"ATTACK!" Snowball cried from where he stood in the middle of the yard. Quick as a flash, he was buried under three very large dogs. Snarling, Duke bounded forward to save the rabbit. Mel, Buddy and Chloe dashed to the left while Max and Gidget went right. The battle had officially begun.

Punching a Boston terrier square in the nose, Gidget almost didn't have time to avoid the comeback swing. However, she didn't notice the kick. Flying through the air, she crashed into Max, causing them both to roll down a small embankment.

Groaning, Gidget could feel blood dripping down from her hind leg. There was a stinging cut above her left eye. Looking over at Max, she saw some claw marks along his back and a bloody nose. Panting, she mumbled, "How are we going to stop these guys?"

"No, the question you should be asking is how are you going to save Tiberius," Max pointed out. Padding over to Gidget, he looked her in the eye as he spoke softly, "You need to go to him."

"I know, what do you think we're doing fighting a bunch of dogs?" Gidget replied, gesturing her paw back up towards the embankment. Sitting down beside her, Max whispered, "That's not what I meant. He needs you more than I do." Gidget's jaw dropped as she mumbled, "What?"

"Gidget, I've noticed for awhile how well you two get along. It would appear that you were made for each other. And he seems really happy when he's with you," Max informed Gidget. Placing a paw on both of her shoulders, he added on quietly, "And I know, deep down inside, that you love him too."

Looking away from Max ashamed, Gidget knew what he said was true. She did like Tiberius in a way she never liked anyone before. But she never did have the right word to describe it until now. Sighing softly, she mumbled, "I'm so sorry Max, you deserve better."

"No, you deserve better," Max responded. Nudging her towards the warehouse, he continued, "Now go get him!" Smiling, Gidget ran off. Tail wagging quietly, Max was about to climb back up the embankment when he heard someone crying for help...
