Initiating... awakening

Nurib gasps for air the moment that his heart jumped, and he slowly opened his eyes. He can see his reflection staring at him from his golden glowing eyes, then his eyes became bloodshot when he felt either a sense of panic or madness.

"Remember your training: when you wake up from hypersleep, remain calm and don't panic" he said in his head, as a means of trying to remind himself.

He slowly lifted his left arm, and saw droplets of moisture come running down his elbow. He noticed that he is soaking wet from the moisture within the pod, in which he guessed that it's from the frost that covered him before melting in the process of waking him up. His hand is slightly wrinkly, and his finger nails are slightly longer than the last time. He reached his left hand up to his oxygen mask and sluggishly starts peeling it off, then he licked his moist lips.

"... damn... it..." He croaked.

He lifted his head, and he saw that his toe nails were also long. He learned that since hypersleep halts aging, but it doesn't stop the growth of nails. He sniffed at himself, and he reeks of old vinegar.

"Ugh, I smell like blub" he said to himself.

Suddenly, his pod started to vibrate before moving. It turned itself from laying down to standing up, but at the same time, he saw three of his teammates standing in front of his pod in their undergarments. He felt the droplets of moisture dripping from his chinstrap beard, and unto his chest. He waited for the pod lid to open but it was jammed, he couldn't hear them clearly when they were saying something important. Then he looked down, and saw a red glowing button in between his feet but below the cord that the oxygen mask was attached to. It reads " emergency pod door opener", so he pressed it with his right foot.

*ksshh!*

Steam comes out of the cracks as the pod lid opens up, and he took one step out of his pod. He can see that his three teammates went through the same situation he was in: they were dripping wet (even the two women's hair was dripping wet), even though finger nails and toenails were slightly long.

"Yo! Its about time you wake up, sleeping beauty!" John said with a smile.

Nurib took another step out of his pod, struggling to stand up. His body was dripping wet as droplets of moisture run down from his torso, and down at his underwear. The two women couldn't help but giggle at him, despite the fact that they are wet like him.

"So, did we make it?" Asked Nurib, his voice was weak due to being in hypersleep for a year and a half.

"I was woken up first, so the first thing I did after leaving my pod is to check the date and the map. To answer this question: yes, we made it to Kepler 5b and it took about a year and a half to get there. In fact, the ship is orbiting around the planet while we were in hypersleep" Valerie explained.

"Heh, I was woken up second and she wakes up third. You, Nurib, have woken up last" said John as he points at himself and Christine.

Nurib couldn't help but chuckle, since he find it funny.

Then Christine checked the monitor and she saw the planet that the ship itself is orbiting, it wasn't big nor small, but it was the same size as earth itself. The planet is covered in many lakes and rivers, with small islands in between. Other than that, there's barely vegetation but the terrain itself is mainly rocky.

"Alright team, we need to get ready before landing this ship on Kepler 5b. First, use towels to dry us off from the moisture. Second, we take turns in clipping nails since they grew while we were in hypersleep. Finally, we put on our space suits before meeting at the control room" John instructed.

Everyone nodded before going to the restroom, each of them (including John) grabbed towels to wipe themselves dry. Then Nurib took out two nail clippers and handed them to Valerie and John, which took about eighteen minutes of them clipping their nails before handing the nail clippers back to him and Christine. He and Christine started to clip their fingernails first, and then their toe nails. Afterwards, everyone entered the locker room to put on their armored space suits.

Nurib got out his black colored armored space suit and put it on piece by piece, and when he put on his gauntlets, he put on his helmet (that has a reflective visor which seems opaque at first glance, but it's actually see through when worn) before leaving to the control room. He sees Christine sitting at the bench, so he sat next to her.

"Nurib? Are you sure you want to walk barefoot on the planet? I mean, what if it is cold or barely have any oxygen in the atmosphere, and all of the oxygen is sucked out from your space suit" She questioned.

"Don't worry, my space suit has a built in function that generates a force field around my feet. If it is cold, then the force field can keep my feet warm. If it doesn't have any oxygen in the atmosphere, my space suit also has a built in cuffs that prevents oxygen from sucking underneath it. I will be okay, trust me" he explained.

"Doesn't that cut off the blood circulation?" She asked.

He silently shook his head.

"No, because my people created this space suit among other space suits. I tested it back in my home colony, and it was safe. There were other models like this, but they needed to work on the kinks when the cuffs actually cut off the blood circulation and the force field don't have temperature control" Nurib explained.

Christine nodded as she understood the explaination and then she saw Valerie entering, already dressed in the green armored space suit. After Valerie entered the control room, John entered as he is wearing his red colored armored space suit.

"Alright, we all are ready. Let's land this ship on Kepler 5b!" John said with a smile.

"Yes captain!" Everyone replied.
