(violet's outfit for this chapter)

It was the end of summer break. Violet went to camp for the summer and she honestly loved it. It was the first time she ever went to camp before and she had a blast, but she was glad to be back. For the summer Violet decided to change her hair. She had pretty long hair before so she decided to cut it so it was shoulder blade length. It was nice to try something different, plus the short hair felt cooler in the summer.

Jackson and Ramona had been away the whole summer going to camp. While Ramona went to dance camp, Jackson went to a wilderness camp. Violet wasn't really a fan of camp so she stayed home during the summer. She was at the Fuller's house in the kitchen, smiling as she watched DJ put Tommy on the floor and helped him walk. Tommy had been learning how to walk lately. Violet couldn't believe how much he had grown in the past few months.

"Tommy, you're getting so much better at it!" Violet praised, smiling proudly after DJ picked Tommy up.

DJ smiles widely. "Right? He's growing up too fast, he needs to stop." She said jokingly. She glances down at her youngest son with a smile. "Pretty sure you're gonna do this all by yourself! You'll be walking and then running....And then going to college." She frowns. "And then I'll be a grandma. And you're gonna put me in a nursing home. Yu got a lot of nerve!" Violet chuckles lightly, smiling with amusement as DJ put him back in his highchair. "So, Vivi, guess what?" She said, smiling at the teen.

Violet smiles back at her, raising her eyebrows and looking curious. "What?"

"I finally made a decision between Matt or Steve." DJ admitted.

Violet's eyes widen and she smiles. "Deej, that's great! If you don't tell me who you picked I will literally die." She dramatically spoke. She was surprised that DJ had finally made a decision, but she was happy that she did.

DJ laughs and rolls her eyes playfully. She then walks over to where Violet sat at the table, whispering who she picked in her ear. Violet gasps, her eyes widen and an excited smile tugs on her lips. "Seriously?"

"I know!" DJ nods in agreement, smiling from ear to ear. "I was as surprised as you are!"

"We're back!"

Violet turns her attention to the door that led to the kitchen, smiling widely when she saw Kimmy, Ramona, and Jackson. As DJ hugged them, Violet got up to hug them as well. "Mona!" She said excitedly to Ramona, who grins at her as they hug. "How was dance camp?"

"It was amazing, Vivi!" Ramona grins. She shakes her head. "Kinda awkward with my mom being there though."

"I thought parents weren't allowed there." Violet raised her eyebrows, looking at her with confusion.

"She stayed after she came for visiting day." Ramona explained and Violet nodded in realization. She then walked over to DJ and Jackson with a smile.

"You've only been gone eight weeks and you're already taller than I am," DJ smiles sadly and ruffles his hair. "Stop growing."

"That's not the only change." Jackson responds, his voice cracking. He cringes, looking embarrassed. Then his eyes lit up when he saw Violet and he beams at her. "Violet!" He walked past his mom, pulling Violet into a tight hug.

"Jackson!" Violet grins, hugging him back immediately. "I missed you." Despite the fact that it was only eight weeks, it still wasn't the same not being able to see each other every day.

"Missed you too." Jackson replies as they pull away from the hug. Jackson walks over to the fridge to get himself a water bottle as Violet leans against the kitchen island. "How was summer?"

"Boring without you guys." Violet admits. "Camp was good I assume?"

"Of course it was." Jackson grins. He glances back at her with a smile. "But not the same without you of course." Violet smiled softly and nodded in response. DJ smiled knowingly as she watched the interaction.

"Ramona, tell everybody how you did at Dance Camp." Kimmy suggested.

"Mom, you know I hate to brag." Ramona shook her head.

Kimmy shrugs. "Okay, then I'll brag." Ramona looks surprised but then she shrugs and smiles. Kimmy walks over to the others with a wide smile. "Ramona won Best Dancer, Most Likely To Star On Broadway, and Happiest Feet."

Ramona smiles widely, tapping her mom on the shoulder. "You forgot Jazziest Hands." She added, showing off her jazz hands.

