The group went inside the castle. Sofia and Hugo told Ruby and Jade the story of how they met.

Sofia wanted to try out for the flying derby team, but everyone (including Hugo) told her that flying derby was a princely thing. But that never stopped Sofia from trying out. However, she had a hard time staying on her horse. Hugo made fun of her for falling off Minimus, and he also made fun of James for helping her. During the actual tryout race, Hugo made Sofia fall off Minimus.

Ruby and Jade were surprised at how mean Hugo used to be to Sofia.

"Wow, you used to be that mean to Sofia, and here you are, being kind and loyal to her," Jade noted.

"How did you change?" Ruby asked.

"Well, James and I were supposed to ride against the Junior Knights Academy for the Flying Crown in the flying derby championships, but he sprained his wrist, so Hugo took his place to be my teammate," Sofia explained.

"But I was so determined to win the Flying Crown for my family that I refused to do team plays with Sofia," Hugo added.

"Then I learned the whole reason Hugo was so mean," Sofia declared.

"What was it?" Ruby asked.

"Because Royal Prep never made it to the championships before, my relatives were each on the flying derby team, but none of them won the Flying Crown," Hugo declared. "So they put a lot of pressure on me to get on the flying derby team, so I could ride in the championships. My crazy ego wouldn't let me focus on what was more important."

Axel remembered the pressure his little brother used to go through, and he still felt bad about it. He gave Hugo a little backrub.

"Then shortly before the championship race, I showed Hugo how important it was to be a good teammate," Sofia continued.

"Then during the actual race, Sofia and I did the flying slingshot," Hugo recalled. "However, during our practice, I made the mistake of convincing Sofia to fling me, but she was so much smaller than she was only strong enough to fling me out of my saddle. But during the race, I flung her into the lead, and we won. That was when I learned how important it was to be a good teammate."

"That's how we became friends," Sofia smiled.

"Yeah, Sofia was the reason I stopped going through so much anxiety, and she helped me see that I shouldn't stop ice-dancing just because I'm afraid of what others will say," Hugo smiled.

Ruby and Jade felt awful. They had no idea that Hugo was comfortable with having Sofia around. They wished they'd known about it before. Now they knew how much Sofia meant to Hugo.

"Oh, I had no idea Sofia meant so much to you," Jade realized.

"We were just being selfish," Ruby sighed. "Now we know why Sofia means so much to you. We were so afraid of losing Sofia that we didn't think about how you became friends with her in the first place."

"I wish we knew about it the day we met you," Jade sighed. "We are so sorry."

Sofia and Hugo saw that Jade and Ruby felt really bad that they never knew about the story behind their friendship. They knew the girls deserved their forgiveness.

"It's all right," Sofia smiled.

"Yeah, it can happen to anyone," Hugo grinned.

"Sometimes you have to let go of something you've got," Axel explained. "The tighter you hang onto something, the bigger chance you stand of losing it."

"We can see that now," Jade grinned sheepishly. "We were so afraid of losing Sofia that we almost actually lost her."

"But if you let it go at the time it most desperately needs to, there's a very good change it can come back to you," Axel continued.

"So if we let go of Sofia, there's a very good chance she may come back to us," Ruby implied.

"It's worth a try," Axel smiled.

"Well, the effect of these Crazy Crystals is one thing you'll want to let go of," Cedric chuckled. He waved his wand and flicked it at Hugo's skates. Now the Crazy Crystals' magic is removed, and the skates were fixed.

"Thanks," Hugo smiled.
