One Last Time

They were the perfect couple.

Vibrant in love and romance.

Each night after a long day the gentleman would return home to his wife.

They had a routine and the perfect life.

He would sit and rest tired and rather stressed from work.

His lovely wife would play and sing to him.

Her enchanting voice soothing the troubles from the day away.

One very tragic day his wife fell ill.

Fevered, pale and chilled.

The doctor was fetched, the news was grim.

His once happy life now dim with sorrow and pain.

He tried in vain to keep his wife's spirits high.

Making extravagant plans for trips when she was well.

He could tell she was fading a bit more each day.

When alone he would sit at his desk and weep.

Dwell on the sickness, his pain so deep.

Unable to sleep or continue in a normal manner.

His wife more frail by the day.

He missed the cozy evening where she would play the piano and sing for him.

Always gazing at him with her radiant smile.

She brought peace with her voice and the beautiful light she carried within.

Now he was engulfed in pain and his once bright beautiful life, lost and dim.

The torment he felt consumed him,
Feeling empty within.

He sat with her holding her hand until the final moment she slipped away.

He leaned in close to declare his love and gently kissed her cold lips.

She didnt have the strength to say goodbye.

She quietly closed her eyes and drew her last breath.

Her beauty exquisite even in death.

This the most difficult day of his life.

The night he lost his soulmate and beloved wife.

As days pasted he buried himself in his work, often gone tell all hours of the night.

His darkest hour when he would enter his  empty house.

The warmth and light completely gone.

Long periods of time would pass as he sat with his head in hands crippled in his loss.

One night he sat in the darkness very much alone.

Tired and in anguish to the bone.

His favorite tune echoed in the silent room.

There his wife once again sat and played.

Her voice so soft and filled with sorrow.

He could barely believe his eyes, rushing forward shocked and surprised.

She turned and looked at him with a smile on her face and whispered true love can never be erased.

He dropped to his knees begging her to never leave.

His heart racing excited to see her angelic face.

As she began to play and sing a haunting toon.

He soon saw her start to drift away.

Each night he would rush home waiting for her return, eager to see his wife.

Her spirit trapped no longer filled with life, but unable to move on.

He selfishly refused to let her go.

Each night she would return to play.

She would stay a short time.

Sorrow on her beautiful face, it was time for her to move on.

Her spirit was fading a bit more each time she returned.

She softly told him it was time to say goodbye.

He had to except the fact she was gone.

He cried that night for all he had lost.

Mourned the time and years he was cheated out of being with his wife.

He declared to her as she faded away for the very last time.

You shall always be the love of my life.

Farewell my beloved wife.
