks because your parents are ri-I mean, 'well off.'" Jubilee rolled her eyes.

"Um...what's happening?" asked Scott, who was very confused.

"Jean, tell him," Jubilee said. Jean closed her eyes, and suddenly, Scott heard her voice.

Jubilee wants to get Kurt that jacket, she said. Well, it said. He looked at her in shock - her lips hadn't moved at all.

"How did you-" She put her finger to her lip and then pointed to her temple. Oh yeah, she has telepathy. That's pretty cool. He looked back at River and Jubilee who were debating. Kurt looked confused.

"-on't have any money!"

"Uh huh! Does anyone have money?" Jubilee turned to the other kids. Scott nodded.

"I have quarters. But they're for the arcade..."

"Ok well anyways," she turned back around. "Riv, you have money!"

"From Charles! And that's back at home!"

"Nope," Jean cut in. She used her power to levitate a wallet out of River's small side-bag. River grabbed it out of the air and stuffed it back in.

"Ok ok fine! But no one tells Charles! Or Hank!" She glared at Jubilee and Jean.

"Yay!" Jubilee jumped up and down, then grabbed Kurt and dragged him into the store.

"What is happening?" he asked frantically.

"Just follow her; she knows her stuff!" River called. The remaining three laughed and followed them into the store. A few minutes and fittings later, Kurt walked out of the doors with a brand new jacket. He seemed to really like it too. Jean and Jubilee high fived as River paid. Scott smiled.

"You better pay me back, Jubi," said River.

"Yeah yeah. Thanks cus," she said as she hugged her. "Arcade! Woo!"

"We haven't been to the mall in weeks, so she's really excited. She's a bit of a mallrat," River laughed.

"Hey!" Jubilee said at the name. "I heard that!"

"I can tell," Scott remarked. She smiled.

"So...what is an arcade?" Kurt asked.

~ twenty minutes later ~

"Haha!" Jubilee said. "I got you!" River let out a frustrated mutter. "Language, River, geez!"

"Cheater," said River. Jubilee rolled her eyes. Next to them, Scott and Jean played a game with some birds. The main objective was to push the other bird off until all of their lives were gone and to gain the most points. There were also other obstacles and special prizes like extra lives.

"I'm...hey...wait...what?" Scott said in shock as he pulled the controller. "You're beating me!" River looked over.

"Nope. She's actually crushing you, Scott." He shook his head and groaned as Jean score more points.

"You're reading my mind," Scott mumbled.

"Hey, I don't need to read your mind to know that you always go to the top," Jean laughed. She whooped as her character took Scott's character's last life. "Ha! Take that!" Scott groaned. "Rematch, laser eyes?" She leaned on the game smugly.

"Clever, Jean, real clever," commented Jubilee about the nickname. Jean stuck her tongue out playfully. Scott checked his pockets.

"I don't have any more quarters," he said sadly. "River? You have any left?"

"I'm saving them for Kurt." She thought for a second. "Jubilee!" River signaled.

"Got it," she said. Jubilee ducked under their legs and put her hand over the quarter deposit. A "net" of small blue fireworks gathered in her hand. She flattened her palm, and the sparks went into the booth, restarting the game.

"Thanks," said Scott. He and Jean went back to playing. "No! Not again!" He groaned as Jean started to score more points. She grinned. River smiled and went to find Kurt.

River's POV

Kurt was playing two games at once: Pac-Man with his hands, and a racing game with his tail. River smiled a bit as she saw kids stare at his tail in awe.

"Woah...cool," one said. She went over to him, handed him and his friends two quarters for the compliment, and ruffled his hair.

"Hey Kurt!" she greeted. He grinned.

"This place is the best place I've ever been too!" He looked really happy. "Are we in heaven?" River laughed.

"Closest I've been to," she said. "I think we're going to get some food in a few minutes. That good?" He nodded and went back to playing. She left some quarters for him and walked back.
River came back to a frustrated Scott and a victorious Jean. She looked at the final score and laughed.

"Wow, you really suck, Summers."

"Hey!"

"You do!" Jubilee agreed.

"Whatever," he replied with an eye roll. "Where's Kurt?"

"Still playing," said River. "He's using his tail and some kids love it. It's pretty cool."

