In the words of High School Musical 2 'Summertime is finally here'!

It's the beginning of summer. First day of summer is finally here. Violet was beyond excited, the first day of summer meant no homework, no stressing over tests and projects. Just relaxation and fun. She was so excited to spend the summer with Jackson as boyfriend and girlfriend. They had the whole summer planned already. Movie marathons, dates, amusement parks, etc.

It was morning and for once she didn't have to rush to get ready for school. She stretched in bed, savoring the thought of lazy mornings and carefree days ahead. The sunlight streaming through her window felt like a promise of good times to come. Violet quickly got dressed, eager to start the day, and headed downstairs to get some breakfast. She checked her phone as she got downstairs, not surprised to see a text from her parents wishing her a happy New Year and a text from her parents. There's that one text that comes almost every holiday. She rolled her eyes and didn't bother to reply, but the annoyance soon faded and a smile took its place.

Jackson was waiting for her in the living room with a smile, and she rushed over to give him a hug. He chuckled, his arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her close. He buried his face in her hair, breathing in the sweet scent of her shampoo. She smiled, enjoying the feel of his arms around her. After a moment, they broke apart, and Violet moved to the kitchen stove she wanted to get some breakfast. Jackson followed behind her, leaning against the kitchen island.

"So, we might have to reschedule some of the things we planned for the summer." Jackson starts with a grimace. "Mom is making me go to summer school."

"That explains the backpack and lunch box." Violet murmurs, her gaze flickering over to where he left the two items by the door. "How did you even get in here, by the way?"

"I have a spare key." Jackson reminds her, and Violet nods, remembering that. "But I was hoping you could help me out."

"And how could I do that?" Violet inquired, curious as she got the Lucky Charm box from the pantry and then reached into the fridge for milk.

"Well, I was hoping you could be convince my mom I don't need summer school." Jackson replied, a sheepish expression crossing his face.

Violet glances over her shoulder at him and raises an eyebrow. "How exactly would I do that?"

"Just come with me to the house and be your charming, sweet, self." Jackson grinned.

"Jax, it's okay you're going to summer school. I think that's great." Violet reassures him. "It could help you get your grades up and you won't fall behind."

"I know, but I was really looking forward to spending the summer with you." Jackson frowned, a disappointed look on his face.

Violet set the milk down and closes the fridge before turning to him. She cups his face in her hands, stroking his cheek with her thumb. She gazes into his eyes, a soft smile tugging at her lips. "We'll still get to spend the summer together. Just because you're going to summer school, doesn't mean we can't still hang out. We'll just have to be a little more creative."

Jackson lets out a sigh and nods. "You're right. It's just gonna suck being stuck in school during summer. I was really looking forward to hanging out with you." He mumbled, leaning into her touch and giving her a sad smile.

"Hey, we'll make it work. I promise." Violet smiles at him, leaning forward to kiss his cheek. "I'll be with you every step of the way."

"Thanks, Vi." Jackson grins, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. "You have no idea how much that means to me."

"You're welcome, Jax." Violet smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. They stayed like that for a moment, basking in each other's presence. After a moment, Violet pulled away and turned back to the stove, finishing up her cereal.

"Okay, I'll see you later, Vi." Jackson says. "Try not to have too much fun without me." He kissed her cheek and walked to the door to grab his things.

As Jackson grabbed his backpack and lunchbox, he turns to flash Violet one last smile. "I'll text you during lunch, okay?"

"Of course! Good luck, you'll do great." Violet reassured him with a playful wink.

With that, Jackson waved and left the house, leaving Violet standing in the kitchen, a fond smile on her face. She felt lucky to have someone like Jackson who cared so much about her, and even though their summer plans would have to adjust, she was determined to make the best of it. Finishing her cereal, Violet took a deep breath, thinking about how she could surprise Jackson and keep their summer fun, despite his extra schoolwork. She could plan shorter day trips or set up movie nights for when he got out of class. Her mind buzzed with ideas, and the thought of still being able to spend time together, even in a new way, made her smile.

The beginning of summer might not have been exactly what she expected, but with Jackson by her side, she knew it would still be special. After all, life was about embracing change and finding joy in the unexpected.

Violet had spent the day working on a new song and playing some video games. But the moment she heard the front door open, she stopped what she was doing and rushed downstairs. She wanted to greet her boyfriend and see how his first day of summer school was. She grimaced and immediately realized how it was when she saw him.

"Something seems different about you." She couldn't help but tease, heading over to him as he closed the door, glancing at her with a glare.

"Funny." He replies, a sarcastic tone in his voice. "No wait, it's not funny at all. I can't get this off, I already tried. And apparently Rocki drew on my back too." He grumbled.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, but really it's not that bad." Violet tries to reassure him, stifling a giggle while she approached him. Drawn in marker on his face was to make it looked like he had kitten whiskers and a cute little nose. It was hard for Violet to keep a straight face, but she knew laughing too much would only frustrate Jackson more. She couldn't help it though. "Aw, you look adorable!"

