I opened my eyes and looked around the dark living room. After the outburst last night, I decided it was best to give Rebecca some alone time. So, I slept on the couch.

I groaned as I got up and headed for the fridge, opening it to grab a water bottle.

As I started to take a sip, I heard quiet weeping coming from the bedroom.

I quickly made my way over and leaned against the door frame.

   I lightly knocked. "Rebecca..?"

There was no reply.

I sighed and headed back to the couch.

I sat down and took my phone from the coffee table, sending a quick text to Wendy.

"You up?"

After a minute, her reply came.

"Yeah, What's up?"

"You wanna go somewhere?"

"Care if Jen tags along?"

"No, just gotta get out of the apartment for a little bit."

"Sure thing, be there soon."

I put my phone in my pocket and grabbed my cigarettes and jacket, deciding to wait outside.

Wendy pulled up a little while after and must've noticed the pile of cigarette butts surrounding me because she pulled me into a tight hug.

"You ok?" She asked.

I nodded, but the tears streaming down my face told her otherwise.

She led me to the car and helped me in.

Jen gave me a sad smile as she pulled the door closed.

Wendy started the car and took off to our destination.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"It's a surprise." Wendy said.

After a few minutes, we pulled into Twist's parking lot.

"What a surprise." I said as I got out.

Jen chuckled lightly as we walked towards the door.

The place was pretty much empty.

We took our usual seats at the bar and Blake walked over.

"What brings you guys here so late?" Blake asked.

"I had to get out of the apartment for a while." I replied sadly.

"So, that talk didn't go so well, huh?" Blake asked, pulling a few beers out for us.

"That's an understatement." I said, cracking mine open.

"What happened?" Wendy asked.

I took a long sip before running her through what happened last night before we went to bed.

"Damn..." Came Wendy's reply.

"Tell me about it." I said, putting my head in my hands.

"What're you gonna do?" Jen asked.

"No clue." I replied, my head still in my hands.

"I think for now it's best if you just give her some space. She's clearly having a tough time right now." Blake said.

"Well, that's gonna be pretty hard. I mean, I live with her for Christ's sake." I replied, laughing bitterly.

Blake threw her hands up in fake surrender and walked over to another customer.

   Wendy rubbed my back.

"I just don't know what to do. I used to be angry at the world and scared off anyone I ever got close to. I just don't wanna see that happen to her, but she won't let my help. Goddammit just let me help!" I shouted, slamming my fist on the bar, tears starting to well up again.

"Well, I can tell you one thing. Getting angry about it isn't gonna help. Just like Blake said, give her some space for a little while a-"

"And like I said, I live with her." I cut off.

"You could stay with us for a few days." Jen added in.

I looked over at her, then Wendy, then at the bar. "I don't want you guys to have to take me in. You guys are happy and I'll just bring you down."

"It's ok, Skylar. We insist." Wendy said.

I looked back at her. "Are you sure?"

She smiled and nodded.

"Oh god, what if she thinks I'm leaving her, I don't know gu-" This time, Wendy cut me off.

"We'll tell her what's going on. Everything's gonna be fine. Do you trust me?" She asked.

I let out a heavy sigh and nodded. "Yeah, I guess."

She stood up. "That's good enough for me."

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"No point in sitting around here sulking, let's get a move on people." She said, skipping out the door.

I couldn't help but chuckle as I turned to Jen. "I'll be right out."

She nodded and followed her fiancée out to the car.

I got up, making my way over to Blake.

"Hey, Blake..." I greeted, looking at the floor.

"I know, kiddo." She said, pulling me into a hug.

"Things will get better, I promise." She added, holding me at arms length.

I smiled a little. "Thanks, I'll see you later."

She smiled back and waved me off...

When we got back to the apartment, the sun was beginning to rise.

I hesitantly opened the door and walked in, followed by Wendy and Jen.

"What're you guys doing here?" Came Rebecca's groggy question.

I fell silent, Wendy stepping out in front of me.

"As Skylar's best friend and your honorary best friend, we've decided it would be best if you guys spent some time apart." Wendy said.

I shook my head as Rebecca looked between us three. Then, she locked eyes with me.

"I'm sor-" But, she threw her hand up, cutting me off.

She stood up and marched to the bedroom.

"Well, that went better then expected." Jen chimed in.

Wendy and I shot her a glare.

She threw her arms up and backed away.

I felt the tears start to well up again, but pushed past it and grabbed the necessities and an extra change of clothes.

We pilled back into Wendy's Corvette and took off towards my new home for the next few days...

I was shaken awake.

Taking a quick look around, I noticed we were already in Wendy's driveway.

Then, I looked up at my best friend who was staring back at me.

"We're here." She said with a small smile.

I grabbed my bag and followed them into the house.

"The spare bedroom's yours." Wendy said.

I nodded and made my way down the familiar hallway towards the spare bedroom.

Once inside, I looked around at the familiar walls. Whenever Wendy and I would come up to visit her grandfather, we slept in here.

I walked up to the dresser and picked up a framed picture of me and Wendy at the beach.

"How old do you think we were then?" Came Wendy's question from the doorway.

"Grade school at least, you still had that god awful pink hair." I replied, which caused her to chuckle.

I let out a small laugh as well as I set the picture back down.

She took a seat on the bed and patted the spot next to her.

I sat next to her, looking at the ground.

She put her arm around my shoulders. "It'll be ok. Trust me."

I let out a small sigh. "I really hope you're right..."