"He's a natural," Scott laughed.

Scott's POV

After finishing at the arcade, the five went down to the food court. River, once again, paid for some slushies. The rest of them went to go find a table.

"Alright, here is blue raspberry for Jean, watermelon for Scott, mango for Jubilee, and peach for Kurt," River announced. She put the tray down and they all grabbed their drinks. She took her own blue one. Scott noticed she and Jean shared the same taste in slushies. He smiled to himself for no apparent reason. What's wrong with you, Scott?!

"Thanks, Riv," he said as she sat down next to him. It had been his request for slushies. They sat in a circle: Jean, Jubilee, Scott, River, and Kurt.

"No problem," she smiled.

"Ok, so I was looking at movie times," Jubilee said, pulling out a piece of paper with movie theater showtimes. They were planning on watching the new Star Wars movie, Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Scott and River looked up excited.

"You guys are such nerds," Jean said.

"Star Wars is awesome!" he argued.

"Anyways," Jubilee continued. "There's one in about an hour, so we can go to the record shop."

"Yay!" River clapped her hands together.

Kurt had been examining the new drink and finally decided to try it. He sipped a little; it was delicious! He took a gulp, and they all looked up as he slurped it up. River smiled a bit. Kurt suddenly felt his head go cold and a headache formed.

"Ahhh!" he yelled. "Something is wrong! My head - it hurts!" Scott and River exchanged glances, and Jubilee held in a laugh. Jean grinned a bit.

"It's called a brain freeze," Scott said. Kurt looked worried.

"What?! I froze my brain?!" he asked frantically.

"Yep," River said with a sad face. Jean gave her a look. "What?"

"No, Kurt, calm down," said Jubilee, laughing. "It happens to everyone."

"You'll be fine," Jean said. Kurt nodded, already feeling the effects of the "brain freeze" wear off.

After finishing the drinks, the five went over to the record store, a hip-looking room filled with shelves and shelves of records. River sighed as they went in.

"Paradise!" she said. "Next to the bookstore."

"She does this every single time," Jubilee whispered to Scott. Kurt looked around in wonder at the packages of disks. "Here come with me, Kurt. Riv, go do your stuff." She took Kurt by the arm to look at the new American records, and River bounced off into the shop.

"She loves music," Jean said with a laugh.

"I can tell," Scott agreed. "You listen to anything good?" Jean shrugged.

"Whatever they give me," Jean nodded at the two other girls. "And sometimes classical."

"Well, wanna look for some records?" he asked. She nodded with a smile.

River's POV

"Jubi! Eurythmics made the record for 'Sweet Dreams,' and it has 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Love is a Stranger' on it!" River said excitedly. Jubilee looked over and grinned.

"Nice! You going to get it?" River sadly shook her head.

"I'm going to save up some more. Then definitely!" They high fives.

"Who are they?" Kurt asked, looking at the cover of the record River held up.

"One of the best bands ever!" River said. "They aren't super popular right now, but they'll get famous soon." There was some laughter in the back, and the three looked over. Scott and Jean were laughing about something they found. Jubilee smiled, but River's smile faltered. "I'm going to put this away. Be right back," she said, and then ran off. She went back to the E section, which was unfortunately close to where Scott and Jean were in the C area. Trying to be quiet, she carefully slipped the record back and tried to walk away.

"Riv! Hey!" Scott called. She inwardly groaned but turned around with a smile.

"Hello there," she said in a mock accent. He laughed a little, making her smile more.

"Doesn't Jean look like this?" He held up a Culture Club record that had a picture of Boy George on it. Jean rolled her eyes.

"Mmm, sort of," River said with a smile.

"Rude!" Jean said. River grinned and went back to Jubilee. She looked at the shelves with a small frown. Jubilee noticed.

"Hey, Kurt?" she said. He looked up. "Could you give us a minute? Just real quick?"

"Yeah, sure," he said. He went towards the front of the store, looking at all the bizarre covers.

"What's wrong?" she asked, turning back to River. River shook her head. "Riv...c'mon. What happened?"

"Nothing. It's stupid." River awkwardly shuffled through the records.

"Rivera, you better tell me or I'm telling Alex you used to write his name all over your notebook!"

"Hey that's blackmail!"