"Vi." Jackson sighed.

"What?" Violet asked, a playful grin on her face."

"Okay, I'm leaving and hiding out in my room." Jackson mutters, turning to leave, but was startled when Violet suddenly jumped on his back to stop him. He stumbles forward, nearly losing his balance. "What are you doing?" He still held onto her ankles so she wouldn't fall despite being upset and now confused.

"I'm holding you hostage until you stay. Don't leave, I'm sorry, I was just teasing you." Violet pouts, hugging him from behind and resting her chin on his shoulder. "Come on, let's get you cleaned up. I'm sure there is some way to remove the marker."

"It won't wash off." Jackson mumbled.

"I'm sure if we look, we can find something that will." Violet reassured him.

Jackson let out a sigh, nodding his head. He glances back at her. "Fine, but then can we have ice cream?"

"Of course, anything you want." Violet grins, kissing his cheek. "But I still think you look adorable." She laughed softly, unable to resist one last playful comment.

"Vi." Jackson groaned, rolling his eyes, though he was smiling and couldn't help but laugh a bit too.

They headed upstairs, Jackson giving her a piggy back ride to the hallway bathroom upstairs. Violet had her arms wrapped around his shoulders and rested her head gently on his back. She smiled as Jackson carried her, the tension from earlier already beginning to melt away. Once they reached the bathroom, Jackson set her down, and they both started searching for something that could remove the marker.

Violet opens the cabinet, rummaging through the various bottles and wipes. "How about this makeup remover?" She asked, holding up a bottle.

Jackson eyes it skeptically but shrugged. "It's worth a shot."

Violet sat on the counter, pulling him over to stand between her legs and carefully applied the makeup remover to the marker stains on Jackson's face. Jackson stood patiently as Violet worked, a mix of frustration and amusement still lingering in his expression.

"Let's see if this does the trick." Violet said with a hopeful smile. She gently wiped at the marks, her movements tender and precise. She carefully cleaned the stubborn marker away, her brow furrowed in concentration. Her free hand reached up to grip his chin firmly but gently when he started to squirm. "Hold still for a bit, babe." She murmured, trying to keep him still. Jackson rolled his eyes playfully but complied, his expression softening as he looked at her.

Jackson stood between her legs, his hands resting lightly on her knees as she continued to clean his face. Violet's gentle touch and focused attention helped ease his frustration, and he found himself smiling despite the situation. Her touch was gentle and soothing, and her closeness helped him relax. The tension began to melt away, and the stress from his day slowly faded. She always seemed to have that effect on him, no matter what the situation was. He was so grateful to have her in his life, and he knew that he would never get tired of her.

"Hmm, might need to try something else." She mutters, grimacing when she saw that the marker wasn't coming off as easily as she had hoped. She pushed him back so she can climb off the counter and search for something else. She searched through the bathroom drawers and cabinets, pulling out a few more items that might be helpful. As she rummaged, she found a bottle of rubbing alcohol. She turned to Jackson with a hopeful expression. "How about this? It's stronger and might do the trick."

Jackson looks at her with a mix of hope and skepticism. "It's worth a try."

Violet climbs back on the counter and pulls him back to stand between her legs. She begins dabbing the rubbing alcohol on the marker stains, and soon, the stubborn markings begin to fade away. Violet smiles triumphantly as the stains disappear, leaving behind fresh, smooth skin. "Eureka! I told you we'd find a solution."

Jackson chuckles, a soft smile on his face as he watches her. "Thanks, Vi." He said, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to her lips. His hands settled on her hips as he kissed her, his touch warm and comforting. Violet kissed him back, her arms wrapping around his neck and pulling him closer. She scooted closer to him, now sitting on the edge of the counter and enjoying the closeness. The kiss was sweet and reassuring, and as they broke apart, Violet looked up at Jackson with a loving smile.

"I'm glad we managed to get that off," Violet said, her eyes twinkling. "You look like your handsome self again."

Jackson grins, his heart fluttering and face turning red as he reached up to brush a stray lock of hair back behind her ear. "I should've known you'd find a way to fix it. You're always so resourceful."

Violet laughs softly, her cheeks warming at his compliment. "It's just one of the many perks of having me around. Now, how about that ice cream?"

"Sounds perfect, babe." Jackson agreed, stepping back and offering her a hand to help her down from the counter. As they headed out of the bathroom, Violet grabbed a small tub of ice cream from the freezer and two spoons, ready to enjoy their treat together.

They settled on the couch, sharing the ice cream and reminiscing about their plans for the summer. Despite the unexpected start, they were determined to make the most of their time together. They laughed and joked, savoring the sweetness of the ice cream and the warmth of each other's company. By the end of the night, all traces of Jackson's frustration were long forgotten.

Summer might not have started the way they planned, but as they spent the rest of the night together, they knew that no matter what came their way, they would always have each other to lean on.