"Mona, that's great!" Violet smiles at Ramona. "Proud of you."

"Thanks, Vivi." Ramona smiled back at her.

"And guess who won Oldest Dancer?" Kimmy asked excitedly.

"I'm guessing you but that'd be too obvious." Violet remarked with a teasing smile.

"Mom came up for Visitors' Day and the visit never ended." Ramona informed the group.

"Hey, I was only there for the last six weeks." Kimmy defended herself.

Ramona nods. "Of a seven-week program."

"Oh come on, we had so much fun." Kimmy pulls her daughter in for a side hug. "Oh. We had the whole camp doing the Gibbler Gallop." She pulls away from Ramona, grinning ."Yeah, come on. Let's do it. Five, six, seven, eight..." Ramona stands by her mom and copies her movement. "Sparkle, and sparkle, and spin, and spin, and spank, spank, spank..." Kimmy smiles widely, hugging her daughter. "Oh, I knew you wanted to gallop."

"Well, uh, while you guys were out galloping," Jackson chimes in, setting his water bottle down on the kitchen island before he walks around it, standing by Violet who still leaned against the kitchen island. "I was at Wilderness Camp breaking some hearts."

Violet couldn't help the snicker that left her lips when he said that. He sends her a look and she smiles apologetically. "Sorry, I just...Heard something funny. I'll be quiet now."

Jackson rolls his eyes playfully and glances at his mom with a smile. "You wanna hear what happened?"

DJ's eyes lit up and she smiles excitedly. "Hold on. My teenage son is actually about to share something that happened in his life?"

"You're right. Never mind." Jackson shook his head and walked away.

"No, no!" DJ grabs his arm and pulls him back. "No." She smiles. "What happened?"

"Well, let's just say the babes were all over me like mosquitoes." Jackson replies. He smiles. "But I did stay true to Lola. Poor thing but have been missing her boo like crazy."

As if on cue, the door opens revealing Lola. Lola gasps, smiling excitedly and outstretches her arms. "You're back!"

Thinking she meant him, Jackson opens his arms and smiles widely. "I sure am!"

Lola ducks under his arms and went straight for Ramona. Jackson lowers his arms, awkwardly smiling as Lola and Ramona jump up and down excitedly while squealing. Violet chuckles, patting Jackson on the shoulder to comfort him. "I wanna hear every detail of your entire summer!" Lola shouted excitedly.

"And I wanna hear every detail of your entire summer!" Ramona told her with a grin. Then they both jumped up and down, squealing excitedly.

"And now I'm deaf." Violet muttered, wincing at the loud squeals, but she smiled as Lola and Ramona ran up the stairs. Throughout the summer she had became closer friends with Lola. Turns out Lola isn't really that bad to hang out with and she didn't mind hanging out with Lola, but she knew Lola and Ramona were closer friends than she was with Lola and she was fine with that.

Jackson walks over to the stairs. "Yeah, we'll catch up later." He called out to Lola.

"Hey, you two don't make any plans this afternoon," DJ interjects. "Because I am throwing my annual..." She pulls a t-shirt out of a box on the kitchen island. "End-of-Summer-Back-to-School Super..." She turns the shirt over to the back. "Fun Barbecue 2016!"

Violet chuckles and smiles in amusement, raising her eyebrows. "That's the name of the barbecue?"

DJ cringes. "Okay, maybe that name was too long."

"Yeah, just a bit." Violet nodded in agreement.

Jackson turns to Violet with a smile. "Wanna go hang out? We have a whole summer to catch up on."

"Sure." Violet grinned and followed him up the stairs.

****

After catching up for a few hours Jackson claimed he wanted to go check in on Ramona and Lola but Violet knew he just wanted to have an excuse to see Lola again which she didn't mind. She found it cute and a bit amusing. She followed him across the hall to Ramona's room where music could be heard playing. She saw Lola and Ramona were dancing and she covered her mouth to stifle a laugh when Jackson joined in on dancing, but he was much worse than them.

