"Thank goodness you're safe Maxie," Gidget murmured softly, her head resting on Max's shoulder. The two lovebirds were trailing behind the other animals on their way home, walking side by side. Smiling softly, the Jack Russell terrier nuzzled his girlfriend lovingly as he whispered, "All thanks to you Gidget, thank you."

"Oh it feels so good to be heading home after a long day of adventuring! Am I right everybody?" Snowball remarked, stretching his arms over his head. Everyone was so quiet right now on this homeward bound journey. The rabbit had spoken in an attempt to break the silence. Giving the white bunny the stink eye, Chloe grumbled, "Oh shut up for once Snowball."

"And if I said no to that Chloe?" Snowball questioned in a teasing manner. This swiftly earned him some glares from the rescue party. Fortunately, Snowball made a wise decision for once in his life and kept his mouth shut.

Noticing the exchange between Snowball and their saviors, Max couldn't help but notice a red flag. He had been rescued enough times to know the difference. The rescue party would usually be delighted and chatting away on their way home. Not even Mel or Buddy were uttering a word right now. It was eerily silent.

Max bit his lip. Was something wrong? Did something happen while the rescue party had gone looking for him and Snowball? He knew for a fact they had been missing all day long so it was understandable that literally anything could have happened. And that also explained why everyone looked so tired, or was that how they always looked? Max shook his head, ridding his mind of these thoughts just as a taxi cab pulled up. The windows rolled down.

"Oh, hey guys. Man am I happy to see you," Duke woofed, sticking his head out the backseat window. Tattoo was in the driver's seat. Adjusting his sunglasses on his nose, the pig grunted, "Boss, would you like to fake your death on the way home or are you gonna be okay?"

"Why would I not be okay- oh no..." Snowball started to ask before the realization dawned on him. He was going to be a deadman when they got home tonight, that was for sure. Turning to his faithful second in command, the rabbit whimpered, "I'm dead, aren't I?"
