Being Six

Being six is exciting,

No day is ever mundane.

If things go wrong, I'm not an adult

So I'm not the one to blame.

I can go mad on my scooter,

Up, down and round and about.

Being six means I have lots of energy,

I never shall get worn out!

We can sing a song in Spanish,

My sister Sammy and me.

We'll sing with all our school classes

At our special school 'Afternoon Tea.'

'Heads, Shoulder, Knees and Toes'

Is a funny little song,

And WE can sing it in Spanish!

Do you want to sing along?

I can hide in the cupboard from Nanny.

I can hear her going mad!

But I don't want to go home yet,

Such a lovely time I've had.

I can jump in muddy puddles,

In fact, it gives me such JOY.

I'm a pretty little girl, with long hair,

But how I wish I was a BOY!

After school, I play on the monkey bars.

I hang upside down from my toes.

How Nanny doesn't get a heart attack,

Heaven only knows!

I am fearless, happy, affectionate

And always full of tricks.

My name is Mary Mabel

And I love being six!

March 2018

This is a poem about my grand daughter (s).  I have

not used their real names.  And she really does want

to be a boy.  We asked her why and she replied

"Because they are better."