Lola and Ramona stop dancing after noticing Jackson, both staring at him with weirdly. Ramona went to go turn off the music as Lola grabbed her backpack. Jackson stops dancing after hearing the music was turned off. Ramona crosses her arms. "Can we help you?"

"Oh, yeah," Jackson puts his hands on his hips and smiles. "I just came by to say hey to my bae." He smiles at Lola. "Hey, bae."

Lola exchanges a glance with Ramona and Lola looks at her pleadingly. "Help me here."

"Jackson, Lola doesn't wanna hurt your feelings, but she's not your bae." Ramona softly said.

Jackson's smile fell. "Not my bae? What about our full-on make out session after Kimmy's almost wedding? You remember?"

"That wasn't a make out session." Lola answers. "That's how I kiss my grandma."

Jackson shrugs. "You must really like your grandma."

"The point is we're just friends." Lola told him.

"I'm back in the friend zone?" Jackson said in disbelief. "I spent all last year clawing my way out. Well, I guess you missed out on Action Jackson." He frowns. He stops heading for the door, turning to face Lola with a smile. "Oh, who am I kidding? I'll wait for you forever. Action out."  Violet chuckled softly and followed Jackson out of the room, sharing a smile with Lola and waved goodbye as she closed the door behind her.

The two best friends met DJ in the hallway and Violet noticed DJ held a laundry basket. Jackson puts his hands on his hips. "Man, I just said something really stupid."

"Yeah, I heard you say 'Action out'." DJ sympathetically smiled. She walked into Jackson's and Max's room with the two teens following her.

"Hey, mom, were you ever a teenage girl before?" Jackson asked and Violet chuckled.

DJ raises her eyebrows at him in disbelief and then smiles in amusement. "Yeah, for about seven years."

"What did guys do to impress you way back in the olden days?" Jackson inquired.

DJ plays along. "Well, you know, they churned some buttermilk...Raised a barn..." She smiles softly. "Look, if this is about impressing Lola, just be yourself. You're a great guy."

Jackson sighs. "You're my mom. That means nothing."

"Okay, how's this?" DJ said, setting the laundry basket on Max's bed before turning to Jackson. "Women love confidence. Oh, I used to love when Steve would make a big confident entrance. He used to walk right in and take what he wanted. Right from the refrigerator." She smiled.

"Big confident entrance." Jackson nods, crossing his arms as he smiles. Violet could tell that the gears were turning in his head and he was already getting an idea by the look on his face. "I like that."

"Yeah." DJ smiles. "Hey, any girl would be lucky to have a handsome young man like you." She then made eye contact with Violet with a smile before she then kissed his cheek, some of her lipstick leaving a stain on his cheek. Violet chuckled lightly and smiled at the sweet interaction. She was confused at what the look DJ sent her meant, but she didn't bother in asking at the moment.

"Thanks, mom." Jackson smiles. "But once again, that means nothing." DJ smiled and wiped the lipstick off.

After noticing Kimmy doing the Gibbler Gallop outside with some man, Violet was confused and curious so she went down stairs to check it out. Stephanie was outside, sitting on a bench with her guitar. "Uh, why is Kimmy doing the Gibbler Gallop with a stranger?" Violet asked with confusion.

"Yeah," Stephanie chimes in, looking just as confused as Violet "Why is he galloping like a Gibbler?"

"Because all Gibblers gallop." Kimmy replies and Jimmy smiles. "This is my little brother, Jimmy." Stephanie's eyes widen and she stared at Jimmy in disbelief.

"Oh, hi." Violet greets and smiles at Jimmy. "Nice to meet you, I'm Violet."

Jimmy gasps. "Like the flower!"

"That's right." Violet nodded and chuckled.

"Nice to meet you too." Jimmy smiled.

"I just kissed a Gibbler?" Stephanie asked in disgust.

Violet stares at her with surprise. "You kissed him?"

Kimmy glances at Jimmy with disgust. "You just kissed a Tanner?" Then the two women looked at each other with disgust and stepped away, both speaking at the same time.

