"Personality readings for one diamond!"

Red ignored the calls of most merchants peddling their wares on the sides of the road, but at this one she paused. It wasn't like her to participate in something as superficial as this, but...

She needed to know. Even if there was only a small chance it would be truthful, she needed to know. Who am I?

Walking over to the merchant, she slipped a diamond from her red and black military uniform and held it out. The man smiled at her and took the diamond. He wavered a little when he caught sight of her eyes, which glowed red, hence her nickname.

"Not entirely human, are you?"

"No more than anyone else here," she replied, somewhat distracted. The merchant didn't seem to mind - he just moved some things around on his cart to get them in order.

"The personality read, then?" He asked. Red nodded.

"You are fiercely independent, and able to accomplish anything you put their mind to. You absolutely loathe giving up and backing down and will never do it of your own volition. You are perfectly suited to being on your own. You are not a social butterfly like some other people, and you actually prefer solitude."

With every word, Red began to lose faith in the merchant's ability. It seemed like he was just making observations according to her behavior in the time he had just seen her. She was preparing to leave when his next statement stopped her.

"That way there is no one around you whom you could accidentally hurt, and no issues as to who controls what, as you are somewhat manipulative and like to be in control. Your personality is a series of extremes, as you are often downright moody for no apparent reason."

Perhaps it was the truth in his words, or the absolute surety with which he said them, but Red stayed still.
