"Virgil, why do you keep doing this?!"

"Roman, I'm sorry... It was an accident..."

"ACCIDENT?! YOU DO THIS NEARLY EVERYDAY!"

"I'M SORRY!"

"SORRY DOESN'T CUT IT ANYMORE! DON'T YOU SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO THOMAS?!"

"UGH! YOU NEVER LIKE ANYTHING I DO! OR DO YOU JUST NOT LIKE ME?!"

That phrase stunned the older trait into silence. The surprise and concern plastered itself onto his face, for the entire world to see. He cared for the younger so much, but it never seemed to appropriate. They are opposites, after all.

"Sorry I don't treat you like a god. Is that what you want me to do?"

Virgil was... Singing...? Roman had never heard his singing voice, but had always assumed it was good, considering he was one of Thomas' traits. Roman just didn't expect it to be as amazing as it actually was.

"Sorry I don't teach you like you're perfect, like all your little loyal subjects do!"

Virgil swings his arms out to gesture to the mind outside of his bedroom, where the argument was taking place.

"Sorry I'm not made of sugar. Am I not sweet enough for you? Is that why you always avoid me? I must be such an inconvenience to you!"

He turns away, trying to hide his shaking shoulders as tears threaten to fall from his eyes. He can't show any weakness. Not now.

"Well, I'm just your problem! I'm just your problem! It's like I'm not even a person, am I? I'm just your problem!"

Roman reaches his hand out to comfort the anxious trait, but Virgil pulls away, stalking towards his bedroom door to escape the argument.

"I shouldn't have to justify what I do. I shouldn't have to prove anything to you. I'm sorry that I exist. I forgot what landed me on your blacklist, but I shouldn't have to be the one that makes up with you."

Virgil turns his back towards the older trait, a pitiful expression etched into his face, misty eyes shining in the artificial light of his bedroom lights.

"So, why do I want to? Why do I want to?!"

He shakes his head, erasing any emotion and replacing it with his normal angry, bitter facade.

"I'm just your problem, I know. I'm just your problem, yeah."

Silence reigns over the two as they stared at each other. Roman opened his mouth to speak, but before he could utter a word, Virgil turns and storms out of the room, ignoring the older's calls. Soon, he reaches the imagination on the edge of the mind. He pulls his hood over his head and crouches down beside his favorite place in the imagination, a shining river running through a beautiful, green meadow. The soft looks of the wildlife around him calmed him a bit, but not enough. The tears finally fall as he begins to softly sing again.

"I'm just your problem... I'm just your problem... It's like I'm not even a person, am I...? I'm just your problem... So why do I want to...? Why do I want to make up with you?! It's all so pointless because I'm just your problem."

His voice cracks on the last note as he wipes his cheeks. He was just a problem that needed to be solved. Maybe he should just find his solution himself. Then Thomas and the others won't have to deal with him anymore. The tears fell faster, draining his energy. Eventually, he passed out, falling into a dreamless slumber, not hearing the voices calling his name and begging him to come home.

I wrote this before 'Accepting Anxiety' and I just got the courage to post it now. Obviously, I edited it because it says 'Virgil', but I still wanted to publish this.
