Chapter 18

Bruce's POV

 Liz is currently asleep but my mind is too active to let me sleep so I'm just staring up at the ceiling hoping my exhaustion will knock me out again. As I lay in bed, I'm hearing a strange sound coming from down the hall. It sounds like something is hissing. I quietly get out of bed careful not to wake Liz to find out what it is. Tony and Steve must have heard it to because they're looking around in confusion. Steve comes over to me. "Bruce, do you hear that weird hissing like sound?" I nod. "I do but I can't tell where it's coming from. The only thing I know is that it's on this floor. Shall we continue to search around to see what it is?" He nods and Tony catches up to us. 

   The three of us stop outside of the main bathroom in the lounge area on this floor (most floors have lounge areas in Stark Towers. The three of us sigh in relief and feel a bit silly for thinking that the sound of the toilet humming was anything to worry about. That goes to show how much the three of us are haunted by nightmares and constantly lack sleep. We all hug one another and head back to bed. I carefully climb back into bed. Thankfully Liz doesn't wake up, she's still sound asleep. That girl sleeps through pretty much anything. 

   Liz rolls over to me body and gently latches onto my stomach. I chuckle and kiss her lightly on the forehead. I lie awake for a bit longer to calm my anxiety before sleep finally overcomes me. I sleep for a few hours and wake up to an empty bed and a note by my pillow. The note says the following: 

 "Hey Bruce. I wanted to get a head start on some paperwork Tony needs me to do. It's about two hours worth. Uggghhhh. I made you some eggs and bacon for breakfast. They're in the fridge with your name on them. I'll see you in the lab later." :) -Liz

I smile to myself and head to the kitchen to eat breakfast. I also make myself a cup of coffee in addition to eating what Liz made me. As per usual, it's delicious. After that, I take a quick shower, freshen up, and do my best to keep busy until Liz joins me in the lab. 

A couple hours later...

Liz meets me in the lab looking quite tired. I give her a gentle peck on the lips. "How was the paperwork?" She groans. "It was so boring but it needed to get done and it did." I nod. "I've just doing some organizing. I try to do housekeeping in the lab at least once a week." She smiles at me. "Well it looks good. Did you like breakfast?" I smile back at her. "It was delicious, thank you for that. Every meal you make is a real treat. Say I have a training session today with the Avengers. Want to come watch?" She lights up. "I'd love to! When does it start?" I look at my watch. "In an hour. In the meantime, you can double check to see if there's anything else that needs organizing." She nods and gets to work for the entire hour. 

   Liz squeals all the way to the training room we're all training in today. The Guardians left for space yesterday so it's just the core Avengers. Nat, Clint, Steve, Tony, Thor, Sam, Rhodey, Vision, and Wanda greet us all happily before we get down to business and Liz watches on the sidelines. I have to Hulk out a couple of times but Hulk knows it's just for training purposes and no one is egging him on purpose. He even stays out a bit after the training to spend time with Liz because he loves her just as much as I do. I'm glad he loves her too. If he didn't, that would make me worry beyond belief and a bit sad too.
