Dit verhaaltje is gebaseerd op mijn lievelingsliedje. Ik was het voor de milioenste keer aan het beluisteren en plots kwam er een heel ander verhaal in me op dan dat waar het liedje op aanstuurt. In het liedje gaat het over iemand die echt vertrokken is, omdat ze waarschijnlijk niet meer gelukkig was bij de persoon waarover het gaat en dat ze dus al haar bezittingen meeneemt, maar dat hij haar maar niet kan vergeten, dat haar schaduw als het ware nog steeds in de kamer hangt.

Nu, ik zag het die ene inspirerende avond als een oude man die treurt om het verlies van zijn vrouw, die gestorven is en in het weekend heb ik me weer eens achter mijn computer gezet en voila! Dit is het geworden!
