Daisuke (POV)
I make it back to the boys cabin to see Eren trying to get people to help him understand the ODM gear. Right now him and Armin are talking to Reiner and Bertholdt. I go to them and listen in.
Reiner and Bertholdt

Eren- Oh come on. I heard from everyone you're both really good at it. Bertholdt? Reiner?
Reiner- Sorry kid but there isn't any special trick Yo just hanging there. Not to be harsh but if it's advice you want, I'm not really your guy.
Eren- (sigh) Alright.
Armin- Lets just hope it comes to you tomorrow.
Bertholdt- Hold on, aren't the two of you originally from Shiganshina?
Daisuke- (comes in) Three. My name is Daisuke and yes we were at Shiganshina.
Bertholdt- Okay then you should know first hand how terrifying they are. Why on earth would you want to be soldiers?
Armin- I didn't see the things Eren and Daisuke did. They saw their bloodlust firsthand before anyone realized how bad it really was. And I, I knew I couldn't sit idly by as the Royal Government forced the citizenry into the field territorial retrieval operation
Bertholdt- I see.
Armin- Where are you two from?
Bertholdt- Oh Reiner and I? We were from a mountain village just southeast of Wall Maria.
Armin- Then that means......
Bertholdt- Yeah. Unlike the most prosperous river towns, our village didn't receive word right away. The titans were on us before we even knew what was going on. It happened at dawn. All the livestock were so restless. Soon after we heard these strange rumblings that just became louder and louder. Eventually I realized those rumblings were the sound of death getting closer. I-I looked out my window and.......well you can probably imagine the rest. Everything was such a blur after that. I think we all just panicked.
Reiner- Hey, you're just getting yourself worked up again.
Bertholdt- Sorry. Basically what I've been trying to say is this. The five of us aren't like the rest of....of them.
He registers to the rest of the boys here.
All five of us get up and sneak out and head into the woods.
Bertholdt- Most of them are just here for show. To do just what society expects. In a world where you're labeled a coward if you chooses field work by the time you turn twelve propriety demands our service. With that said, I'm really no different from the others. I joined the ranks hoping I'm assigned to the Military Police. Tucked away in the interior. If that doesn't work out, I'll give up entirely. I don't really have the fortitude for anything else.
Armin- There's no shame in caring about your life Bertholdt. We all do.
Reiner-........Do we? I'm going to return to the home that was taken away from me. That's all I care about now. I will do it. No matter what.
Bertholdt- What about you two? Eren Daisuke?
Eren- Why did we join?
Daisuke-.......We decided we have to kill them. We won't stop till every god damn titan is killed and rotting away.
Eren- Dead. Every last one.
Reiner- You saw what those monsters are capable of and yet you still want to take them on?
Daisuke- Well hell yeah.
Eren- Damn right.......It's just, after screwing up the training, I don't know if I'm cut out to be a soldier.
We make it to the top of a rocky hill. The clouds part and it lights up the valley below.

Reiner- We'll take it from step one. Belt adjustment. By tomorrow you'll be an expert. I know you got what it takes. I see it in you. Am I wrong here?
Eren- No. I won't fail. Thank you Reiner. Thank you.
Daisuke- Yeah thank you a bunch. This place wouldn't be the same with this dumbass around.
We keep enjoying the view until we decide to head back for camp and finish Eren's ODM training.
