Hikaru (POV)
Captain- Maintain your distance! All squads remain alert! It can strike at any time! Artillery Crew! Get that cannon reloaded!
Armin- I know I heard them fire their cannon at us, and then......Then there was a tremendous crash and a blast of heat.And apparently we're now in the innards of a giant skeleton and an even bigger spinal cord with ribs.
Mikasa- Eren and Daisuke did this for us Armin. That's all we need to understand right now.
Daisuke and Eren come rushing to our side.
Eren- Mikasa! Armin! Hikaru!
Armin- Daisuke. Armin. How'd you-
Daisuke- No time to explain but we need to get out from underneath these bones. They're already starting to vaporize.
Eren- It's hard to tell if they're watching and waiting, or just totally dazed. I suppose it doesn't really matter much either way. I'm sure once the smoke clears, they'll resume their attack. After seeing this, I think we've blown any hope of reasoning with them. (Holds key) The cellar.
Daisuke- So you're starting to remember too huh? Your house in Shiganshina. Grisha said we have to go back there and that everything hinged on it. It's why he gave us the power to do what we're able to do now. Make it to the cellar, we unlock the secret of the Titans.
Eren- Why did he keep this stuff secret? How many thousands of scouts have already died because my father didn't share his information? It could be the last chance humanity has! And the answer's been hidden away under our house the entire time? Is he insane? Damn him. Where have you been these last five years dad?
Mikasa- Eren, we have other business to deal with.
Eren-......Right.
The skeleton parts slowly begin to crack and break. We huddle up to go over our next move.
Eren- Listen, I'm getting out of here.
Armin- Where and how?
Eren- Anywhere but here. Then I head over the wall and straight to Shiganshina. But'll have to become a Titan again.
Armin- You can transform at will?
Eren- To be honest, I don't how I'm doing it Armin. Pretty sure Daisuke can say the same thing. We just know that we can. It's hard to put into words but it's like reflexive. In that moment, my mind subconsciously focused on stopping that cannonball.
Daisuke- I wanted to protect you guys. That's why the skeletons are already decaying as we speak. It only had enough endurance to meet that task. Next time it'll be different. I'll be that eighteen meter high Titan like I was before.
MH- Daisuke.
Daisuke- Huh?
Hikaru- Your nose it's....
Blood trickles out of my nose.
Hikaru- Both of your breathing is erratic and you look super pale. Almost like ghosts. You need doctors. You're sick.
Eren- As it stands, our health isn't irrelevant.
Daisuke- You guys need to get out of here alive. The only way to do that is stop protection me and Eren. All we've done is brought nothing but trouble anyway. From this moment on, it's only Eren and myself.
Armin- Y-You're kidding but-
Mikasa- Not happening Daisuke. I'm coming with you.
Hikaru- Same here.
Daisuke- Hell no.
Mikasa- I plan to follow you whether you give me permission or not. I promised myself that I would never leave your side for the rest of time. That is something I am damn sure I'm going to keep.
Daisuke- Damn it Mikasa just stop it. We're fine on our own. Eren isn't your little brother to watch over and I ain't some toddler you have to babysit!
SMACK
My left cheek is left stinging and my I'm wide eyed. I feel the spot where Mikasa just slapped me. I look back to her and tears threaten to fall from her eyes.
Mikasa-.........I can't.......I can't.........not again......
Daisuke- Mikasa I-
Hikaru- Let her speak brother. She needs this.
Mikasa-........I'm not strong enough.........I found out you died and my world shattered.......I was sad and angry.........You broke your promise Daisuke! Back at HQ before all of this, you gave me your necklace and promised to never leave me alone in this world. And what did you do?!
The reality hits me like a freight train and look away from her in shame.
Mikasa- No you look at me Daisuke!
I slowly raise my head back to to meet her eyes.
Mikasa- And now in this situation, you're doing the exact same thing again. You're breaking your promise again..........I was scared of losing you beforehand but now, I'm even more scared. Scared of losing the one person that means more to me than life itself. Listen to these words well and listen good. I lost you once. Im not losing you again.
