Pat's POV

"So, what now?" Mark asked after an awkward moment of silence.

"Do you need something for your arm, Matt?" I asked.

He nodded in response. "Please."

Jen stood and escorted Matt to the medical hut. "Mark, do you need anything?" I asked. He shook his head hesitantly. I nodded, then turned to Jim. "The ewoks will show you to a guest hut you can share with the others."

Jim nodded, and a few villagers took him away. I turned back to Mark. "Yes, you do, Mark. You were limping earlier. "

"Was it that obvious?" Mark asked me.

"Yes, it was. Jen noticed it as you two trekked through the forest. She told me you needed help."

"Alright. All I need is some painkillers or something."

I nodded and helped him up, making sure he could walk over to the medical hut. I told a nurse ewok what was going on and she asked Mark a bunch of questions, so I had to translate back and forth. Eventually, she ended up giving Mark a splint for his leg and some painkillers. I helped Mark to the hut where Matt and Jim were staying, but Mark took off the splint.

"Look, Pat, I'm grateful for the splint, really, but I don't need it. I've been taking care of myself for years now. I had a broken arm once and honestly, I just tied some rope around it to hold it in place and it healed. I really don't need the splint, I need to be able to be mobile, whether I'm hurt or not. I'm very grateful though, so thank you."

I nodded, understanding that it was just how Mark was. "It's no problem, Mark." I got the three of them situated before nodding to them as a goodbye. "When you wake up in the morning, just come find either Jen or I." The three nodded to me and I left them to sleep.

Upon arriving back at my own hut, I found Jen inside, unpacking her backpack from her journey. I walked over and helped her with a smile. "I knew you could do it, Jen."

She smiled back at me. "I knew I could do it too." I gave her a playful punch in the arm, which she happily returned. We laughed at each other's child-like nature and then laid down to rest on our bed, cuddling one another.

A wave of silence passed over the village as Jen and I fell asleep.
