It had been a few weeks since the kid I brought in, which I nicknamed; ‘Spirit’, into the
hospital, I had grown attached to her in the leading weeks. Spirit has been gaining a fair good amount weight that is on track of getting to where she needs to be.

I’ve brought her up to my wife, Delilah, a few times since I found her weeks ago. God, it seems like a year has passed since then. An eye doctor has been coming by every few days to see if she could be fit to go through an eye surgery, in a last ditch effort to restore her sight. He is hoping everything is in a good condition that it would work. There might be a chance she could be blind in one eye or something of the sort but, I don’t want to think of things like that.

Delilah seemed to like her from what I had said about Spirit so far, when I had brought
up that she would have to be adopted after the trail was over, she recommended we adopt her if no one else would; seeing as Dalilah is unable to carry any offspring we would want to have. I liked the idea but didn't know if she would like the idea. Sure I
brought her to the hospital, but I’m not even sure of what she thinks of me. I had went to
visit her again today when the hours started, I walked into Spirit’s room and found her
sitting on her bed, eating what I assumed to be her now medium sized breakfast. I smile a
little at her as I sit in a nearby chair.

She looked up upon hearing me enter, her clothed eyes looked in my general direction.
“Hello Matthew.” she spoke in greeting. “Hello Spirit,” I said in reply. “How are you and
Dalilah?” she asked me. "Her and I are fine, Spirit. And you?” I inquired. “I am well. Thank you for asking.” Came her reply. I nodded, even though she could not see it. “Any news on the court date or my ‘parents’?” Came her next question. I pondered on the answer for a time before replying, “Well, I have no news about your parents but, the
court date has been moved up. The police force have gathered enough evidence for the case so that we don’t have to wait three months.” Spirit nodded, satisfied with my answer. “I hope they rot and die without seeing the light of day ever again.” she muttered.

Now that was dark, even for someone her age. Though, she is right, technically; considering what she went through. I really don’t blame her for saying that.
“You really hate them that much?” I asked. Spirit nodded, “After what they had done to
me? Let me endure?” she replied. I took that as a ‘yes’. I thought over what Delilah had brought up earlier this morning, and yet, I did not wish to give her false hope. Who knewwhat was going to happen after the court hearing?

I know I most certainly did not.
