Love was an odd thing to feel. Sometimes it made you confused and other times it gave you feelings with no real answer as to why. At the most, feeling love for someone was an exhilarating yet terrifying experience. You're always faced with two choices and one of these choices would be true. Would they say yes or would they say no? Would you get rejected or accepted? On a negative note, some people get blinded by love, never seeing the full picture because they're so in love that they don't seem to care what happens to their own body anymore. In other people, love made then reckless enough to do anything risky, they're sure enough that they won't get caught, that they'll survive until they grow old together and in some cases, they do while in others, they don't.

James Potter didn't know what Love actually was until he turned thirteen. He had always been chasing after Lily Evans, had always believed that she was his one true love even with the constant rejection that she seemed to enjoy giving him. The black haired Gryffindor was more than willing to try over and over in the course of two years with each one ending in utter failure, but his third year was a bit too much.

He had gone on another adventure with the other Marauders as usual, a plan formulating in his head to get Lily Evans to say yes to his dating proposal while the trio of Sirius, Remus, and Peter trailed behind him, Sirius constantly reminding the group of what they had to avoid, Remus reminding them of how it would work if they ever forgot, and Peter whispering about whatever secret passage he found that they could fit in, mumbling about distraction methods as they followed after their ringleader, James.

The adventure was thrilling, to say the least, but James could still remember all the near accidents. Such accidents include Sirius bumping into a bush and tripping over his own two feet, Peter accidentally stepping on Sirius's hand who then let out a shout that James was surprised they hadn't been caught yet and then came Remus. No matter how much the brown-haired werewolf tried to be as cautious as possible as he trekked with James through the grass near the Black Lake, he still managed to end up tripping over himself, courtesy of the darkness, and toppling into his friend who in turn slipped over the grass and fell into the Black Lake.

Of course. It wasn't such a deep fall since his legs were still on shore but as he sat up shaking his head to and fro and silently complaining about how he was gonna smell like salt water and squid tomorrow, Remus couldn't help but start laughing. It wasn't the fact that they fell but more so the fact that James took on to complaining about he was going to smell and not reprimanding him for such a stupid mistake. James didn't know why nor did he know how but hearing Remus laugh to himself made his heart race, his head buzz, and his stomach to flutter with thousands of butterflies.

At first, James rubbed the reaction off and continued on his scheme until he became sidetracked by Remus's talking. The way the brown-haired Gryffindor gestured with his hands, how his hair would just messily fall in front of his eyes before he blew it away and continued his explanation, and even how his nose scrunched up when he thought about a new idea was all too cute for James not to get sidetracked.

As the days went by, James's feelings for Lily slowly converted into one of sibling love, he never saw himself marrying her when they grew old, he never saw himself living together with her in their own little house, all he saw was her being a sister to him, a little sister who probably hung out with the wrong crowd. Instead, those feelings of 'true love' seemed to splash on to the only person James was afraid to even look in the eye.

Remus Lupin was a lot of things. He was kind, brave, selfless and rather cute if James had a say in it but he was also his friend, he was also a werewolf. One of the creatures that the ministry had put on death row, a creature that came out during the full moon to terrorize and murder innocent people for fun. Of course, James never did see that side of him, he chose not to ever since they met on the train in first year for the first time. Remus was not a blood thirsty murderer, he wasn't a creature who hunted precious animals and humans to devour. Remus Lupin was a human, a human that James found himself head over heels for.

Of course, the chaser for Gryffindor wanted nothing more than to keep his feelings a secret, keep it hidden and act as if he was still pining after lily even when he found it disgusting to chase after a girl who he thought of as his own sister. There were other things that James couldn't quite understand yet either-Were boys suppose to love boys? He had never really seen two boys together, possibly only once in the village that one kid proclaimed he would live happily ever after with another boy but James had dismissed it as some silly game.

There was more questions buzzing in his mind than there were enough answers for all of them—Were his parents going to be happy? He never had the topic come up but they were kind enough when he chased after Lily, maybe breaking it down to chasing after Remus wouldn't be so hard. Was Remus even going to accept it? He never knew the preferences of the other boys, he didn't feel it was needed to know, after all- they were friends who pranked anyone they walked passed, who cared about love?

So, James opted to keep it hidden, he forced his feelings down and played the role of the lovesick fool whenever Lily walked by. It was going well, excellent even, until fifth year climbs up and James's feelings have grown into more than just a little Crush, it had manifested into love. With the year already filled with harrowing adventures, secret relationships and more feelings than he can fully grasp, James has no choice but to spit out his feelings and hope for the best.

He just hopes that he isn't found out before that happens.
