Just as the siblings were about to leave, they saw Cedric, the royal sorcerer, using a wand to duplicate a few roses and daisies.

"Doppler Duplicato!" Cedric recited. He flicked his wand at a bouquet of red roses, and a second bouquet appeared.

"That's amazing," said James.

"What are you doing, Mr. Cedric?" asked Sofia.

"Making a few duplicates of these flowers, darling," said Cedric. "The village floral shop is running out of roses and daisies, and the florist doesn't have any more seeds to plant any more flowers. Your father asked me to use this duplication spell to make more roses and daisies." He waved the wand at a bouquet of pink daisies and said, "Doppler Duplicato".

A second bouquet of pink daisies appeared. "Amazing," said Sofia.

Amber and James looked at the duplicate bouquets and turned to each other. They had an idea.

"Sofia, we have an idea," said Amber. "Let's go."

Amber and James took their sister to Cedric's workshop.

"You can be in two places at once," said James.

"How?" asked Sofia.

"We can make use the duplication spell on you," said James. "That way, you can stay here and get some sleep while your copy goes to flying derby practice. Then you're happy, we're happy, Hugo is happy—everybody's happy."

Sofia really didn't think this was a good idea.

"Oh, I really don't think this is a good idea," said Sofia.

"Oh, Sofia, how bad can it be?" Amber asked. "Besides, you're much too tired to do anything now."

Sofia had a very bad feeling about this, but she needed to get some sleep. "Well, okay," she said. "But this sounds like a tricky spell—especially for somebody who's not a sorcerer."

"How hard can it be?" asked James.

"Okay, let me have it," said Sofia.

James went and picked up a spare wand. "Hold still," he said. He waved the wand, said the duplication spell, and flicked the wand at his little sister. "Doppler Duplicato!"

Poof! Right next to the real Sofia appeared a second Sofia! She was identical in every way—except that she was wearing a pink flying derby outfit.

"Wow, she looks just like you," said Amber.

"Except the flying derby outfit," remarked James.

"Hi, there," said the real Sofia.

"Hi, there," repeated Pink Sofia.

"I'm Sofia," said Sofia.

"I'm Sofia," repeated Pink Sofia.

"So do you just repeat everything I say?" asked the real Sofia.

"So do you just repeat everything I say?" asked Pink Sofia. She giggled and said, "Ha, just kidding! No, I can say whatever I want, just like you."

Amber and James smiled at how sweet Pink Sofia was, just like the real Sofia, and they thought it was sweet and funny to see their little sister get along with a copy of herself.

"Now I suppose you're wondering why we made you," said Amber.

"I suppose you're about to tell me," giggled Pink Sofia.

"Our sister has been doing a lot of stuff lately," said Amber. "She's really tired, and she needs rest."

"We need you to join me and take her place at flying derby practice today, so she can get some sleep," said James.

"Sounds like fun!" exclaimed Pink Sofia happily. "I'd love to!"

"Great," said James. "We also need you to teach the double derby swerve to her friend, Prince Hugo."

"Can't wait!" sang Pink Sofia happily.

"Great," said the real Sofia.
