Their secret was out, and this was the price they paid for it. They had managed to lean against the hard brick wall of the school building but was unable to do much else. Their vision was blurry, they saw little black splotches, and was incredibly hard to focus on anything. They could taste blood and was too scared to look down at themselves to see how bad the damage was today. They tried to get up to hopefully get to their car and go home, but they couldn't stand up long enough to even take a step. They fell back to the ground, letting out a choked outcry of pain as their hand landed on a sharp piece of glass.

Patton suddenly found it much harder to breathe, they weren't having a panic or anxiety attack, they just seemed to not be able to draw in a proper breath. they finally let their eyes drift down, seeing that their shirt covered in blood and that their arms were much the same state, with bruises as well, they let out another whimper before quiet sobs quickly took over them before they could stop it.

Their cries caught the attention of one of the theater kids just now leaving rehearsal, Roman, he was the main lead, and also had a major secret, a different from Patton's, but one that would have dire consequences if it were to ever get out nonetheless. Roman's walk to his car was stopped as he heard the painful sobs. He turned on his heel and speed walked to the source of the noise, his eyes widening and his heart slowly cracking and crumbling at the sight in front of him.

It was the teenager he had heard the rumors about, the one that was, to the other horrible people at their school, 'The weird gender freak with a mental disorder' Roman managed to pick the truth from the horrible rumors, and knew they were at least non-binary, and if he was truly correct, they were genderfluid. They were crumpled up in a ball, they could see bruises quickly forming on their arms that were wrapped around themselves.

He took a deep breath, slowly walking over to them. Patton looked up when they heard the footsteps, their eyes widening, as they finally focused on someone coming closer. They flinched back hard and quick enough that their head hit the hard wall, making him whimper and whine yet again. Roman's eyes widened, getting just a bit closer as he whispered, "It's okay, I won't hurt you, I just want to help-" it was only then that he noticed the state of their face, bruises on their already chubby cheeks, blood covering the freckles, their glasses were bent just a bit out of shape, and the lenses were cracked.

"Oh my goodness, they got you good, didn't they?" He asked. Patton just looked at him, fear and worry so very apparent in their bright blue eyes, now only seeming to shine brighter with the added moisture from their tears. Slowly, they unraveled from themselves, letting Roman see the damage. Roman's eyes watered against his will, he knew why this happened, and he wanting nothing more than to just help this non-binary pal...

He reached out his hand, "I'm gonna take you to the hospital, alright? Is that alright? Can I carry you to my car?" He asks, his voice was incredibly soft and sweet, filled with so much genuine care. Patton shook their head, slowly trying to push off the ground with their hands, only wincing as he felt the piece of glass still stuck in his palm. They stood, leaning against the wall for ninety-nine percent of their support.

"I... I'm... I'm fine..." They managed to croak out, they tried to take a step forward and only ended up falling back, their back hitting and scraping against the bricks again. Roman quickly reached and held Patton's waist gently, so they didn't fall back down. Patton whimpered again, "ow..." their breaths were much more shallow than before, they tried to take a deep breath but, yet again, they couldn't. Roman's eyes softened in pity, "Can I pick you up? Please, let me help you..."

Patton took a moment, realizing that they couldn't just brush this off like they couldn't just brush this off like all the others they've had since they were outed, their eyes filled once again with tears, and they slowly nodded. Roman gave a soft smile moving carefully to pick them out bridal style. Patton winced when Roman brushed against a particularly painful bruise on their side. "Sorry, sorry, I'll be careful," Roman murmured quietly to him, "I've got you, let's get you to the doctor okay?" he asked, his heartbreaking even more when he realized just how light and easy to carry the much shorter teen was, they shouldn't be that light...

Patton nodded, resting their head on Roman's shoulder, "Thank you..." they whispered, barely audible. Roman looked down at them as he walked to his car, trying not to go to fast as to not accidentally trip and drop the already weak enby. "I couldn't have just left you there..." He murmured back. Patton finally gave a small, almost shy smile to Roman before letting his eyes shut in a peaceful manner, Roman was luckily able to still feel him breathing, well, partially, he could feel him struggling to take a deep breath, they were all shallow and shaky.

Soon enough, Roman got to his car, carefully opening the backseat door and placing Patton inside. He helped them buckle their seatbelt in a way that wouldn't rub against any of their bruises or scratches. He shut the door and went back over to the drivers side, taking a deep breath while he knew they couldn't see him, trying to keep from crying in front of them, just until they got to the hospital, he has to be strong for them, he can't even begin to imagine what they've gone through.

Roman got into the driver's sides, turning the car on and driving out of the parking lot, and towards the nearest hospital, knowing he had to get them there ASAP.
