Nora shot up from her seat as the bell rang, gathering her things and sprinting out. Thursdays were favorite, even though 35% of America's citizens said that Saturday was the best. But Nora thought Thursdays were interesting. They were unpredictable.

Nora made her way to the library with all her books. She always stayed after school to finish her homework, so often that she and the librarian had become acquaintances. Although Mr. Tarby seemed grumpy, he was really a softie at heart.

Nora burst through the library doors and headed for the corner of the library. It was her favorite section. It had pictures of fantasy worlds and rainforest creatures, and origami cranes were skillfully hung from the walls so it seemed as if they were flying. Whoever had folded them, she envied their craft.

As Nora entered the little nook at the corner, she stopped short before she set her books down on her favorite mahogany table at the very corner, closest to the window. Her lips turned down as she tilted her head at the boy who'd taken her spot.

"Excuse me," she started. "I think you're in my seat." Her words had no effect on this boy, who had headphones in and was listening to music "Hello?" she asked, louder this time. The boy looked up, genuinely surprised, and took off his headphones. His hair, the same shade as the table, brushed his eye and he blew it away, making Nora heart rate increase.

          "What?" he replied irritably.

"I said, you're in my seat. If you could move, that would be great." The boy's eyes turned amused.

"Who said this was your seat? I thought the library was a public place."

Nora opened her mouth, ready to retort something snarky, but no words came out of her mouth. She forgot her witty arguments as she took in his teal eyes, flecked with silver. She forgot herself when he smirked at her and ran his hand through his unruly hair.

"There are a bunch of chairs right here. You're welcome to take a seat." The boy smiled, gesturing to the empty chairs, and put his headphones on again as Nora's frown deepened.

          She didn't like this kid.

With hesitant movements, she sat down in the other chair across from him at the mahogany table.
