He Knows Best

Hi! I'm currently working on another one shot, and while working on it this idea came into mind. I'm not sure how, though. It just did.

Anyways, I'm actually going to be using a side/character sort of thing that I actually theorize is Roman's dark side in this one shot, so please keep that in mind and on with the one shot!
————————————————

Roman sighed, staring down at the dark purple rose he had been given by Virgil.

The two sides had been hanging out in the imagination together, walking side by side through the forest near Roman's "kingdom."

Roman was mainly doing the talking and Virgil would occasionally add in. It was always like this. It would be strange for others, but for them? It was perfect.

Let me explain, ever since the fiasco in Virgil's room where Virgil saved Roman along with the others, the two had gotten closer with each other, and eventually became best friends.

It wasn't until a few months ago until Roman decided to bring him to the imagination, and they've been hanging out there ever since.

Anyways, while they were walking, Virgil suddenly came to a hault, so did Roman.

Virgil bent down and grabbed....something from the rose bush they were by. The Prince opened his mouth to ask what he was doing, and was met with the emo sticking up one finger (not the middle) to signal him to wait.

"Cover your eyes and turn around." Virgil spoke up. Roman turned back around, and covered his eyes. What was he doing?

"Now open." Roman uncovered his eyes and saw Virgil standing infront of him, holding out a dark purple rose.

Roman blushed a small bit, and took the rose. He thanked him and the two continued walking, Roman still thinking about the rose.

It may have been something little he gave, but it made Roman's heart skip a beat for a second. That wasn't normal for other people, but the prince may or may not have had the tiniest crush on Virgil.

And maybe he didn't want the emo to know.

Anyways, they returned back to the mind palace, the two sides departing and taking their separate ways. Roman, being a bit secptical as he slowly made his to his own room.

Surely.....he wouldn't be there today....

Right?

Roman cautiously made his way into his room, locking the door behind him just to make sure......he wouldn't get inside.

Roman sat down on his bed, staring at the purple rose he had gotten from Virgil.

He sighed. He really was in love.

Suddenly, a figure appeared before him.

"Oh no." Roman whispered, soon hiding the rose behind him.

"Hey Roman. Did you miss me? I just know that you did." The figure said in an oddly joyful voice.

"You know I didn't, Delusion." The prince said, a bit frightened.

Delusion was Roman's dark side. And he wasn't exactly the....nicest person/side. The two didn't really have the....best relationship. Almost like Mother Gothel and Rapunzel's relationship, Delusion being Mother Gothel and Roman being...well, Rapunzel if their relationship was completely like theirs.

"You saw him again, didn't you?" Delusion asked, taking one step closer to Roman. Roman nodded, standing up.

"Yeah. I think he likes me!" Roman said, slightly happily as he continued playing around with the rose he held behind him.

"Likes you? Please, Roman, that's demented!"

"But Delusion I-"

"This is why you should have never went! Dear, this whole romance that you've invented just proves your too naïve to exist in this mind." The dark side interrupted, taking a step closer to Roman, bopping the short prince's nose

"Why would he like you, come on now, really? Look at you! You think that he's impressed?" Delusion gestured to Roman's outfit. It was his usual outfit, but looked fancier somehow. He had, indeed, worn it to impress Virgil.

"Don't be an idiot again. Come with me. I know-"

"No!" Roman interrupted him. He wasn't letting himself be manipulated today or ever again. Not after.....last time, that is.

"'No?' Oh. I see how it is...." Delusion narrowed his eyes, taking steps away from Roman. The lights in the room dimmed, and a spotlight shone on Delusion.

"Princey knows best, oh he's so mature now. Such a clever grown up sir.

"Princey knows best. Fine if your so sure now. Go ahead and give back this!" Delusion suddenly pulled out the dark purple rose Roman had gotten from Virgil earlier that day.

"How did you-"

"This is why he stayed! Don't let him deceive you! Go ahead and give it back once you see!" Delusion interrupted the Prince.

"I will." Roman answered back. He was trying to ignore what he was saying, and also trying to drown out his words, soon starting to slightly covering his ears.

"Trust me, my dear." He snapped his fingers. "That's how fast he'll leave you! I won't say I told you so!

"Oh, Roman knows best! And if he's such a dreamboat, go and put him to the test!" Delusion threw the dark purple rose back at Roman, some of the petals now falling off of the rose from it being swung around so much.

"Delusion wait-"

"If he's lying, don't come crying that I know best!"

Delusion soon disappeared, leaving behind a puff of smoke. Roman's room soon returned to normal.

Roman fell to the ground on his knees, shaking. He was usually affected really badly after they had these...."talks" they've been having lately. It's been getting worse and worse.

Ever since Roman and Logan had that argument/debate with Thomas in the room, Delusion has been effecting him more and more.

By that, I mean Delusion started to visit Roman more and more.

He used to ever so often, but now? This was almost everyday.

Of course, he never told any of the other sides about what Delusion did or how he acted. Or how badly Delusion affects Roman. Heck, only Virgil knew that Delusion even existed!

Virgil had once been a dark side like him, so Virgil knew what he was like. But Roman never told even him about Delusion. Or ever even planned on doing it! He didn't want to be seen as weak, not at all. So he kept his mouth shut.

Roman picked up the rose, hands shaking. He didn't want to do what Delusion told him. He's a grown adult side! Roman could do what he wanted!

But the risks were high if he didn't do it. And Roman didn't want to take that risk, despite being the brave prince he is.

He knew exactly what he had to do next.
