Mark looked around to see if anyone was watching him before running into the temple. Yeah, he wasn't supposed to be there. Being half demon made him "Unpure" to the angels who looked down upon the demons and fallen angels.
Lucifer wanted the Staff of Angels right? He thought, looking around to see a ruby and gold staff on a white stone pedestal. It had a gold handle with black vine-like details curling around the handle with a big ruby heart on the top.
If I get caught, the angels will kill me with Holy Water. Mark thought. Holy Water burned those that were demon- even half demon! He gritted his teeth and approached the pedestal. There were two statues of wolves seeming to "guard" the Staff of Angels. They had wide open mouths that seemed to have a hole drilled into where the throat should be. They were made of the white stone as well, in fact the whole temple was! Ivy vines curled around everything, even the Staff of Angels itself, the place looked like it had not been touched since built. Mark got the wise idea to mess with the statues, he got up close to the first one and scratched deep marks into the carved eyes. It made a horrible screeching noise like nails on a chalkboard. It was like the statue was crying in agony. He stopped when the eyes were completely gone.
Perfect. Mark though, turning back to the Staff of Angels. Now you! He carefully sliced the vines off the staff with his claws, they fell at his feet. Mark carefully lifted the staff. He braced himself for something to happen, nothing happened.
Nothing? Surely the angels aren't stupid enough to leave their precious heirloom unprotected? Mark though with a snort. He frowned when a crack appeared in the ruby heart.
"That's not supposed to happen." Mark murmured. The heart slowly turned black with pink lines where the carvings were. The red wolf was even more surprised. There was a grinding noise as the stone statue heads turned to face him.
"Uh oh," He said, lowering his ears.
"The Staff of Angels has been stolen," The eyeless one said.
"By a demon," The perfect one growled.
"Um, I'm a half demon not full." Mark retorted.
Both statues raised their paws and opened their mouths wider. A sparkling whitish-blue liquid poured out and quickly pooled. He yelped in fear.
Holy Water! Mark thought, clutching the staff tightly. He flew out of the temple as quickly as he could and looked back to see the temple collapse and Holy Water leak out. Mark flew back to where he came from.

A sand cat angel twitched her ears. She felt a disturbance somewhere, she wasn't sure where though.
What has happened? The sand cat thought.

Before Mark touched the Staff of Angels

After he touched it

Just to give you an idea.
