Akutagawa ended up in the emergency room for a few days. You barely left his side the whole time. Even when he got visitors, you kept your chin on his bed. Due to you not leaving, Akutagawa didn't get many people in there.

Gin came and comforted you, and see his progress.

Chuuya came to yell at you.

Mori and Elise also came to check on his process. (They even got him a small rose!)

But Higuchi came the most. She would look at him and tell him what's happened as if he could hear her. She glared at you a couple of times and even tried to hold his hand a few times.

You never spoke. You never moved. You barely blinked. There was no excuse to why you couldn't save him.

You didn't just sit there and mope. You still ate and did all that stuff. When the doctors had to cut him and check for infection, you licked the cut and healed it for him. You knew he'd be yelling for you to piss off but you stayed regardless.

You come back into Akutagawa's room from the bathroom. You look up and see him gone. You sniff the air. When you catch an unfamiliar scent, you follow it.

It was late at night so it was hard to see. You manage to find the warehouse where they're keeping him. You slip by the guards into the back room. How no one saw you was a miracle, but they didn't.

Akutagawa was in the room, on a stretcher, surrounded by his medical equipment. You kneel down next to him, on the side facing the door, and put your chin on his stretcher. His eyes slowly flutter open and he looks at you.

His mask prevents him from talking. "Get some rest. I'll get you outta here, sweetie." You pet his dark hair and he closes his eyes again.

You look at the stuff holding him up. Now how do I...? You look underneath the stretcher for clues but find none.
Even if I figured it out, I can't carry all of his stuff at once. Should I call Gin?

At that wondering moment, Higuchi ran into the room. "Senpai!"

You stare protectively as Akutagawa's eyes flutter open and Higuchi pulls out a white cloth. She tries to clean his face but he stops her.

"Higuchi. I'm sorry."

There was a moment of silence until she said, "it's my job."

The Black Lizard followed Higuchi into the room. You keep a close silent eye on them as they picked up the stretcher and load it into a truck, along with Akutagawa's medical stuff.

You sit in the back with him. He tried to get up at least five times and you forced him to lay down.

"I've already told you, you need a break." You'd say.

He'd give you a smug look but didn't argue.

Higuchi was staring at him the whole time. As if she was waiting for you to make a mistake.

This didn't surprise you, Higuchi and you had a silent feud going on. Since Akutagawa trusted you with his life, you could tell him anything Higuchi did wrong and he would scold her. She also had an advantage. She spends more time with him, as his partner should, and she could make you so mad, you would try to hurt her and get in trouble with Akutagawa. The whole thing was ridiculous in your opinion, but like you'd let Higuchi win.

"Why didn't you take out all of the people guarding him?" Higuchi asked. "How did you even get past them?"
You ignored her and stared intently at Akutagawa. He was awake and trying to give you a look that said, "piss off!" Obviously you ignored his efforts. You set your chin beside his forearm and he patted your messy hair and rested his hand on you.

Higuchi looked shocked and confused. "Senpai...why are you so gentle with Y/N?"

He ignored her. For the whole ride home, you rested next to him. Once you opened your eyes to give Higuchi a mocking look. She gave you a jealous look and you settled your eyes once more.

When you arrived at the Mafia, the doctor checked on Akutagawa's progress and deemed him ready for battle again.
He was taking the bandages off of his arms when you walked in.

"So your good to go?" You confirm, sitting down.

He nodded and gestured to a stray bandage on his back which you undo for him.

"So I guess your going back on your missions? And your gonna leave me in the dark about them again?"

He shook his head slowly as his bandages slipped off reviling his pale chest. You turn in your seat and blush. Akutagawa pulled a curtain between both of you to make it less awkward.

"I want you to come with me to all of my missions."

"Really!?" You stood in surprise. "What about Higuchi?"

"She's going to have to deal with it or quit."

You smile with pride. "Soooo I'm also gonna have to deal with her...and work with her...and look at her..." Your prideful smile turned into a disgusted look.

"So your going to have to deal with it, or refuse my offer." He point out.

"I'll accept! Obviously! But do I really have to deal with her?"

"Of course."

"Crap." You pout with a smug look on your face.

He pulled back the curtain and you see him slipping on his coat. "Do you need to go to my house for dinner? Gin wants to have a small three person party to celebrate my recovery."

You nod and follow him to the office. He went to his desk and put on a pair of glasses and you look for your coat.

"Where is it?" Akutagawa realized what was missing and looked through his desk area.

"I brought it here... I think..."

"It's raining you need it."

"Well no duh! I don't mind getting wet with rain it's not that big a deal." You say and lead him out of the office building.
When you walk out, it starts pouring.

Akutagawa holds up his black coat so that both of you can fit underneath. You both walk simultaneously to his house. Where Gin and a big meal were waiting for both of you.
