That black Porsche had become familiar in our neighborhood, it was no longer strange to see such a lavish car without monograms stickers stuck to the back of the windows parked in our driveway, for some it had come too comfortable.

"Everything's  good?" Miss. Pattie asked, from the lawn opposite ours, she brushed passed the bush and barely making her way over to me. I threw my purse over my shoulder and rested on my right leg.

"Taking it one day at a time, how are you?" Miss. Pattie stucked her teeth that were barely there against the ones that she had ordered just few weeks ago and sighed, she shook her head in answer that something could be off - I glanced over at the front door when Miles appeared behind me.

"Handsome boy," Miss. Pattie said before disappearing between the bushes, the dry leaves crunching under her feet to signal that she had made into onto her yard.

Miles had made it his business to show up in our yard unexpectedly when I wasn't home,I didn't mind, but sometimes it was so random that I'd hadn't even brushed my hair or cleaned my eyes. I'd catch mom and him sitting at the kitchen table, laughing and for a second I thought she had forgot about the past months - but it was mom, she didn't forget.

We stood in silence in the driveway just enjoying eachothers company, the breeze was light so I wasn't exactly sure what was making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up because it could easily have been the fact that this guy was again standing next to me. In his flesh, and me in mine. His breathes were easy, but I was secretly  checking to see if he was still breathing as if he was a newborn baby sleeping next to me. I so badly wanted to rest my hand onto his chest to be certain that his heart was indeed beating - lifting slightly and then falling just like mine, but when he'd raise his heavy hands to acknowledge the people blowing as they passed the house, that was enough, for now.

It wasn't until he caught me  staring  at him that he pulled me into his chest and I could relax. He smelled of beauty and sweat, and it was weirdly attractive. In retrospect, this wasn't his usual smell, but even so I was very fond of it.

I missed how much I loved being next to him, him slightly adjusting so we coud stand comfortably together - existing in a single spot.

When did love with him become so harmonizing with the outside world? When was the last time that I actually stood in the driveway of the house, or outside, and felt so undeniably great? So, beautifully pleased with the noise from the street cars and law mowers or buzzing of the bees and aggravation of the knats. When did the world grow so small around me while I was steadily in the center, not panicking?

I promise I could have stayed in that place forever.