"Ew!"

"Why didn't you tell me you were Kimmy's brother?" Stephanie asked Jimmy.

"Well, I just figured you remembered me...I mean, who kisses a total stranger?" Jimmy questioned.

"Steph does." Violet replied and Kimmy nodded in agreement.

"I-I just...I haven't seen you since you were a scrawny little kid." Stephanie stammers. "I mean, you look completely different." She pointed at him, referring to the muscles, but Jimmy didn't get the hint.

"Yeah." Jimmy nods. He flips the bangs of his hair. "I got a haircut." Violet could easily tell Jimmy wasn't the smartest, but he seemed like a sweetheart in her opinion which surprised her since he was a Gibbler.

"Jimmy, what are you doing back in town?" Kimmy asked her brother.

"Well, I was driving the RV to Portland and then I thought, 'why'. You know? And then I thought, 'man, I'm hungry'. And then I thought, 'I'm gonna stop at the Tanners' and get some free food'." Jimmy explained with a smile.

"That's the Gibbler way." Kimmy smiled.

"Yeah, you really do sound like a Gibbler." Violet commented with a smile. She watched in amusement as the two siblings did the Gibbler Gallop again. She glanced at Stephanie with sympathy upon seeing the look of disbelief.

****

Violet was out in the backyard helping Stephanie, DJ, and Kimmy with preparing for the barbecue when the doorbell rang. She went with DJ and Kimmy to answer the door, smiling upon seeing Matt, and then she looked confused at seeing the dark-haired girl with him.

"Hi, DJ, Kimmy, Violet." Matt greets with a smile as he walks in. "I want you guys to meet my new girlfriend, Crystal."

"Oh, gosh, it's so nice meeting you." Crystal smiles at DJ, shaking her hand. "I've heard so many good things about you from Matt."

"Oh, and I've heard nothing about you." DJ forces a smile. "Like how young and fit you are."

"Me?" Crystal said with surprise. She smiles, pointing at DJ. "Look at you! But I could help your posture. If I could just organize your pubic bone."

"Oh, no, no. We just met. We just-" DJ pauses as Crystal fixes it. "Oh, actually, that does feel better." She admitted with a genuine smile.

"Do me! Do me!" Kimmy excitedly said. Crystal smiled and walked over to her. After she did the same thing to Kimmy, Crystal turned to Violet with a bright smile.

"You must be Violet! Matt has told me a lot about you. It's so great to meet you."

Violet raises her eyebrows with surprise when she said Matt talked about her. He didn't expect her to, but she was touched that he did. "Hopefully good things." She joked.

"Oh, of course." Crystal reassured her with a soft smile.

Violet smiles. "It's great to meet you too."

Then Steve walks in with a blonde-haired girl. "Hey, DJ. Meet my girlfriend ,CJ." He smiled.

"That's ironic." Violet chuckled.

"Oh, and this is my daughter, Rose." CJ adds, pointing at the little girl by her who Violet noticed looked to be around the same age as Max. "I hope it's okay that I brought her."

"Of course." DJ smiles. "Your name is CJ? What are the odds of that?"

CJ walks forward with a smile as Steve closes the door. "My real name is Connie Jane, but everyone calls me Ceej."

"Small world, huh, Deej?" Steve asked with a smile.

Violet glances at the others with raised eyebrows. "Okay, is anyone else getting creeped out or just me?"

"Do you mind if I give you a hug? I come from a family of huggers." CJ smiled.

"Okay, Violet, I'm starting to agree with you. This is getting weird." DJ admitted but she hugged CJ and Violet nodded in agreement.

"You know what else is weird? You guy are both doctors." Steve explains. "Only you work on, you know, hamsters and stuff and she works on real people, but..."

"Steve, stop boasting." CJ smiles shyly, hitting Steve. "Holy Rolaids."

DJ chuckles nervously. "Oh Mylanta."

