Sabine didn't move. She could barely breathe. She suspected that her ankle was broken, hot spikes were working their way up her leg and to her hip.

She really wanted to black out - she had hit her head in the fall as well - but really needed to get up. The freezing rain was making it hard to see, and she had to find shelter.

Sabine struggled to her feet but screamed and collapsed again. She definitely wouldn't be walking.

She heard footsteps and struggled to a sitting position, drawing her blasters. "I have blasters and I'm not afraid to use them!" she yelled, panicking. "Also, lots of explosives."

"Sabine?" a beautiful voice asked in disbelief. Sabine gasped. Ezra emerged from the rain. "Ezra," she breathed. He came closer. Sabine pulled herself to a standing position, leaning on one foot. She holstered her blasters and lunged towards him.

Ezra flinched, thinking she was going to attack him, but she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head in his shoulder. He hugged her back. They stayed like that for what felt like forever, but neither of them minded.

Ezra could feel Sabine leaning on him more and more heavily until she collapsed. Ezra caught her and held her close. "Sabine! Are you hurt?"

"It's just my ankle. It's not a big deal," she promised. Ezra raised an eyebrow. She socked him in the arm. "I'm fine, Bridger!" Her heart might be aching with relief and joy to see him, but that didn't mean she would stop teasing him. She pulled away, leaning on his shoulders, to study him.

Ezra's hair was definitely longer. He had a small beard, but his eyes were still the electric blue that she had craved in his absence. He had a dorky smile on his face as he looked down at her.

Down at her?

"Karrabast, you got taller," Sabine groaned. Ezra laughed. "And you didn't," he teased. Sabine's heart swelled against her will when she heard his laugh.

"C'mon, let me show you my new hideout. We can swap stories then," Ezra said. He shifted to walk away, and Sabine let go of his shoulders - then fell in some mud when her ankle burned white-hot. The rain spattering her face stopped and she looked up to find that Ezra was standing over her, with an 'I-told-you-so face.'

Sabine rolled her eyes.

"Okay, okay, maybe it's worse than I thought, but it's just a broken ankle. I'll live." Ezra smiled, a smile lifting the corners of his mouth. "Come on," he said, extending a hand. Begrudgingly, she took it. He wrapped an arm around her waist and helped her walk.

"I don't need your help," Sabine griped. "I'm a Mandalorian. We are trained to be steady. We are nimble -" Ezra stepped over a tree root. Sabine did not. She tripped and would have fallen on her face if not for Ezra, who caught her at the last second.

"It's the ankle," Sabine insisted. Ezra smirked. "Then if it's the ankle, I can't let you walk."

"Wait - no. That's not what I meant!" Ezra laughed and picked her up bridal style. "Ezra Bridger! Put me down right now!"

"No can do!" Ezra said. He darted through the jungle, Sabine had to admit, way faster than he could have with her in tow. And his arms were definitely warm despite the freezing rain. She socked him once in the arm, but weakly.

"You're such a lothrat," she murmured, and drifted off to sleep.
