Sam and Penny were on the night shift and decided to have dinner at the Whole Fish Cafe. But when they entered the restaurant, Dilys promptly rushed into Sam's arms.

"Oh Sam, I must have just stumbled upon something," she chirped happily.

"Probably from the hormones surging at the sight of fresh victim," Penny murmured as she pushed into the Cafe behind Sam, who had to hold back not to laugh.

"Well, if you believe what people say, at least I have my hormones better under control than you two," Dilys replied flippantly and Sam looked at her in surprise.

"Really? What's the story?" Penny purred, feigning excited curiosity.

"That you two have had something going on with each other for a long time and there are even bets being made as to when you'll expecting a little one."

"Well then," Penny replied with a laugh. "I hope people won't be too disappointed when they find out that I'm more enlightened than you were back then."

Dilys groaned in frustration and left the restaurant fuming, while Sam and Bronwyn laughed and Penny sat down at the counter next to Sarah.

"You made her mad, Penny," Sarah objected, giggling, before sniffling.

"You have to expect that when you stick your nose into other people's business. What's wrong with you? Have you caught a cold?" she then quickly changed the subject and Sarah nodded disappointedly.

"Uncle Sam, what does it mean to have something going on together?" James asked, pulling on Sam's jacket as soon as he sat down next to Penny. Meanwhile, Bronwyn served them both their favorite dish - fish and chips.

"Well James, that means people think Penny and I are a couple."

"Oh, that. Mum and Dad always say that it's frustrating that you don't check what everyone has already noticed," James waved off disinterestedly and went upstairs while Bronwyn admonished her son. Sam and Penny briefly looked into each other's eyes as they blushed and quickly turned to their food, glad that Bronwyn was also taking care of the dishes in silence and the topic was off the table.

"Oh mom, I don't want to take the medicine. It's really disgusting," they heard Sarah groan next to them.

"Sarah, how else are you going to get well?"

"May I, Bronwyn?"Penny pointed to a sugar bowl behind the counter and Bronwyn nodded helplessly and looked questioningly at Sam, who just shrugged his shoulders.

Penny took the sugar bowl and put a spoonful of sugar into a glass, poured it all over with tea and then took the spoon with the medicine from Bronwyn to stir it in too before handing it to Sarah and smiling encouragingly.

"Wow, Penny. This tastes much better now. Thanks."

"You're welcome, Sarah. Now just get well again quickly."

"How do you know tricks like that?" Bronwyn now turned to her friend.

"Never seen Mary Poppins? A spoonful of sugar sweetens bitter medicine," Penny replied with a shrug. "Shall we get going again, Sam?"

"Sure, I'm done. Do you want to go to Venus with me or would you rather fly?" He handed Penny an umbrella from the umbrella stand, who looked at him perplexed. "Doesn't Marry Poppins always fly with an umbrella?" he asked with a grin and she rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Thanks no, I'd rather jump into the pictures of a street painter, but unfortunately we don't have one in Pontypandy." Penny went out the door first and Sam quickly grabbed something from the counter on the way out.

"Then let's paint the pictures ourselves," he replied with a grin and began to paint a carousel on the pavement in front of the Cafe. It was more bad than good, but at least you could see what it was. As soon as he finished, Sam put the chalk aside and grabbed Penny's hand. "Ready for the fair? So, how was that? Wink and wrinkle your nose?" Penny just laughed and shrugged her shoulder. "That's right. Close your eyes and hop!" And together they jumped onto the picture.

"That was probably nothing, Sam," Penny laughed now. "Let's go back to the station. At least there we know what we're doing." Sam shrugged and they drove back with Venus. As soon as they arrived, Steele said goodbye to them and called it a day.

"You know what? I really feel like watching Mary Poppins. Shall we see if I can find it somewhere?" Sam then objected.

"Sure, I'm happy to. I'll just take another look around the yard to see if everything is okay outside."

Penny went out onto the balcony while Sam disappeared into the common room. She quickly convinced herself that there was no equipment left lying around at the yard and that there was nothing lying around that didn't belong there.

She turned around as the melody of the chimney sweep from Mary Poppins played softly and spotted Sam, who was just putting his cell phone in his pocket, from which the music was blaring.

"What are you planning to do, Sam?" she asked with a smile and to her surprise he took her hand and pulled her close to dance with her.

"I'm pushing my luck Ms. Poppins," he replied with a grin as they swayed to the music.

"Shared hands with too many chimney sweeps, eh Sam?"

"Well, let's just accept Pontypandy's black sheep Norman, then yes. The kid has to be good for something."

"And you really think that with the bad luck that he always has, he would bring you good luck?" she replied skeptically and he shrugged his shoulders with a smile. "Do you think it's a good idea to dance so openly here, when the whole city is already placing bets on us?"

"My goodness, Mary Poppins doesn't ask as many questions as you do," he replied with a smile.

"True, but only because she always knows everything."

"And apparently even the people of Pontypandy know more than we do."

"Do we tell them before we decide to have a child or after?"

"Let me find out what the stakes are first. Maybe then I'll make a bet."

"Sam, you're a crook!" Penny nudged him briefly in the side.

"That's why you love me so much," he replied and kissed her tenderly.

"Not just for that, my brave chimney sweep," she murmured against his lips.

"But you're not going to open the umbrella at some point and fly away from me, are you?" he asked hesitantly and Penny let her hands slide behind his neck.

"Mary Poppins only flies away when the wind changes because she is no longer needed." He looked at her questioningly as she sank silently into his eyes for a moment. "I have a feeling that you will always need me, just like I need you," she then replied and when he nodded with a smile, she kissed him again to convince him of her words.

"You'll be a great mother."

"And you a wonderful father." She put her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. "I'm looking forward to experiencing this."

"Just like me," he sighed contentedly as they just stood there, enjoying being able to hold each other.

THE END