"Son of a Tums, you both swear my antacids." Kimmy said with surprise.

"Yeah, okay, this is getting too creepy for me." Violet admits. She looks nervous, pointing at the door. "If there's a girl who's like me that comes in, I'm out."

"You know, maybe I have a type." Steve realized.

"You think?" DJ asked with a forced smile.

"Well, hey, as long as we're getting to know each other, Crystal teaches something called Cirque de Pilates." Matt explains. He smiles, glancing at his girlfriend with an encouraging look. "Show 'em."

"Are you sure? I mean..." Crystal looked nervous as she stepped forward.

"Yeah, do your tricks." Matt reassured her.

"Okay, it is really roomy in here." Crystal then did perfect cartwheels, heading towards the kitchen. Matt quickly went to the door, opening it for her. When Crystal got to the door, she went on a handstand and walked into the kitchen on her hands.

"Wow." Violet's eyes widen. "That's impressive." She was surprised Crystal could do all those moves. She had to admit she was jealous Crystal was so flexible and coordinated like that.

Matt smiles and shrugs. "She has a lot of energy." He then walked into the kitchen.

"Well, I'd better get in there. There's a lobster with my name on it." Steve grins. "Literally, I wrote 'Steve H' on its tail, so everybody just back off."  CJ laughed and she and Rose followed Steve into the kitchen, but CJ stopped before she got to the kitchen.

CJ turns to face DJ with a smile. "Oh. Hey, thank you for having me and Rose. I feel like we're gonna be great friends." She laughed and hugged her.

DJ smiles and hugs her back. "Sorry," CJ sighs. "I just...I love to hug, Deej."  She smiled and left the living room.

Violet exchange a glance with Kimmy as they both look at DJ worriedly. "DJ, you alright? That's a lot to unpack right there." Violet commented.

DJ sighs. "You know, I hate to say it, but I really like their girlfriends. They're so nice." She smiled.

"Well, they may be nice, but you're nicer." Kimmy comments. "And they may be pretty, but you're prettier. And they may be young, but you're..." She paused, her voice trailing off.

DJ shakes her head. "The truth is, I just wish I had a boyfriend. At least for the next couple of hours."

"Well, I might be able to help with that." Kimmy admitted.

"What?" DJ's eyes widen as Kimmy starts walking to the kitchen. "No, Kimmy, wait. What are you thinking?"

"You sure you wanna know that?" Violet teased.

"Just follow." Kimmy told DJ, grabbing her hand and taking her to the kitchen and Violet followed them.

Violet walked out to the backyard with the others. The backyard was all set up for the barbecue while Fernando was cooking the couples were chatting with each other. Violet noticed that Rose looked bored so she walked over to her with  smile. "Hey, Rose." She greets. "DJ has a son named Max and he's your age. Would you like to meet him?"

Rose perks up at hearing that and smiles. "Yeah, I'd love to."

Violet smiles and glances at DJ. "Deej, is that okay if I take her to meet Max?"

DJ smiles softly and nods. "Of course it is."

CJ puts a hand on Violet's shoulder and smiles. "Thank you for making Rose feel included."

"Not a problem." Violet reassured her. She then led Rose inside the house and to the boy's room. She noticed Jackson was on his bed on his phone and she waved at him with a smile when she locked eyes with him. She saw that Max was playing with his Legos.

"Hey, Max." Violet smiles, putting a hand on Rose's shoulder. "There's someone I want you to meet. This is Rose, CJ's daughter. CJ is Steve's new girlfriend."

Max looks up from his Legos, staring at Rose in awe and he drops a block he held. "Wow, you're beautiful."

Rose giggles and smiles shyly. "Oh, thank you. And you're handsome. I see you have Legos, I love Legos." She admitted excitedly.

Max's eyes lit up. "You wanna play with me?"

"I'd be delighted to." Rose replied excitedly and sat down on the floor by him.

"Alright," Violet smiles at the two, thinking they're cute. "I'll leave you two to hang out."

