Chapter 14

Bruce's POV

Time Skip... A Week Later...

 We manage to finish the project ahead of schedule as we were hoping we would. Liz filled out the submission forms for the science fair. It'll take a few days to hear back from them by email and/or by a phone call, but we're keeping our faith. I look at Liz and smile. She's currently having lunch with Wanda who's taking a break from training with Vision, Nat, and Clint. Wanda's looking at the girl like she's gold, which my Liz certainly is. I'm glad everyone likes her, I really am. The opinions of my fellow teammates and friends do mean a lot to me, but at the end of the day, Liz matters the most. I'd lay my life on the line for her if I had to. I know she doesn't like hearing that but it's the truth.

    I'm currently sitting by the computer and phone awaiting an email and/or call that may not come through today. It's already two in the afternoon and the foundation who runs the fair is only open until five. They're one of your typical nine to five places, except on Saturdays that is. On Saturdays, they're open from nine until two. 

 Two hours later...

   Liz is back in the lap hanging out with me when the phone in the lab rings. Both of us jump up and huddle by the phone. Liz is the one who answers it a bit nervously. "Hello? Who is this?" She puts the phone on speaker so we both can listen to whoever is on the other end. "Hello Elizabeth and Bruce, this is Brenda Abrams. I'm one of the lead members on the board for the big science fair we have annually. We received your application and attachments of your project. We're very impressed. Therefore, the good news is the two of you have a spot at our fair next week. Congratulations and have a nice day!" 

    Liz hangs up the phone and we run into each others arms. I lift her up and spin her around in the air. "Liz, we did it! This is amazing! I'm so freaking happy for us. I'm also so proud of you. You've stepped up to the plate beyond belief. You're such an asset to this company and the most amazing human being I've ever met. I love you, I love this news, and I just love life right now." She giggles adorably. "I'm excited too Bruce and I love you too. We're going to rock that science fair next week. First place prize, here we come!" 

     We break the great news at dinner to everyone. Everyone is happy for us and we even celebrate further by having a few drinks. Spoiler alert: We all end up becoming silly drunks except for Vision and Steve. They're the only voices of reason to mellow out our insanity, which may or may not include a lot of awful sounding karaoke singing led by no one other than Tony. Cheers!

Hoped that you guys liked this chapter! I caught a cold last night but still wanted to get in a little update for you all. I go back to work full time as of tomorrow instead of my part time hours during the summer so bare with me in the coming weeks. Work is going to be crazy. We're getting a new person on the staff, a lot of new policies I'll need to brush up on, etc. -Mary
