Note: The following story is based off of a project I did during one of my classes. This short story contains no blood/gore.

The little boy skipped the stones across the clear water. His sister stood beside him, her eyes filled with amazement and curiosity "Can I try Isaac?" The little girl asked. Isaac paused and looked down at her.

"Sure Rose!" Isaac squeaked, handing her a rock. Rose stared down at the stone, fidgeting it around in her hands. She held it up in the air, getting ready to throw it "Don't throw it like that! It'll just sink into the river!"

Rose paused, blinking "Wait, this is a river?" Rose asked "Yes! Did you not see the big sign saying "Welcome to the Mississippi River?" Isaac demanded. Rose blinked again, confused "You're such an idiot Rose!" Isaac snapped, his eyes blazing with anger.

Rose glared at him "It's not my fault! If anything, you should've told me!" Rose argued. The two kids began to argue, unaware that a storm was blowing in "Kids! Move away from the water!" The kid's mother called. The kids didn't hear their mother and kept arguing.

Wind began to howl among the trees and loud booms could be heard overhead. The kids continued to argue, the water growing higher. The people around the area began to run away, the two kids parents trying to catch their attention.

Suddenly, lightning struck a tree close by, falling behind the two kids. They both jumped, letting out a yelp "Kids!" Their father yelled. The kids held onto each other tightly, their eyes wide with fear. The water level kept increasing, already hitting the kids ankles.

"Mommy!" Rose wailed, reaching out to her mother "Rose!" The mother wailed, trying to get past the burning tree. But as she tried, the tree began to slowly fall off the bank of the river. It drew closer to the kids, forcing them to back away.

Rose suddenly slipped off the bank, letting out a wail before plummeting into the river "Rose!" Isaac wailed, leaping in after her. He forced his head above the surface, gasping for air. The water chilled him to the bone. He was forced downstream.

He looked around, hoping to find Rose's head "Isaac! Help me!" Rose's small voice pleaded. Isaac gasped as he saw his sister flowing downstream. Rose hardly knew how to swim. Isaac swam after her, using the force of the water to his advantage.

He quickly reached Rose, putting her on his back. He tried to swim upstream, but the current was too strong. The kids wailed, pleading for help "Mommy! Daddy!" Rose wailed, Isaac helplessly trying to get them to shore.

Their parents raced down the bank, trying to reach their kids. But the water forced them down, Isaac fighting to reach the surface. Rose tried to help, but the current was forcing them down. I can't breathe... Isaac thought, his vision beginning to blur.

He slowly stopped trying to swim up, holding onto Rose. Rose held onto him, the two kids hugging each other tightly. Isaac wrapped his arms around his sister. They both knew they weren't going to make it out alive. Goodbye Mom and Dad. We'll miss you... I promise I'll take good care of Rose...

Sadly, the kids drowned, still holding onto each other tightly. Their bodies were found 2 days later by a couple. Both of the kids parents were devastated and spent the next year doing nothing but grieving over their dead kids.

Don't worry Mom and Dad. We'll be good! And guess what? Auntie Amber is here! She promised to take care of me and Isaac! I'm gonna miss you guys though. I'm sorry we didn't listen, but we promise to watch over you forever until it's your turn to join us. We love you...