"Okay, I'm out." Jackson announces, getting off his bed and putting his phone in his pocket. He didn't want to be in his room now that Max had a friend over. "Violet," He glances at Violet with a smile. "You wanna hang out until we have to go to the barbecue thing?"

"Obviously." Violet responded in a 'duh' tone, earning a chuckle and a playful eye roll from him as they walk out of the room.

****

Since Jackson wanted to impress Lola somehow, he asked Violet for help but she didn't help much. She told him that he should just be himself and if Lola didn't like him then she wasn't the one. Jackson, however, didn't believe her and kept trying to think of ways to impress Lola on his own. So now Violet walked outside with Ramona to join the others.

"Hey guys," Ramona smiles. "What did we miss?"

"Your uncle hooked up with your mom's best friend," Fernando replies to his daughter. "Then left her for her sister, although to be fair DJ never told him she had a baby."

"That all happened within, like, an hour?" Violet asks with surprise, her eyes widening. She glances at Ramona. "Wow, we missed a lot Mona."

"We sure did, Vivi." Ramona agreed with a nod.

"Hey, Lola!" Everyone looked up at the window outside of Jackson's and Max's room to see Jackson standing on the ledge of the window. He was holding a rope with one hand and had a helmet on.

Violet grimaces. "Jackson, don't do something stupid." She muttered to herself worriedly.

"Here comes Action Jackson!" Jackson shouts and then he jumps, yelling like Tarzan does in the movie as he swung over the group, who all ducked. "Oh, oh, no!" He lost his grip and then suddenly fell in the neighbor's pool as he screamed.

"And he did something stupid." Violet sighed. She wasn't surprised at all he did that. She just wished he didn't because she was worried he got hurt.

"I mean, are we really that surprised?" Ramona chuckled.

Violet nods in agreement and chuckles. "Good point."

"Don't worry, Lola. I'm okay." Jackson called out.

"Lola left ten minutes ago." Ramona told him.

Jackson leans over the fence, now soaking wet from falling in the pool. "Yeah. It's probably for the best."

****

Soon enough the couples and Rose went home and the barbecue was over. When the group saw that Tommy started walking on his own, they knew they had to let DJ find out. So they all went up stairs, letting Tommy walk into Jackson's and Max's room on his own. DJ had been talking with Max, cheering him up since he was upset about all the bad things happening in the world. And he was also sad that Rose had to leave.

"Tommy! You did it! Yes!" DJ cheered, picking her son up with a big smile.

"Hey!" Stephanie greeted with a smile as she walked into the room, followed by Violet, Jackson, Ramona, Kimmy, and Fernando. Everyone else greeted DJ and all smiled and clapped for Tommy walking on his own.

"We wanted you to see this." Stephanie told her sister.

DJ looks down at Max with a smile. "Did you see that, Max? No matter how many times Tommy fell, he never gave up. That right there is the human spirit. So we can't give up either. We have to keep searching for ways to stop climate change and-and achieve world peace and plot my revenge against Matt and Steve," Violet snickers at that comment, looking at DJ with an amused smile. "And end poverty." DJ continued with a smile.

"And have universal healthcare and fair elections." Max added.

Jackson nods. "And have a relationship with Lola."

"And finally focus on my music career." Stephanie smiled.

"Same for me, Steph." Violet agrees with a smile. "I want to try and focus on my music more often."

"And become a really awesome dancer." Ramona grinned.

Kimmy glances at Fernando with a soft smile, wrapping her arm around his shoulders. "And figure things out wtih Fernando."

Fernando smiles softly at her, wrapping an arm around her waist. "And find a nice throw rug that pulls my new room together."

Max stares at him. "You don't officially live here."

Fernando grins at him. "You know you love me." Max smiles widely in response. Fernando looks at the group with a smile. "Everybody, group hug." Everyone smiled and got in a group hug.

A/N decided to change it up so rose was introduced in this episode !! i think it made more sense if she was introduced in this episode, i didnt understand why rose wasnt with cj in this episode in the first place.
