Pippa leans back in her chair, sighing as she runs a hand over her hair. She has one more client to call, then she can go on her break.

Mark—her dark-haired, witling of a boss—had been particularly excitable today. Fortunately, Ewan—a dirty blond-haired accountant with womanising tendencies and anger issues, also Mark's best friend in the office—had taken him outside to 'speak' with him. Everyone in the office knew they were really going to drive to The Siren and order a few rounds, flirt with some women, then return to work just as it was time to leave and have Mary drive them home.

Pippa clears her throat slightly, and Jasper pops his head up from the paperwork he'd been filling out, looking around the room. Pippa sends him a tired smile and Jasper returns it, ducking his head back down to complete his work. Jasper drums his right hand on the desk, his other moving viciously against the paperwork in his left.

Instead of returning to her work as she should, Pippa looks to reception, where Mary—a dark-haired, red-lipped beauty—is rolling her eyes at whomever is at the other end of her receiver. Pippa raises her eyebrow as Mary circles her left index finger around her ear, rolling her eyes again. Pippa laughs lightly, shaking her head.

Jasper peeks up slightly, watching as Pippa scoots herself closer to her desk with a small smile and pulls a file out of her desk drawer. He observes as she dials a number on her phone, putting on the fake smile he knows she uses when speaking with clients. He sighs, signing the document before him one last time and straightening up in his seat.

Jasper slips the paper inside its manila folder and tucks it into the filing cabinet beside his desk.

Now what can he do to occupy his time? He casually glances around the office, eyes settling on Scarlett—an accountant like Ewan, but with the personality not unlike that of Angela Martin from The Office. Jasper narrows his eyes as a particularly fun thought comes to mind.

He drums his fingers on his desk and looks to Pippa contemplatively.

"Hey, Pip," he whispers, a grin tugging at his lips. Pippa glances at him with a raised eyebrow. Jasper jerks his head in Scarlett's direction and crosses his eyes. Pippa puts her hand over the receiver of the phone and smiles widely, nodding.

"Let me know when you come up with something," she whispers back. Jasper gives her a Cheshire grin.

Pippa returns to the phone call with her client, and Jasper thinks of what he could do to prank Scarlett.

Vaguely, he hears Pippa explain to her client that they could 'only receive a 15% discount' and he observes her for a moment more. He observes her frowning face as she shakes her head at whatever the client is saying.

Jasper bites his lip and glances to Scarlett, who is now dusting off her picture of her cat, Pillow, with a Kleenex tissue. He dons a mischievous grin, logging into his computer and searching 'cats' in the Google search bar.

Pippa hangs up her phone, jotting a few notes on a sheet of paper in her file, before closing the folder and filing it away. She turns her attention to Jasper, who is busy searching for the perfect cat picture.

"So, what prank are we pulling?" Pippa asks quietly, a mischievous grin making its way onto her features. Jasper glances at her briefly, donning a grin of his own.

"I'm going to have Mary print out a bunch of cat pictures for me. We're going to cut them out. Then, I'll distract Scarlett and you, dearest Pip, will hide the cat pictures all over her desk."

Pippa nods slowly, crossing her arms over her chest as she leans back in her seat. Jasper does nothing to hide his grin.

"I like it. Do you want to use our lunch break to cut out the cats?" Pippa asks, pulling a pair of scissors from her desk drawer. Jasper nods enthusiastically, clicking on his perfect cat picture. He looks at Pippa.

"Hell yeah."

Pippa hides her smile, coming around to his desk. Jasper watches her face as she studies the cat picture.

"Perfect." Jasper nods, copying and pasting the image into a Word document and sending it to Mary's printer. Pippa goes back to her desk with a grin, plopping into her seat and rolling closer to the desk.

As Jasper heads to reception to get the cat pictures, the door to the office flings open, and Mark strides in, Ewan in tow. Mark, smiling like the idiot he is, claps his hands together.

Ewan returns to his desk with a lazy grin.

Mark strides to the middle of the office, obvious glee in his features.

"Okay bitches, get in the conference room in five minutes. Scarlett, do you have that hat I asked for?" Mark looks to Scarlett, who raises up a green beanie in response. Mark grimaces. "Who the hell wants to stick their hand in that thing?" He gains control of himself, still grimacing. "Oh-kay. Secret Santa in the conference room. Five minutes!"

Mark turns on his heel abruptly, and he dashes into the conference room, his glee regained instantaneously. Multiple groans fill the office as everyone gets up and files into the conference room.

Jasper heads in and sits next to Pippa, handing the cat pictures to her under the table.

"60 copies. Is that enough or should I have more printed out?" Jasper whispers. Pippa cranes her neck to see as she flicks through the papers.

"This is plenty," she whispers back, passing them back to Jasper with a smile. Jasper gives her a mischievous grin before schooling his features and giving Mark his full attention.

"I know last year's Secret Santa gift exchange was horrible and we had to fire Randall because of his gift to Donahue, but this year will be better; I promise," Mark turns to Donahue, "Don't worry, man. You won't get a bomb this time," he turns back to everyone else with a large grin and claps his hands together. The rest of the room is uneasy as last year's Secret Santa exchange is brought up.

Jasper and Pippa share a look.

"Scarlett, bring me the hat," Mark commands with a jolly grin, rubbing his hands together. Scarlett shoves the hat into his chest, flouncing back to her seat. Mark struggles to hold back a laugh as he watches Scarlett. "Someone's PMSing," he announces to no one in particular, letting out a bark of laughter.

Only Ewan laughs with him.

Jasper and Pippa share a look once more.

"He's about to get punched in the face," Jasper whispers to Pippa. Pippa hums in agreement, nodding her head.

"Is it bad that I would be first in line?" She asks quietly, glancing at Jasper. Jasper shrugs.

"No, I don't think so."

Pippa turns back to Mark, who is filling the hat with folded slips of paper.

"I'll hand you a name as you leave," Mark says, moving to stand by the door, "If you get your own name, tell me so I can give you a different one. Cool? Cool."

He is given no response but a shout of "Hell yeah!" from Ewan.

Slowly, everyone stands, filing into a line. Mark hands them a slip of paper as they leave.

When Pippa reaches the door, Mark halts her in her tracks, digging around in the hat. He pulls out a slip of paper, reading the name and nodding. He then hands it to Pippa.

"Isn't that cheating?" She asks, leaving.

"Good luck," Mark calls out, ignoring Pippa's question. Pippa sighs, shaking her head and returning to her desk.

She scoots herself up to her desk and unfolds the paper. She bites her lip when she reads the name written in blue ink:

Jasper.
