The old man layed in the hospital room on the bed, starring at the ceiling. He knew this was it for him. Yet why was he so sad? He would be joining his friends and family on the other side soon, shouldn't he be happy?

He took a quick look at the heart monitor. It was still beeping, of course. He is alive after all. His eyes flickered to the cup of water sitting on his nightstand.

His hand shook as he reached towards the nightstand to grab the cup. Carefully, he picked up the cup and moved it towards his mouth, slowly drinking the cold water.

He finished the cup, and set it back down on the nightstand, settling into the bed.

It's gonna be over soon, A voice in the back of his head whispered. Close your eyes, rest for me.

The old man started to close his eyes, before suddenly the door to his hospital room opened, a young man walking in with a clipboard and another cup of cold water.

"Mister Sangria, my favorite patient," The young man said happily, pulling up a chair and sitting next to him. "How are you today?"

"I'm......doing well...but I could be better....thank you for asking Logan..." The old man whispered, his frail hand brushing the young man's hand slightly.

"Sir, my name isn't Logan.....It's Patton. Doctor Patton, that is." The young man said, adjusting his glasses. The old man sighed.

"Sorry, Lo-I mean, Patton...." He softly spoke. "You remind me of him....and I was just.....thinking of memories....from when I was young that had him....."

Patton's bright blue eyes looked at him with curiosity. "Mister Sangria-"

"Please," He interrupted. "Call me Virgil."

Patton modded. "Right. Mister-Virgil, if it isn't any trouble and if this is okay, can you....tell me about it?"

Virgil looked shocked for a moment, before nodding. "When I was young.....I met this striking man.....his name is.....well, his name was Roman.....

"We grew up together.....did practically everything together.....I still remember back in kindergarten he used to pretend to be this knight prince thing and tried to "save" me and he used to screech these....songs from Disney while doing it..."

Patton giggled a bit, and Virgil continued on, closing his eyes and smiling. "As we got older....we drifted apart a bit.....I was.....as you young people call it...an anxious mess....and he was a somehow even more of a....talkative and loud person.....

"We still talked....and eventually drifted away....but we met again in our last year of high school.....my one friend begged me to go to the prom and I said yes.....then....things happened and I ended up dancing with Roman....although the idiot tried to kiss me.

"We ended up catching up.....and even dating. We had our ups and downs.....but we still made it." He smiled softly. "We were together.....and we even adopted a son......his name was Logan..."

The old man opened his eyes and turned to Patton with a smile, his dull eyes shinning a bit. "Lo was amazing......he used to draw these pictures of space and stars....and read a lot of books....even a couple of books about doctors......his glasses were too big for his face......they used to slide off all the time...

"I still remember when he used to want to be a doctor......" A tear escaped the old man's face, which Virgil didn't seem to notice, just reached out for Patton's hand and lightly squeezed it, Patton softly squeezing it back.

"He must have been wonderful..." Patton softly said with a small smile. Virgil nodded, soon continuing his story.

"He really was......The three of us were a big, happy family....that is, until the accident happened..." A few more tears escaped his eyes, Virgil quickly wiping them away.

"Sir, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. If it makes you sad then-"

"No, no." The old man cut him off. "I want to do this. This may be my last day, and I want at least one person to know my story...."

"Anyways," Virgil continued, as he shifted in the bed. "It started as any other day...Roman was picking up little seven year old Logan from his day at school, and I was working at home.....that is, until suddenly I heard the sirens outside.

"I looked out the window, and I gasped.....I saw Roman's car in our neighborhood, it looked completely and utterly destroyed along with another car....there was an ambulance coming....a news station, too....

"I didn't think think it could be true....So I raced downstairs, and raced to the scene.....and my worst fear came true....

"I saw two bodies on stretchers, one big one and one smaller one...I tried to climb into the ambulance myself, but....the worker wouldn't let me at first, but then I explained it was my husband and son and...he let me on...

"I sat in the back, holding on my husband and son's hands for dear life....even though I knew they weren't alive.....

"Soon, we arrived at the hospital.....and the doctors said that the two were dead....." A bunch load of tears escaped his eyes, Patton just giving the old man a soft squeeze on the hand, Virgil returning it with a small smile, tears falling down his face.

"You remind me of him....so....so much...." Virgil softly spoke, his eyes slowly shutting shut.

Patton squeezed his hand, Virgil squeezing it back weakly. "Mi amor, mi estrella...nos vemos pronto...." Virgil weakly whispered with a smile.

It was quiet for a few moments, before Patton heard a loud noise coming from above and looked at the heart monitor. The line was flat.