"Tell me already!" Jubilee insisted.

"Ok ok." She took a deep breath. "I'm jealous of Jean and Scott." She looked down and felt her cheeks burn.

"What? Why? They aren't dating. Wait, are they dating?!"

"No, they aren't. But whenever she's with him...I don't know. I get jealous. Especially since he seems to like her a lot too."

"Someone has a crush..."

"Shut up."

"It's fine, Riv. He likes you too." River looked up.

"How do you know?" Jubilee shrugged. "Jubi! Tell me!"

"What? I don't know for sure, but I can sense it." Jubilee put her fingers to her temple and playfully made a buzzing noise, imitating Charles. River rolled her eyes, but felt better. She trusted Jubilee with this stuff. "You just love the Summers boys, don't you?"

"You better not tell ANYONE about this or you're dead," River warned.

"Uh huh." Jubilee looked up at the clock on the wall. "Well, the movie is starting soon. Let's go!" she said happily. "Scott! Jean! Kurt! Come on!" The three looked up and walked over as she waved at them.

"You excited?" Scott asked River. He had run up to walk next to her to the theater. She looked up and nodded.

"Who wouldn't be?" she laughed.

"I know right! But Episode IV was the best," he said.

"We'll debate after this, Summers," she grinned, using the nickname she used for Alex. Scott had proved himself worthy of it.

At the theater, River paid for three tickets but Jubilee paid for the other two with some remaining money from the arcade. Jubilee made sure that Kurt didn't get lost in the dark room.

"Over here!" she called once she found a row. River, Scott, and Jean carefully walked over and around other people. River accidentally tripped over a seat, but Scott caught her.

"You good?" he asked. She nodded with a smile.

They reached the seats. Kurt sat on the end, Jubilee next, then River, Scott, and Jean. Scott grinned when he sat down next to River, making her blush a bit. She was glad the room was dark.

"Oh my gosh, it's happening!" Jubilee said excitedly. Scott and River laughed. Jean smiled. The Star Wars anthem came on, and the whole theater clapped.

At the end, River was in tears. The whole movie was amazing, and from the beginning their eyes were glued to the screen. The end was very emotional. Everyone was celebrating: the Ewoks, the different cities, all the aliens and humans. It was the last episode, after all! Kurt was amazed (and a bit scared at moments) of the fight sequences, the romance, and the different characters. River felt someone suddenly hold her hand, and turned to see Scott grinning at her.

"Stop crying," he mouthed at her. What a goof. His smile made her smile even more. Turning back to the screen, Han Solo and Princess Leia hugged tightly, making Jubilee squeal. Jean laughed. River almost screamed when the ghosts of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda appeared. Scott gasped and then whooped a bit. Once the movie ended and they got out of the theater, there was much debate.

"Ok, that was SO good!" River said. She and Scott were walking close together, and Jubilee next to them. Jean was trying to explain the movie plot to Kurt behind them.

"Yeah, but nothing'll beat Empire," Jubilee argued. "It was the most sophisticated and wasn't afraid to have a dark ending."

"Ok, but without the first one, these two would've never happened!" said Scott. This time River rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, and? The one was way better!" she said.

"Say what you want," Jubilee, said turning to Scott, "we can all agree that the third one is always the worst."

"Hey!" said River. Jubilee smirked and Scott laughed.

"Well, I think we can all agree that you three are the biggest nerds I know," Jean cut in. They all laughed.

"How was the movie for you, Kurt?" River asked. He looked at her.

"It was good," he nodded. "But what did Darth Vader do to make himself so bad? And why were there those blue things? And why did Luke look at Leia that way?" The three fans gasped.

"I tried to explain," Jean shrugged.

"Ok while we drive back, we'll educate you," Scott said, tossing the keys into the air. River caught them in midair.

"Shotgun!" Jubilee groaned as River grinned.

"No fair!" she said. Jean nodded, but River just stuck out her tongue out.

"I'm still driving though," Scott said, taking the keys out of River's hand.

"You know, I could drive if I wanted to," Jubilee said as they walked towards the doors.

"Uh huh," River snorted. Jubilee nudged her. "Ow!"

"Let's go back before the professor notices we're gone," Jean smiled. They walked out the exit, laughing and talking.
